The owner of this company is a verbally abusive lying *** ! He was sexist and talked over me constantly, treating me like a child. He would tell me one thing and tell my husband something else completely. They left the job unfinished and a mess so I refused to pay until they finished the space. They left boxes from the flooring , ear protectors, base moulding with nails.Eventually they conceded to mostly finishing the work .

Our project is still on hold and we have not made a decision on a contractor. These are professional people and their office is efficient. We did not get as far as Mr. Cushman putting together an estimate because we could not give him some of the details he would need to do a Project Proposal. (A neighbor had them do an extensive kitchen remodel, and they were pleased!).

We contacted Lawrence Cushman at the end of September, requesting a bid to build a vestibule. He called back promptly and set up an appointment for the first week in October. He came to look at the area, asked a lot of questions about what we wanted, took measurements, and said he'd get back to me soon. He contacted me in the third week of October, and came by again with a subcontractor. He mentioned that he was looking into the permits that would be required as well. We received our bid at the end of October. Lawrence and Mary were always very professional and courteous - I think they would have been easy to work with. I appreciated all the questions he asked and the fact that he drew up specific plans and looked into permits ahead of time. I was confident that the bid was thorough and realistic. I did think the wait was a bit long, but I'd rather wait for a correct bid than be surprised later because of a sloppy bid. In the end, we chose somebody else because of the price - it was about double what we ended up paying for the project.

He has been superb. He installed an escape window in our basement so that we could use it as a bedroom. That was the biggest project. He did other projects of putting a new two-panel door on our deck. He was very attentive to our needs. We had some problem with one of the windows. We had water come in. He came over and helped clean out the water. He was like a friend. He was highly conscientious.

We did not select this company for the job based on the above information.

He is prompt, reasonable, and very thorough about following through. He is consciencious about clean-up and monitoring his workers. He is very punctual.
