Started building Nov of 2013 and moved in Feb of 2014. First issue, future plumbing in basement was put in the incorrect spot and had to be redone causing them to have to cut into newly poured concrete and has left a white thick dust all over the basement floor. We wanted aluminum screens and ended up with basic. Builder came back out put aluminum screens on. We had a egress window and well put in but during installation it was not put in correctly which caused our basement to flood. They dug a hole and put the well in the ground and thought that was acceptable. The inspector wanted the egress well to be put in per the specifications of the manufacturer. They did come back to partly finish but we ended up hiring a different company to come in and finish. We were told, per the builder, that he has never put in the egress well before. Some of the other issues include: Poor craftsmanship on all 3 decks; posts cut too short so instead of replacing post they scabbed a piece in to bring it to the right height. Entrance doors to the house are extremely hard to open and close; these doors were put on during building & new ones never put on. Bedroom doors after few months would not stay closed and are out of square. Basement steps were never finished; trim boards never put in. Wood work not finished. Insulation around some windows was not put in, had to remove trim and put in proper insulation. Wanted deadbolts on 2 entrance doors and basement door but were never put on. My main issue is the house was to have a 1 year warranty. The builder told us to write a list and at the end of year to contact him. I notified him in November of 2014, 3 months before warranty ended, and after several attempts, never heard back from him. Whether one is building a $500K home or $125K it should all be built with adequate craftsmanship. For a custom builder, I feel as if we did not get what we paid for and that we were a burden. He builds a fast, sturdy house but all the details he really lacks.
