Our project was one made from necessity, we had found that our roof was leaking late in the winter and needed to get it addressed as soon as possible. We checked around, compared other roofing contractors on Angie's list and came to the conclusion that G and K Roofing, Inc. would be our choice. We made the right choice. G and K depicted every characteristic that others stated in their reviews. This was our first roofing replacement job, so Glen educated us from the start and guided us through all possible scenarios prior to doing the work. The necessity to getting it done required immediate attention before the April showers were to begin, and Glen and his crew went into action. They were prompt, if they said they were going to be there at 7: 00 a.m., they were there. I wasn't expecting " Glen " to be there necessarily, being the owner, but he was there along with everyone else. Each member of the crew was very professional in how they handled each situation. They took extra care not to damage the lawn, driveway or anything else on the property during the process and at the end of the project you couldn't even tell they were there. Glen was in constant contact with us via phone as well, if something came up or just to keep us informed of the status of the project. This was important at times because we did have a rain delay, but we were never at a point where we didn't know what was going on. Thanks G and K Roofing, Inc., we are very pleased with our new roof. Walked us through the whole process before we signed the contract. Great job cleaning up. All completed in one day. Very happy with the job they did.

The job went great! They showed up on the agreed day, completed it in a day and a half as what was said, because it was a large roof surface, and cleaned up after the job was done, and to be honest the yard look better after the job then before because they did they such a good job cleaning up. The owner was on site checking the work, and at the end, checked with me that I was happy.

The job went great. Called for a estimate came out the next day, explained the estimate completely with no pressure at all. Explained step by step what was needed with the best result and least cost. When job was done it was done on the time frame that was promised. They Contacted me if I was happy, and cleaned up the job site completely.

The owner set up an appointment, came to our house for measurements and discussion, followed up with a timely estimate, put us on his work schedule after we signed a contract, did the job in 2.5 days and followed up at the end to insure that we were satisfied. The owner was available by telephone every step of the way. The materials and workmanship are topnotch. I highly recommend G and K.

Roofing and Siding

I had heard some horror stories from friends and neighbors about their different dealings with the insurance appraisers, I was very hesitant to begin the process. Glen arranged to be there when the appraiser came and was there to point out what needed to be done. He worked with him to agree on the amount necessary to get the job done. The crew he sent to replace the roof was courteous, professional and hard working. Because of the extreme heat and humidity that day, they were forced to quit early. They returned the following day (Saturday) and stayed till the job was done. They were very conscientious about keeping the work site clean. They removed all the debris and made sure my yard was just as they had found it when they started. Glen was there several times during the job and returned for a final inspection after they were finished. He then filed the final paperwork with the insurance company for me. The whole process was handled with very little stress on me. I have had G and K replace my roof twice, now. And, I would not hesitate to have them do it again.

Contract process a bit daunting. Required half down payment. Initially a bit put off about when and where it would happen because depends on crews scheduling of other homes in area so wasn't sure on a date. But a phone call one day later and they wanted to start the next day. Fine for me but might not work for someone who had to plan around other events/work etc. Punctual. Right on time 7AM and gone and cleaned up by 4. Bid was within $400-$500 range of other bids but not the lowest. My insurance was paying most of it and G and K negotiated the additional $500 needed to meet their actual costs. Insurance agreed so all I paid was deductible.

My house was built in the late '80s, and the original roof was nearing the end of its life. I received multiple estimates, and chose G&K because they came in with the lowest estimate. When I signed the contract, I should have been concerned with the details, as they had clauses to charge significant additional amounts for everything (even to put on a tarp if it rained on them). The price to replace a piece of plywood was $170, which is crazy. Due to the young age of my house, I didn't expect to have any plywood issues. At the contract signing, I was told that the original estimate did not include the required ice barrier, so that was an additional expense. The day of the work, a crew showed up that was not actually a G&K crew. They were contracted form a different roofing service. After talking to the crew, it became clear that G&K contracts out the jobs to other companies. After the tear off, the gentleman from G&K showed up to review the condition of the roof. He found that the drip edge and flashing needed to be replaced, as well as a significant amount of plywood. He indicated that I would have to sign an agreement to pay several thousand dollars more than the original contract in order for them to continue the work. There was no negotiating allowed, and due to the situation (having a house with no roof), I didn't have a choice but to sign. In the end, the work completed appears to be acceptable. There are areas where flashing does not appear to be installed well, but no leaks have formed that I am aware of. I had contacted the gentleman form G&K with that concern, and was told that it would be a $300 charge for him to come look at it. The experience with G&K left me feeling like a fool. In the future I will make sure to be very cautious of every detail in a contract. As I have learned from my G&K experience that some contractors will do everything they can to squeeze every last dollar out of a job.

So far, I am happy with the work. They come to make sure everything is going well and if there are any problems they will rectify them. I think the price is ok.
