 + -1 moreTodd was able to take advantage of an existing rock slab, so a poured footing was not needed. Todd also discovered a problem with an existing foundation wall that had been compromised by years of water erosion from a poorly draining downspout, so we decided to remove and replace that portion of wall. In doing so, Todd and crew needed to destroy and removed an old cement bulkhead, and needed to jack part of the house and replace some sill plates.
Description of Work: Todd and crew installed a new foundation/basement wall addition to an existing foundation, using 12-inch concrete blocks. They excavated through sandstone and opened a full-size entrance doorway to the existing basement wall. The existing foundation wall was constucted with sandstone slabs and was nearly 100 years old - a typical old farmhouse. They performed a lot of digging, both by hand and by excavator. They tucked mortar between existing rock slabs where needed, and also poured a cement slab. After installing drain rock and drain tile around the new foundation perimeter, dirt was backfilled to grade. The price included all materials and labor.
