 + -1 moreTim came to my home and got both clocks cleaned and running and gave me a great lesson on how to care for and maintain these beautiful pieces. They've been running without an issue for two months.
Description of Work: We have two clocks that needed service. One is a rare clock made be Robert Machek in the mid 1800's for his Milwaukee home. The other is an early 1900's grandmother clock. Both were not running.

 + -1 moreHe came to the house in January and inspected the clock and showed me what was wrong with it. We decided to go ahead and let him fix it, so he took the works to his shop where he spent several weeks with it. He said he let it run for some time so he could check the operation, and then he brought everything back, put the parts into the clock, and explained how to care for it. Between the assembly work and the instruction, that took about an hour. He really seems to have a tremendous store of knowledge about clocks, and I learned a great deal from having him here. A pleasant person and a very interesting experience. Not having done this kind of work before, I couldn't say how fair his pricing was, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't much more.
Description of Work: I received an old grandfather clock, which was a family heirloom, but it had been disassembled for the move and hasn't been working. A friend recommended Tim as a clock expert, so I gave him a call. He looked over the movement (the guts or clock-work that belongs inside and said it would need more than simple assembly, because things were not in good shape. He showed me where people had drilled misshapen holes and used inferior replacement parts. He also told me about how to care for it, what kind of polish to use on the cabinet, and some information about the company that made the clock. We agreed that he should take it to his shop for cleaning and repairs, replacing missing parts and undoing the damage from sloppy previous work. After several weeks, he called and said it was ready, so he came back and put the clockwork back inside and gave me instructions on how to operate it.

 + -1 moreHAS REPAIRED GRANDFATHER CLOCK, CUCKOO CLOCKS. HIS RATES ARE ABSOLUTELY REASONABLE. HE IS AN OUTSTANDING CRAFTSMAN. HE IS VERY SHARP. HE REPAIRS OLD ANTIQUE CLOCKS. I CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM. THE GRANDFATHER CLOCK WAS A $64 DOLLAR HOME VISIT WITH NO OTHER CHARGE. THE SHITZPEL CLOCK WAS BETWEEN $35 AND $45. HIS INTEGRITY AND HONESTY ARE IMPECCABLE.
