We signed up for seasonal pest prevention and monthly mosquito
control on April 18 2015. The initial inspection and perimeter treatment was
done that day. Our first mosquito treatment occurred on May 18. We were supposed to be
signed up for monthly service.
June came and went with no Orkin service so I called our technician Nathan
on June 15. When there was no return phone call, I called the office on
June 26. They didn't offer any explanation for the missed June
application but assured me they would be out on Monday June 29th. No
service on the 29th, none on the 30th.
Finally, this morning, July 1, I received a call back from Nathan our technician. He
explained his certification for mosquito application had run out and
that it would take him another 3 weeks to get recertified. (why someone
would let their certification lapse in the middle of mosquito season
defies reason) He had said he contacted someone else and couldn't
explain why we had not gotten service. He would see if he could get
that person out before the weekend, July 4th holiday weekend, but could
not state whether that was possible or not.
So the end result now is that after 3 weeks of follow up phone calls to your
Butler office, we have been unable to receive this long overdue service
which should take all of 10 minutes to complete.
We've now decided to contract with another pest control service and I started
doing research on Angie's List. I was curious about the rating for
Orkin Butler and was (not) surprised to see such a low rating. I really
should have checked before engaging them but since they had serviced
the home for the previous owners, we thought it would be smart to
continue the relationship. We were wrong on both counts.
So Orkin has lost out on our business, not only for mosquito control but also for repeated seasons and repeated years.

After 20 years one guy completely messed things up and we stopped using their service. The other techs that we had were fantastic. The technician that messed things up only wanted to work on his schedule and would come in and just start working even though we would tell him we were busy. The other technicians were cautious and he was not.

I had used them in the past and have recently started using them again. They do a wonderful job. The people are all very nice, and they answer all of my questions. They always let me know when they will be here. I have no complaints.

We originally used them to take care of carpenter ants but we have decided to keep them on for general insect extermination and prevention. We chose them because they have a national reputation. When we had a problem we called them and they were very responsive, they came out within a few hours. They were knowledgeable; they took care of our problem and also explained things to us. The technicians are very professional and polite. They were on time as scheduled and easy to contact. They do all the things I'd like them to do.

They were horrible. They had a 30 day guarantee, which they didn’t honor. I called them many times before the 30 days were over, but they didn’t respond. I guess they were waiting for the 30-days period to elapse. They came out on time for the service call, but after that, they didn’t get back to me at all. They never came back. The problem wasn’t solved. I spent $150 on them, which was totally not worth it. Their prices were in line with the other companies, but they didn’t stand behind their service at all. However, the guys who came out were very friendly and professional. I’ll never use them again.

My experience with them was fine. They came when they said they would come. They went above and beyond trying to help me get rid of my ants. They even came back a second time at no charge.

Waste of money. Did not reduce pest problems in my home. Just went around very quickly a squirted some chemicals here and there. My 3000 square foot home plus basement took them all of 20 minutes each visit. What a joke. The guy was so lazy.

Overall, I guess that I am pleased. I no longer see mice inside my house. But I think I was a victim of the old bait-n-switch tactic. I had an extensive interview on the phone prior to the technician coming to my home relaying info like # of bathrooms, bedrooms, attached garage, etc. When the technician came out, he said that I was under quoted on the price. My home was 'too large' to be treated effectively for the quoted price. He wanted an extra 40 dollars. I balked at this so he accepted an extra 20 dollars over the quote. At that point, I probably would have paid just about any price to be rid of the rodents.

The carpenter ant treatment was succesful, and I've not had any problems since then. I have Orkin treat around the perimeter of my house every couple of months to prevent further problems. I found their employees to be knowledgeable and friendly. They had some issues with missed appointments in early 2005, but have since corrected this and are now punctual.

I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. THE EXTERMINATOR TOLD ME THAT THE ANTS COME BACK EVERY TEN MONTHS, BUT I THINK THAT IF THE ANTS ARE GOING TO RESURFACE, I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY DON'T TREAT IT AND GET THEM GONE. I AM SO SICK OF THESE ANTS I USED AN OVER THE COUNTER PRODUCT THAT WORKED! THEY STOPPED COMING, AND THAT ONLY COST ME 6 BUCKS. I REALLY JUST WANT THEM TO REFUND MY MONEY. I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE ADDRESSED MY ISSUES AS WELL AS I DO.

ALTHOUGH THE TECH WAS A NICE GUY, HE FAILED TO GET THE JOB DONE. AFTER A YEAR LONG CONTRACT, WE CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH HORNETS/WASPS - HE REFUSED TO GET ON A LADDER AND SPRAY INTO THE VENTS AND SHUTTERS WHERE THE NESTS WERE. WE STILL HAVE ANT ISSUES AND SOME SPIDERS. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. WE ARE SWITCHING TO ANOTHER COMPANY.

WHEN WE DISCOVERED WE HAD A MOUSE PROBLEM AND WE WERE ALREADY UNDER CONTRACT WITH ORKIN, IT TOOK 5 DAYS FOR THEM TO GET THE TECH OUT TO US. WHEN THE TECH CAME OUT, HE PUT OUT SOME TRAPS and TOLD ME THAT WE NEEDED TO LOOK FOR POINTS OF ENTRY IN THE BASEMENT.

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE AND COMPANY (ORKIN) TO FRIENDS. I FOUND THE PRICE TO BE A BIT HIGH, COMPARATIVELY, BUT IF ALL THE ABOVE IS CONTROLLED WITH A VISIT EVERY OTHER MONTH FOR A YEAR, IT SHOULD BE WORTH IT--IVE HAD ONLY ONE VISIT SO FAR AND THE ANTS HAVE ALMOST DISAPPEARED ALREADY. FOLLW-UP VISIT COMING UP IN 1-2 WEEKS, WHERE I CAN PERSONALLY TALK TO THE ORKIN SERVICE REP ABOUT WHAT WAS FOUND AND EXACTLY WHAT WAS DONE (I MISSED THE FIRST VISIT--A WRITTEN REPORT HAD A QUICKBRIEF REPORT OF DETAILS--ADEQUATE BUT NOT EXCELLENT.) SO FAR, ORKIN WAS QUITE PROFESSIONAL IN THEIR APPROACH AND RESPONSIVENESS.
