QUAL TECH PAINTING LLC

Dave and Danyl have done work for us before; they painted our house in 2015 and have been back a couple times to take care of the some siding issues (not related to the painting). We called this year due to some woodpecker damage to the cedar siding and trim boards on our chimney. They went past the "quick fix" to assure they understood and repaired the root cause. As they pulled damaged boards off, it was obvious the framing and OSB behind the siding were water-damaged and ant-infested, which is what was attracting the woodpecker. They spent several days removing siding, trim, framing, and OSB backing board until all of the damaged wood was gone. Then they installed all new wood, top to bottom, as least one-third of the width of the chimney. They also found out how the water was getting in there, a shortcut taken at original construction with flashing where the roof met the side of the chimney. They addressed that as well. It took them several days to painstakingly do the work and then repaint. They wrapped up today and you cannot even tell they were here, their work is that good!! They took no shortcuts, kept me updated on everything they were finding and doing, and worked long hours and weekend days to get the job done. They are very honest and extremely competent in all aspects of their work. We have used them before and will definitely use them again.

Great, worked when rain would stop

Qual-Tech performed their work in the summer of 2016. I waited almost a year to write this review because I wanted to see how their work withstood at least the first winter. I am very pleased to report that not only did the house look very bright and appealing right after the paint job but the quality of their workmanship has withstood the test of a Wisconsin winter and the temperature fluctuations we had this year. The exterior is intact - no chipping in the paint, the paint still looks just as fresh as when it was first applied and the repair has held up well. I had received quotes from three different contractors. I found Danyl to be the most responsive and eager to win my business. He answered all my questions, provided details on the paint selection and the steps to complete the project. When it was time to do the work they were prompt, courteous and very clean. They ended up doing more work on the siding than initially estimated. Danyl ran every additional change by me to ensure they weren't doing unnecessary work. They have a dedicated team that works hard to ensure things are completed on time. I highly recommend them and will certainly call upon them when we are ready for our next paint job.

Earlier in the year, we hired a painter to paint our house, and that painter turned out to be horrible.....eventually we had to terminate the contract for non-performance after wasting most of the summer and not getting much done.  The house really looked bad.  We were very frustrated.

We contacted Dave, explained our dilemma, and he came out within a day or two.  He gave us a very fair proposal, and said he would work us into his schedule such that he could get our job started in a couple of weeks.  We were very happy to hear that, as most painters we tried to get said they were booked up.  He was very personable, yet professional.

Dave and his crew showed up as promised a couple of weeks later.  They were very meticulous in replacing several rotted trim and siding boards, and very quickly moved on to the job of painting the house.  It took them about 6 full days to get everything done, which was amazing; they were here early in the morning and worked until dusk every day.  Dave took great care to match the colors on our house.

Each day they took great care to clean up everything and carefully store their equipment.  When they were done, they did an excellent job of cleaning everything - you wouldn't have known they were there.  The house looks great, too!

I fully recommend QualTech Painting to anyone looking for a great job at a fair price.  Dave and his crew (including his brother, Dan) do excellent work.

Initially when Dan came to power wash the house we discussed the colors we were interested in.  The conversation was slightly confusing when asking for help to pick colors for house exterior - but all sorted out with David's help.  Attentive to our concerns about type quality and longevity of paint to be used for stucco exterior.  The stucco had some cracks and spots that had been repaired about 3 months previous to the painting.  I had spoke with Qual-Tech and told them this was done - and stucco shouldn't need any fixing.   I asked and was reassured that the paint was sprayed and back-rolled and windows were caulked as needed.   The painters were the neatest and quietest crew of workers I have ever had!  I was quite impressed.  Overall the house looks great - but there was one disappointment.  When they started the painting I went to check - so I could see color, how it was coming, etc...  Where some of the stucco had been repaired (some of the roughness) showed through the paint.  I addressed this with Dan, and he said I told them the stucco didn't need any work.  I said I understood what I said, but could they do something to sand the stucco - or what would be necessary so the fixes wouldn't show through.  David came around and said that they could and it did look better where they had sanded it.  On the day the house was completed I did a walk around of the house - I pointed out another section of repair to Dan and he did some sanding and touch up painting.  After the house dried, I have noticed other areas that weren't "sanded or blended in" better with the stucco and show through the paint.  I guess when I hire painting professionals, I would expect them to notify me if the paint job I am asking for might not turn out perfectly if some alterations in the painting are not completed.  I thought we had discussed the problem (stucco repair showing through paint) and I wouldn't have to re-check their work.   I would hire Qual tech back to do some interior painting but would preface it with asking them to notify me of anything that might not paint correctly - so we can discuss any special requirements before painting.

There's not enough room here to tell everyone how pleased I was with the service Dave and Dan provided painting the exterior of my home.  I have a very large, 100% cedar wood home and received numerous quotes from other contractors, which were priced literally from $6000 to $25,000.  Qual Tech's price was on the lower end of that spectrum, but with all of the "A" ratings and rave reviews, I couldn't resist giving them a try.  I have hired numerous contractors over the years and have seen pretty much everything from good to nightmarish, but NEVER have I hired a contractor that truly lived up to ever single "A" rating on Angies List!!

We had no idea how bad our home needed painting until they pressure washed the entire house, not missing an inch, and paint chips blew off everywhere, sometimes in sheets.  Dave and Dan were VERY CAREFUL to wait until all the wood was thoroughly dry before proceeding, and on rainy or humid days they made very good choices what would be in MY BEST INTEREST in long term success in keeping the paint on my house for years to come.  While scraping and priming, the guys came across an incredible amount of rotten wood, which was very disturbing on my newer 12 year old house, however, they showed me every single area big or small and made the proper recommendations to replace the wood or caulk it. In most situations I chose to replace it, and was BLOWN AWAY at the speed, precision and care they used to replace as much wood as I had.

I also put them in a very difficult situation, having 2 other contractors working on the exterior areas of my property at the same time, On almost a daily basis there was a conflict of who gets to work where, yet Dave and Dan just rolled with it, and did other areas instead of going home, like the other contractors did.  They gave me a timeframe to get the job done, yet despite about 50% more work than they bargained for, worked 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week to get the job done on time.  They cleaned up every single paint chip DAILY and were always neat, clean, friendly, professional and yet still did an absolutely superb job, AND finished the job by their stated timeframe. 

In the end, I did a thorough final search for touch-ups, yet walking around the house 3 times, could not find 1 single touch up.  These guys absolutely blew me away in all aspects of service and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND these guys to paint your house, whether inside or out.  Thank you Dave and Dan for showing me that true professionals do exist, and don't have to cost the most.

The weather played a bit of havoc with the progress, but the crew did an excellent job and were a pleasure to work with. I will have them return to do some interior painting in the fall or winter.

We had a great experience with Dave & Daniel! They were professional, hard-working, pleasant to be around, conscientious and most importantly they did good work.  Our tired old aluminum siding and vinyl shutters have a new lease on life! Even better, of the three bids we got, theirs was the least expensive.  I would definitely recommend Qual Tech to anyone looking for an exterior painter.

The quote was prompt , backed up by helpful  advise regarding  color choice and different options . The job was started and finished on time and  exactly as the quote stated . There were no nasty surprises , or concerns . They were tidy , considerate and a happy team . We would use them again .

I have used a number of painters over the years and I have never been as I happy as I was with them.  The thing which stood about them was the quality of their work and the fact that their pricing was reasonable and competitive.  They were neat, cleaned up and looked pleasant to be here.  They came out every day as scheduled.  I would highly recommend them to others as I was very pleased with them.

The price seemed very fair. They were busy; it was a rainy start to the spring in Wisconsin and they had a hard time getting here, there and everywhere.  It was probably similar to other contractors and they were all running around trying to get caught up from having it rain for nine days in a row.   They started pretty much on time; it was within the range of what is expected this time of year. I don’t think anyone could have done a better job in punctuality given the type of May we had.  I was happy with them and I’m going to have them come back and do some things.
