Mr Sandless per contract: strip, stain the floors fill nail holes. The 1st stain did not cover old stains, he redid the stain. After 2nd stain it looked good from the doorway, the floors were wet, so we couldn't look closely...Our house was not being lived in so we checked the next day.......OH NO........floor splattered with gobs of stain, nail holes not filled, which are all still here... He made excuses again......did not adjust the monies.
The topcoat was so poor it needed to be redone within the 1st year.....many many many scratches from normal use....$1550.00
Cannot recommend.
"In response to the recent review of a job done 2 years ago, I would like to note that I wish I was made aware of these concerns prior to now. As a business owner I pride myself and our business on customer service. With all due respect, when this job was surveyed I did advise that the floors needed to be replaced. The customer was informed as to the realistic outcome of what we could achieve with refinishing the floors, and made the decision to go ahead with the refinishing knowing that I could not promise anything more than “better”. - -We had a lot of water stains on the floor and the worker went through multiple times with some sort of solution that took them out. He did not get them out completely, but they were hugely improved. This took an extra day of work.
- -Worker was polite
- -The woman who answered the phones for their main office was incredibly polite and very quick to respond to questions or concerns.
The not so good:
-Their worker had removed all of the doors on the room to do the work, and when he was done, did not plan to wait for the floors to dried to re-hang them. I told him that I would appreciate it if he did, and although she didn't make a big deal out of it, I don't think I should've had to ask.
-After he left, I found that he had left huge piles of sawdust behind our radiators. Definitely not something that I should've had to clean up.
I indicated above that I would not use this provider again. I would have actually chosen and quot;maybeand quot; if I could have. I think I would probably try a different company to see if I could get great service, but at least their service was OK.
I had no desire to live with the inconvenience and mess of sanding and waiting days for a urethane finish to cure. Mr. Sandless delivered exactly what we expected -- deep-cleaned floors, sealed with several coats of finish to protect them in the future.
The process took 2 days because we needed to move furniture between rooms, but the finish was dry and the rooms usable the same day.
Brian, the service technician who came to the house was prompt, professional, congenial, and efficient. He also shared our appreciation for the beauty and character of the various types of wood, answering all our questions and consulting with us prior to adding any tint to the finish. He truly went beyond the call of duty in preparing our floors prior to applying the finish. He was extremely dedicated to delivering high quality service.
I would never have believed our floors could look so good without sanding! The process lifted 99% of the ground-in dirt from our red oak parquet dining room, and it's impossible to see a difference between that area and the rest of the floor that had less traffic wear. In the master bedroom, there was dark gray water damage to the hardwood outside the bathroom -- about 90% of that is gone, and Brian added a small amount of tint to the finish so the bleached wood is again, indistinguishable from the less worn boards.
It's only been a couple of months since the floors were refinished, but we have had no problems thus far. If the finish holds up as well as expected, we will be calling them in 5 years to do it again. We highly recommend this service to anyone who understands it is NOT going to give them brand-new-looking floors. If you just want your floors to be the best they can be, without sanding, this service is for you!
"Please it’s your responsibility to be sure of your facts before you post a negative rating, Mr. Sandless of Milwaukee works very hard to satisfy every customer. Our side. Upon arrival we saw that this customer’s home was in the middle of a renovation, so we reminded him that if he reads the label on the tape that he had on the counter of his kitchen, it would tell him that it was indeed not suitable for use on wood floors. He said that he understood and that he would not be using it on his floor, but only on the wall. Not more than ten minutes after we had left his home, he called in a panic. As he related to me he forgot that the floors were wet and had walked into the room. I’m a forgiving guy and know (I also know that walking on the floor before the finish is dry would not be under warranty) that to err is human, so I agreed to come back to his home and repair the floor at no charge. Keep in mind that this was a two hour drive and the repair took me three hours, but I was able to make it look like it never happened (a tip would have been nice). I tell this because I reminded him of the tape while I was there (it never hurts to try keep the customer informed). Then about three weeks later I got the call that his contractors had taped down some paper to protect the floors, and that the tape had pulled the finish up to the bare wood (please remember that the wood not the finish failed, wood grain was still stuck to the finish that was stuck to the tape). I again reminded him of our previous warnings and that there would be a charge, and made the suggestion that he charge back those responsible (his contractors). On the phone he was pleasant and thought that was a good idea, but when I arrived at his home, he insisted that any repairs be covered by our warranty (he also had blue tape next to every damaged spot making even more damage). I again explained that the tape was not designed by the manufacture to be used on wood floors, but he was insistent. I knew from experience that forcing the payment would cost me more than one good customer so I decided to not accept payment. Thanks for reading all of this, Scott Oliver The following is from 3Ms web site, please note the last line. Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape for Multi-Surfaces – 2090 The name says it all.
