Snow Removal
$250
Contract states that there is a 2 inch trigger for plowing.  They plow when the snow flies, not when 2 inches or more.  We did not need or contract for plowing of flurries.  They staked the driveway for no reason.  One or two passes up the middle, push all of the snow onto the top of the yard and tear up the grass.  Why is it that other plow companies can figure out how to plow snow OUT of the driveway and away from the edges?  Oh, that's right, that takes more than 2 minutes!  Supposed to shovel front walk..that too one pass through.  The whole thing lead to  lots of clean-up for us after a significant snow.  They don't care about anything but the payment.

This company has completely stiffed us on latest snowstorm.  No plow, no call, no nothing.  To make matters worse, they aren't even answering their phone.  If you call them, they have a message saying it's a big snowstorm and that they make come through twice - HA.  I'd be happy with even ONE plowing.  Next year I get a service with a guarantee for timely removal.

They are terrible in communication. When they mow the grass they don't pick up the cuttings and it turns the lawn brown 3 days later. Their skills overall are poor at best.

Lawn Service

After having a good experience using this company for snow removal in this past winter, we decided to hire them for mowing/trimming this summer.  What a huge mistake.  It took them forever to do the first mow, and when they finally came, it was at 5:15 PM on a Friday - I suppose the guys were anxious to start their weekend because, despite the fact that the lawn was a good 5-6 inches long by then, they made just one quick pass and then left, leaving untrimmed edges, missed patches, and loads of ridiculously large clippings all over the lawn (which, because we have two small kids, were quickly distributed all over my house).  We gave them the benefit of the doubt and hoped they'd do a better job the following week, but it was actually worse - this time, they came after it had rained and left huge clumps of grass all over the lawn, the back didn't appear to have been mowed at all, and again, no trimming/edging.  We called and left an e-mail with specific complaints - we even sent pictures - and were assured that what had happened was unacceptable and that they would make note of the fact that we wanted the edges trimmed (which I didn't understand, as that was part of the contract in the first place) and that we wanted our lawn blown out if there were clumps (which just seems like a 'duh' specification to me).  So, we had high hopes for that next mow, but guess what?  They didn't do any of the things they said they would and it was exactly the same situation as the first two mows.  Now it's Tuesday, 4 days after they mowed, and the lawn is already ridiculously long and looks terrible - I'm actually embarrassed, it looks so bad.  I came on Angie's List this morning to look for a new landscaper and thought I would take the time to write this to warn others: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.

*****UPDATE: 5/31/11 - On Thursday, we e-mailed Scott (the owner) and said that we would be cancelling our service after that Friday's mowing.  When we left for vacation at 3:30, the lawn had not yet been mowed, but I did see one crew member mowing at a neighbor's house, so I assumed we would be mowed next.  When we returned on Monday night, we were SHOCKED to find that our lawn had not been touched, with some areas of grass now topping out at over a foot long.  We left a very angry message for Scott, and this morning my husband spent over an hour mowing the entire lawn with our small Toro push mower.  Funny thing is, it looked better after he mowed it than after ANY of the times Scott and his crew mowed the grass.  I've now downgraded them to an "F" rating for the abysmally poor service and their deliberate failure to  provide us with the services they promised (and believe me, if I could rate them lower, I would).

Lawn Service, Gutter Cleaning

Scott was fantastic to work with he was very knowledgeable about our plants, beds, lawn and other areas. I could tell he cared about his work and the people he was working with. At that point in the season we were looking for gutter cleaning, Fall clean up, etc. The pricing was very competitive and the work done was terrific. Now that it is the Spring, I am having Brookfield Landscape do our lawn care. Pricing again is fair and great customer service by Scott. Very honest and trustworthy company to work with. I highly recommend Brookfiedl Landscape Management (even if you don't live in Brookfield!)

Consistently, Brookfield Landscape Management have provided service VERY late. So I have spent the entire day with an unplowed driveway, and then they finally plow it somewhere between 11pm and 2am. Given they shovel the front walkway, the dog barks and they wake up my son - every time! On two occassions, they plowed when there was almost no snow - essentially what I felt was a money grap. They refunded my account when I asked though. And on the big snowstorm, they plowed at midnight, when we were expecting another 10"...so for both days, I spent the entire day with my driveway effectively unplowed. And they decided to run a snowblower at midnight - rude to me, my family and my neighbors. I will never use these guys again!

Once the time came for the work to begin, the company fell short of their commitments. From the very beginning they did not do any weeding - we had thistles coming out of our bushes and weeds overwhelming our mulched beds. We called the office to discuss it and were told that the foreman Nathan would come out to review the situation. We went over everything we were promised and the work we were paying for. He agreed there was a problem and the crew would take care of it. Nothing happened. We called and complained again. The office manager (we think the mother of the owner) apologized and thanked us for not firing them. There was absolutely no improvement. In fact, we're not sure that the fertilization we paid for was ever done because weeds and wild flowers began taking over the entire lawn. We saw the person cutting the lawn who was also supposed to do the other work, sitting in or leaning on his truck smoking and talking on his cell phone. After a few weeks they told us that they had fired the crew that had been working on our property because they refused to do the weeding. They said that they would send a new crew out to work on the weeds. A crew came out and did minimal work - the thistle was still there as well as many of the other weeds. Again we called and even sent photos of our lawn and beds (there were weeds in the lawn as well as the beds) to show them the issues. Then we were told that the amount that we were paying for weeding was not covering their costs so they would only weed for 10 minutes per week. About a week later we received a letter stating that they did an analysis of the cost of landscaping services in our area and found that their rates were too low, so they were going to be raising their costs by 50% effective the following week (although we had a contract with them). This lack of integrity was the straw that broke the camel's back. We ended our relationship with them immediately. We want to warn anyone thinking of using this company that, while they are inexpensive, the quality of their work is pathetically inadequate, they are not responsive to concerns, and they try to change prices on you mid-season. We think the term "bait and switch" directly applies. Hire this company AT YOUR OWN RISK.
