I have been going to Bills for over 20 years. I have purchased a Simplicity tractor, 2 Toro snowblowers, Stihl chainsaw, Honda generator and a Kubota tractor. All these products plus have been serviced at Bills to my satisfaction. More importantly as a woman, I have never been talked down to or snickered at unlike Neu’s or Ace hardware. I will continue to appreciate their professional service.

Been using them for years. Prices are fairly reasonable . They are not the quickest so take your mower in early . We finally had to call them to ask if it was done after 3 weeks or so. It was but no one called to tell us. There work has always been reliable.

When we took it in, they said it would take three weeks, which I thought was a long time and wondered if I should take it somewhere else. The employees at Bill's said something like "you really don't want to take it anywhere that it isn't taking them at least three weeks, because that's means they're not any good."Since we really had no snow all of December, and with the business of the holidays, we really didn't realize that three weeks had came and went. We called them the week between Christmas and New Years to get a status. They said something like "oh yeah, the tune up is done, it runs great and to make it work even better, you should put on a new skid plate which is $50 plus additional parts and labor. It will be ready by the end of the week." So we did agree to have the skid plate put on. Again, no snow and the holiday plans still in full force, we really didn’t' realize that Bill's hadn't called to tell us the snow blower was ready. So on Wednesday, January 11th we called to see if it was ready. Even if the skid plate wasn't on, we still wanted to get it back because of the snow storm predicted for the next two days. So when we called Bill's, they said "oh yeah, it's done and ready to be picked up anytime." Why didn't they call us? TERRIBLE customer service. It gets better though. . .So we rush to pick it up before they close at 6pm. It was like the first time we asked about it. . they had no invoice ready, they didn't have the snow blower up front and ready to go. It took probably a half an hour to get an invoice ready and a total for us to pay. It was like $275 when they gave us the total finally! I was flabbergasted! The tune-up was supposed to be $90 something and then $50 for the skid plate plus parts and labor for that. How could that all add up to $275 dollars??!?! Well, upon double checking the invoice I noticed they had charged for two skid plates. So the total was actually $225 ish. So the parts and labor for the skid plate were about $85--RIDICULOUS!It still gets better. . .So we pay, reluctantly, unfortunately, we pay. . .And we are told they have it up front for you now. They didn't, it took another 15 minutes or so and us walking to the back of the shop/lot area and asking for it. . .It was like the man working in the back was hearing about all this for the first time.So we get it home and we go out to snow blow on that Friday morning, 1/13 after all the snow fell the night before. Granted there wasn't that much of the ground at all, maybe 3 inches of powder. The snow blower does start up great and runs great. The moment I put it in snow and put a load on it the engine stalls and stops. I start it again, same thing. I think maybe it needs to warm up a bit, so I let it warm up for a good five minutes, same thing, try to put it in snow and actually expect it to blow, it stalls and dies.I was livid.Immediately called Bill's later that morning when they open. They weren't even apologetic in the least. They said "well, we can't do anything about it over the phone, you'll have to bring it in and we'll see what else it needs. . ."Wouldn't the tune up process have uncovered "what else it needs?!?!?!" Wouldn't the shear fact of tuning it up make it run like a top?!??! In my experience when a snow blower does that it means the carburetor needs to be cleaned. The tune up includes "checking and adjusting the carb." Why wasn't that caught then? Sure, charge me for a few squirts of Gum-out or something, but make sure the carb is cleaned and functioning as part of the tune-up!So long story short, we did not take it back to Bill's. I did not want to even touch that snow blower or wasted any more time, energy and money on it.That Sunday, Fleet Farm had an "end of season" clearance sale on all their snow blowers and was able to pick up a brand new one (a nice one too for that matter) for just a bit more than what I had already paid to Bill's. Granted the new one is a smaller single stage and the old one was a large two stage, but at least the new one works great.Moral of my story, DO NOT GO TO BILL'S to get any power equipment serviced. Find another place. Sears perhaps? They are basically thieves. They stole our time and money!

I've always had good service from Bill's. Service times can be long(2-3 weeks), but its only because they do good work and are always busy.

The tune up and belt replacements took four weeks. After a few weeks I had to call several times to check on the status and it felt like I needed to push things along. I picked up the lawn mower (it's nice that they help you load and unload at the store) and I got it home only to watch the wheel drive belt just fall off as I started the mower. It didn't take a mechanic to see that the wheel drive belt was far too loose. I scoff at the "quality check" item on the invoice because this mower should have never left the shop with such an obvious problem if there was any quality check. I called Bill's Power Center to report the problem and they said to bring it back in. I was disappointed that they did not offer to pick it up and I was taken aback when they flatly denied my request. I don't normally ask for this type of service but considering the error, the free pick up service seemed appropriate to me. When I brought it back I was forced to wait for a half hour before they said they couldn't fix it at that time. Once again, I waited well past the time they said it would take to get the repair done (10 days) and I called. Another couple of calls and I finally said I need my lawn mower (it had been six weeks in Spring where I didn't have a lawn mower - not good) and I will pick it up whether it was fixed or not. To my surprise they fixed it overnight and when I picked it up it was repaired. The key start/battery issue was not diagnosed, just that they couldn't figure it out and that the lawn mower was old. The time it takes to drop the mower off and pick it up seems long. Lot's of time sitting at the register. I wish this could have been slightly faster - I don't understand the delay. I used Bill's Power Center once before for a tune-up - I can't say I was disappointed last time. Nothing to recommend, but certainly not the issues I had this time.

I was told it would be two weeks, got a call two days later that work was done. They totally exceeded my expectations and kept the ol' lady from complaining at me.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY WHO'S OWNER, SPECIFICALLY MR. BILL ROSENBURG, HAS SERIOUS CHARACTER FLAWS. HE IS NOT A MAN OF HIS WORD AND REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS COMPANY'S LACK OF SERVICE. THE FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS AND I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY PRESSURE WASHER, THAT HE IS HOLDING HOSTAGE, AND I CAN'T CONFIRM THAT IT WAS ACTUALLY REPAIRED CORRECTLY. BE PREPARED TO CALL BILL'S POWER CENTER TO CHECK ON THE PROGRESS OF THEIR WORK, THE COMPANY DOES NOT EVEN CALL TO LET YOU KNOW THE WORK IS COMPLETE. THIS COMPANY ALSO HAS A HISTORY OF UNRESOLVED COMPLAINTS WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, SURPRISE SURPRISE.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, STAY FAR, FAR AWAY....
Response from BILL'S POWER CENTER INC
"The member is trying to drag our company through the mud and has resorted to personal attacks. The member brought his pressure washer in for repair, we repaired his pressure washer and he picked it up. The repair was $75.83. He used it a short time and it failed. He brought it back for service and we found the part we replaced was defective. We replaced the part for no charge. He picked it up again and used it a short time and the unit failed again but in a different way. A high pressure o-ring blew out. After looking at the unit I called the member and told him there were two ways I could repair the unit. I could use a standard o-ring and the repair would be no charge or I could install the correct o-ring but it only came in a seal kit and the kit cost $49.95. I told him I could have the rest of the kit and I would not charge any labor. The only charge was for the parts. I was confident we had a resolution. I ordered the kit and installed the o-ring and tested the pressure washer. I called him to him know it was done. His wife came in to pick it up and was surprised there was a bill on it. Now the member is disputing the bill and attacking me personally calling me a liar. The only thing we did wrong was not getting the member's pressure washer repaired in a timely manner. We apologized and for his extra trouble. He was only charged for the original repair so far and now he is being charged for the parts invoices in the o-ring replacement. THEY TUNED MY RIDER MOWER LAST FALL (GOOD SERVICE EXPERIENCE) BUT AFTER 2 MOWINGS THIS SPRING, THE BLADE BELT BROKE. BELT IS CRACKED NEARLY ALL THE WAY THROUGH IN 4 PLACES. I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED BELT DURING TUNE UP. THEY DISAGREED SAYING IT'S A JUDGMENT CALL, BUT HONORED MY REQUEST TO WAIVE THE PICK UP FEE. I AM SATISFIED WITH THE OUTCOME.
