Called Tom and described the situation. He thought immediately he could help but was on another phone call at the time and said he'd call me back. He called back in about 15 minutes.
Went over three possible options with me to fix the problem that offered three different price ranges. He said all were well under what a car dealership would charge. He asked if I could somehow drop off the keys at his house to do the and quot;bench workand quot; there and then he'd come up to my location to fix the car. I borrowed a car and drove them over. He also mentioned there was another appointment he had before mine so it would be a couple of hours before he'd get there.
Showed up about when he said he would and began the work. Ran into a few challenges but was able to complete the work and get the car going again.
Very polite and professional and knew what he was doing. Very detailed and deliberate approach. Took about 1.5 hours to complete.
Would definitely use Tom again and would not hesitate to refer to anyone needing automobile locksmith service.

He saw me the day I called, got the parts and fixed it several days later. His place of business is his house, but I was referred to him for the job by two regular locksmiths I got off this list. Found out later he was on the list.

We unknowingly dropped our keys (ignition and door) in a snow bank while shoveling 8" of snow. The next morning it was still snowing and Tom made a trip out to our house (in less-than optimal driving conditions) where the car was without keys. Tom came with back up plans in case his primary fix was unsuccessful, luckily the pricier back up plans where not needed. Tom got the keys made quickly, made sure that they worked, and gave us ideas of how to not have this happen in the future. Tom was a pleasure to work with and the job ended up being less than his original quoted price! We even were able to make it to an appointment we would have surely missed if not for Tom's great and speedy service!

Tom was great to work with. My truck was stuck in a parking lot with the key stuck in the ignition switch (the switch had been getting harder and harder to turn for a while). I called Tom's number about 9 pm and he answered and set up a time to meet the next morning. Tom was right on time and replaced the switch (with an OEM part) in about 45 minutes. It was cold and rainy out, about 45 degrees. He was very professional.

AutoTec returned my call in less than a day. When I originally called, I knew that Tom would call me back and that likely it would be the next morning. That was exactly what happened and I was able to bring my car in the same day. While it wasn't an emergency, I dropped my car off on Saturday. I appreciated that it fit so well into my schedule. Tom explained what he was going to do, and then when it was repaired, he called and explained exactly what he found. The lock cylinder was quite dirty (10 years of use) and he provided options for the intermittent automatic lock. I decided to skip the automatic lock repairs, due to the cost. When I picked the car up, he thoroughly explained what he found, how he repaired it, and some additional tips that were in the owners' manual.

Exceeded my expectations. Tom was very responsive to my needs and provided me with information on where and how best to get a new key made. I would call him again and recommend him to friends.

My car was in an underground parking lot and wouldn't start late at night. A tow truck came and was too big to get in the lot, but the driver said what I needed was a new ignition switch. I called a locksmith and he didn't have the parts after hours. Tom from Autotec had the parts I needed and agreed to come right away, but I was able to wait until the next morning when we made an appointment. He met me exactly on time, repaired the broken switch in less than an hour, gave me some great tips on maintenance, and was a very pleasant guy. Incidentally, the first locksmith said he would come out, but it would cost $350 and he couldn't guarantee he could fix the ignition switch.
