Fred is always friendly, courteous, neat and clean. Very knowledgeable and on time! Have used his services for a long time so call him and you will not be disappointed!

We went through replacing it cost and compared costs of a new dryer (just to see what is the most cost effective. He also checked other areas of the dryer to make sure everything was in good working order.

Fred is attentive, professional, fair, and reliable. He notified me when on the way, educated me on some appliance use that I did not know, and completely repaired the dryer. Our daughter's oven quit working - it failed to light. I looked at it and heard a noise and the igniter did not spark, so I assumed the igniter was bad. I removed it and went to the local appliance parts store (in Rockford, IL). At the counter the store employee was looking up the part and cost when the gentleman next to me (another customer) began to ask me what the stove was doing and the type of noise it as making. I responded as best I could and he then told me that in his many years of repairing stoves the problem was never the igniter that I was trying to purchase. After discussing the problem with him, I did not purchase the part as it was electronic, not returnable and over $40. The customer at the counter talking to me was Fred of Fred's Appliance Repair. We spoke further and I thanked him for his advice.
My daughter called Fred's and set up an appointment. After Fred arrived, he did the needed diagnostics and determined that the problem was in fact not the igniter, it was a gas valve. He obtained the part, replaced it and the oven is lighting and working fine.
There are several great points to this story and review. First, Fred did not have to say a word to me at the parts store. He could have ignored me, gone about his business and left it at that. Instead, he chose to intercede, provide some information and very good advice. Secondly, he was totally accurate in his assessment of what the problem was not - and saved us the money and subsequent
frustration. Third - he was professional. From the manner in which he approached me in the appliance store, to his arrival, his demeanor, his care in working in the kitchen, his "kid-friendly" style (working around some small children), his diagnostics and the overall repair and price. And, I should add that Fred was not shilling for his business when he spoke to me. When asked about costs he explained the trip charge to me and added that "we're all about the same" - referring to other repair services. Also, he did not offer a business card until I asked for one.
Fred is service oriented, a professional and a gentleman. I highly recommend him as I hope the above narrative reflects on the type of person he is and the type of service he provides. I am not surprised by his excellent rating on Angie's List - he runs a quality business and knows what he is doing.

Fred came to look at my refrigerator which had stopped cooling and within a few minutes had diagnosed the problem. He did not have the correct part with him but within 1.5 hours he had the part and replaced it. I was extremely happy with the communication before during and after the repair. I will not hesitate to call for other appliance repairs and would recommend him to everyone.

Great as he arrived at the expected time (contacted me half an hour before arrival as requested) so that I did not need to leave work too early. Very expediant and pleasant.

Fred did a great job! He was very professional from the beginning. Our initial phone calls were returned immediately and we were fortunate he was able to come the next day. He was very punctual, and was able to determine the problem right off. He replaced the water pump very efficiently and gave us several useful tips to keep our washer running smoothly. On top of that we had a ten dollar off the service visit which he forgot to figure into the bill, which we didn't catch either, but he called a half hour later and took care of it. He's honest as well as reliable. We would recommend Fred's Appliance Repair to anyone!

Fred was able to get out the next day since we had a fridge that wasn't cooling properly. He was polite and performed the work very quickly. He did have to order parts for our stand-up freezer and come back after they arrived. Professional and friendly. He billed me, didn't require payment right then.

It was a very positive experience. Fred came in, looked over our problem, determined that we had lint clogging up the dryer, he made the exhaust work correctly, and cleaned out the dryer. It works like new now.

All went very well. Returned calls - kept in contact when parts were on order. Went over and above to get things running in a timely fashion.

Fred not only fixed the refrigerator three times, he followed up to make sure everything was working. The refrigerator is 9 years old and now it works the way it should have from the beginning. We love that. Even though he had to come out three times, there was only one service charge because, as he said, it was all part of the same call. He was on time, made convenient appointments and was very pleasant to have around. We can't recommend him enough.

When the oven of our Kenmore gas range wouldn't light from time to time, one of those times being Christmas eve, we contacted Sears and made an appointment for a repairman to come. When the Sear's man canceled an hour before the appointment we decided to look for a local person. Luckily we chose Fred of Fred's Appliance. He came, examined the stove, got a replacement part and installed it all at one visit. It has worked fine since then. He also took care of a few problems that existed because of the original installation. He was friendly and professional. He left us with some advice about appliances and has a website that has "Healthy Appliance Tips" on it. We definitely would recommend him.

When my handyman husband's efforts to repair the dryer failed we looked at Angie's List and found Fred. We had an appointment for 5 but he was busy working on others projects. He called and kept us up to date as to his estimated arrival time. When it got later than 7 we suggested he come the next day. He insisted on coming and doing the repairs that night. We are so glad he did. He was knowledgeable and did the repairs quickly and explained some things we could do to get the most out of our older washer and dryer. Great experience.
