On the wedding day, when the large vase arrangement was picked up by me and another individual, we noticed that some of the flowers looked wilted/smashed. The owner did not notice this until it was pointed it out to her. She was visibly upset and stated that her employee had prepared the arrangement incorrectly and agreed to redo the arrangement; we now had to make a second trip to the florist before the wedding. While unpacking it from the box/packing the florist had put it in, we noticed that the base was broken and someone had attempted to repair it with a hot glue gun type substance, the same type glue that was used by someone at the flower shop to attach fabric we had provided for other vases. When we told the owner about the broken vase the next day while picking up the flowers for the reception, she said her employee never told anyone that the vase was expensive and said it was moved around numerous times; her employee did not charge us enough; we might have bought the vase broken; we could have broken it (BUT, we asked, "How did the glue get on the broken pieces?"); they don't like to use customer's vases (BUT, no one ever told us that); if they do use customer's vases, they get a waiver (BUT, no one asked us to sign anything); they like to deliver their flowers (BUT, no one ever told us that. The employee thought it was fine that we were picking up the flowers because the order was being picked up over two days). When we told her that a whole roomful of people witnessed that there was glue on the broken pieces when we unpacked it, indicating that someone attempted to repair the vase, she denied it. She did profusely apologize and agreed to pay for the repair of the vase as long as "it didn't cost too much". However, the artist told us it could not be repaired. We asked the owner of Thinking of You Florist to reimburse us for the broken vase, and she refused, threatening us with legal action if we told anyone about our experience. Some of the flowers arranged in the vases for the reception had stems too short to reach the water so prior to the reception; we had to pull out the wilted and dead flowers from multiple vases before they could be placed on the tables. Two weeks prior to the wedding (but after the original flowers had been paid for), I requested an additional six loose roses and a few sprigs of green for the top of the wedding cake. I have an itemized listing of all flowers originally ordered and the cost for "4 loose roses was $8. I was shocked to be charged $40 for an additional six loose roses and a few sprigs of greenery, when I had just paid $8 for 4 loose roses. When I asked why these roses were so much more, I was told because it was a "special order". I needed the flowers for the wedding cake, and was now very short on time so I reluctantly paid the $40. I was foolish to assume that the cost for six loose roses and a few sprigs of green would be just a little more than four loose roses.
Description of Work: Hired Thinking of You Florist, Big Bend, WI (Big Bend, Mukwonago and Waukesha phone listings are all at Big Bend location) to prepare the flowers for a wedding and reception. We provided 20 vases to be used for arrangements. I told the employee that the largest vase, which was purchased especially for the wedding, was very expensive and asked that they be very careful with it. She promised that they would. I paid for the flowers in full, as required, three weeks prior to the wedding (employee told me payment in full was required two weeks prior to the wedding and then the owner told me full payment was required a month prior to the wedding).

They did exactly what I wanted them to do and they did it promptly. The flowers were beautiful and they lasted more than a week. It was a very pretty arrangement and I was quite pleased. I will use them again.

The piece was absolutely stunning, and consisted of Birds of Paradise, and complementing-color large roses. Taking into account the occasion, any special request flowers, and the dollar amount I'm OKing for the arrangement, I have always been pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Their arrangements are beautiful!
Description of Work: Provided a floral arrangement for my wife's 50th birthday celebration.
