About us
Grand piano restoration and rebuilding is my passion. Most frequently I find myself restoring and rebuilding Steinway & Sons grand pianos, though many other piano makes find their way in and out of my shop. In addition to Rebuilding and Restoration, I provide a complete range of piano services including piano tuning and piano related products for my private clientele, schools, churches and music studios. In my career I have also worked for piano dealers of all the major brands of pianos, including: Steinway & Sons, Yamaha, Kawai, Schimmel, Charles Walter, Boston, Essex, Young-Chang, and many others. My Mission: My professional goal is to provide the absolute best quality, professional services to my clients. It is important to me to recognize that every client has different needs, and that one approach to service does not fit everyone. Therefore, when making recommendations for service or materials, I strive to keep the best interests of my clients in mind. Honesty, integrity, and fair-trade practices are guiding principles in my professional and personal life. Award winning.

"Hi [Member Name Removed], I was saddened to read that you were disappointed in any aspect of the service that I provided for you. It is my goal to make sure all my clients receive the best possible service and attention and I'm deeply sorry you felt that you didn't. Even though it was just a B grade, to me, that is a failing grade. However, I think it may have been a misinterpretation of information. When customers purchase a "Deal" from me, one of the things included in that "Deal" is an assessment of the overall condition of the piano. Part of that assessment is a written condition report (either printed or digital) which details any and all recommendations for future service work on any given piano. It is something that I provide as a service to my clients so that they fully understand the condition of their piano and what it would take to make that piano a better performing instrument. I am certain that after our service appointment, the only thing I had sent was this Condition Report - not any sort of advertisement - which detailed any of this recommended service work for you. Had I not sent this report, I would not have been doing what I promised I would do in my Angie's List Deal listing. I am truly sorry that it was interpreted as an attempt to "bump up" my business. It was not. It was provided as a service to you so that you fully understood what condition your piano was in and what it might cost to improve that condition should you so desire. I was sincerely doing everything I could to deliver on the promise I had made to you to provide you with this information, nothing more. Again, my aim is to be as professional and helpful as possible to my clients and I never send any further unsolicited communications to my clients after service. If a client wishes to be contacted for future service I will add them to a list to send reminders to for tuning work for example, but only if that is what they want me to do. I hope this helps to clarify my intentions and my communication with you. My business is built on trust and honest communication and I would never do anything to jeopardize that. I thank you for sharing your experience with me and the Angie's List membership, and hope that after reading this you might feel better about your experience with me and my service."
Because of the horrible shape my piano was in, I was prepared for a browbeating. Bill took it all in stride and didn't make me feel bad about its condition, which was a huge relief. He seemed sincerely sorry that he wasn't able to clean off some of the stains caused by mouse urine, which certainly didn't matter to me, and he even joked about my obviously useless cats who didn't do a thing to keep the mice away!
After he tuned the piano and put it back together, he played beautiful music that would have made my piano weep for joy, if it could have. Once he was done with that, he took it apart again and made some adjustments. If it were me, I would have said "good enough", but he wasn't satisfied, and made the slight correction that I couldn't hear, but which must have made a difference to his finely tuned ear.
I'm thrilled to have my piano back and I will have Bill back once a year, now that I'm playing again. I highly recommend his service!
I called around to some of the bigger business piano companies and one of them would not let me talk to the piano tuner until I booked an appointment. Apparently they contract out their service calls. Bill answered my call and all my questions over the phone right away. We were very happy with the service Bill Monroe provided and would recommend him without hesitation.
