Work was finally completed mid October. Hometown came out in July and did an a measure of the windows needing repair and located the Semco brand and Mfg.  There were some initial delays given they had to order the windows and wait for shipment from Semco. Perfectly understandable.   Once the windows arrived they scheduled an initial team to come out to install the 2 windows.  But this team appeared to have come unprepared and complained no one in their office told them the bay window was on a second floor and they needed scaffolding to install.   They left and took both windows with them back to their office.
Regarding the casement sash, as it turns out, it had been redesigned by the Mfg and the first Hometown install  team indicated it would need to either go back or require a custom retrofit.  The casement windows are approx 18 yrs old. About a week later  I received a call from Hometown that the window would only need a new type of weather strip and that would solve the issue with the design change.
I had asked the first team to make sure I could get the sash ahead of time before the install, in order for me to prime and paint the interior portion.  Unfortunately,  that communication didn't take place and I never was able to pre-finish the sash.
As it urns out when the weather stripping finally did arrive for the sash, a different  team came out, to install the 2  windows  without scaffolding and I raised a concern when I asked this.   However, the 2nd team said it wasn't necessary and  was able to easily fit the bay window glass  in place and indicated the initial team should have done earlier when the bay window was available and I was waiting for the new weather stripping.
All in all the work done was good and the 2 windows are now in place.  I'm  waiting for the first very cold day to confirm the casement is sealing properly.  I'm sure if I do have an issue, HomeTown will help find a solution.     I think this was just a case of  miscommunication by the initial team of installers and their office

They did a good job. They’re very professional. They know what they were doing. They clean up after themselves. They were prompt. It was a two-day job for them. They finish up on mid afternoon on the second day. We had them go down to the rough opening on all the work and they said that’s the best way to do it. The windows came from a company in Northern Illinois and they are 100% vinyl.

The initial estimate was done on March 20 .  Two weeks later we got the estimate in the mail.  We had hoped to replace our shower door as well, but the estimate for the skylight was almost 1800 bucks so we decided to not replace the shower door.  The estimate said "once 25% down payment is made, work can begin in approximately five weeks"  I made the 25% down payment on April 4 so five weeks would be May 9.  I called and was told that they are so backed up would be the week of May 19.  I called again on May 21 and was told still backed up and wouldn't be until end of the month.  Finally on June 4 I got a call that they could be there on Friday June 6.  Apparently the hold up was the flashing kit was on back order but was never told this until day of installation.
The two guys who removed the old skylight and installed the new one were very good.  Everything was done in two hours and cleaned up.
Price and the time it took to get the skylight replaced were the biggest issues.  Every time it rained, the skylight would leak and water would run down my ceiling onto the bathroom floor.  I would look elsewhere next time I need any work done as they are over priced.  A family friend actually works for them and says they are over priced.
Response from Hometown Glass & Improvements, Inc.
"Dear [removed member name], This has been one of our busiest years so we have been trying to keep up with every order. We would like to start by apologizing for the delay in completing your project. Unfortunately, we have no control over back orders and at this time of year and even our suppliers are backed up. We will be looking into the communication issue between our sales professionals and the customers to make sure customers have a clear understanding if issues or delays arise. In regards to your concerns on pricing, please remember that we always provide free estimates up front and we always stick to our quoted prices. We always buy quality products and in the best manner possible to give you, the customer, the best price possible. That being said, to come back after the price was agreed upon and say that we were too high priced is not fair to us."

This was the 2nd time I had service from Hometown during 2012. Due to the amount of windows that had lost the energy efficient gas seal, I had to break this up into two seperate jobs, one done in the begining of the year, for the worst of the windows, and again, in the Fall, for the last four. I had to do this due to cost, when I bought the house, a total of twelve window cubes needed replacing, and I could not swing the financial hit to do all at once, so soon after buying the house.
After contacting Hometown glass, a rep came to my home to assess the window damage, and what I needed. He was on time, and very professional, informing me of the good and the bad. From there, I made the first appt in the Spring to get eight windows done. The service man showed up on time, both in the Spring and the Fall. He was very Courteous, and down to earth. Did the jobs quickly and professionaly, and cleaned up after himself, (being as he worked outside his truck in my driveway), which I found refreshing. Not having had experience in this before, I had looked up some prices on the internet, and found Hometowns price to be reasonable, and in the middle to moderate range I had seen online. I liked the professionalism I experienced, and would recommend them to all.
