Went terribly.  Their salesman promised many things they did not deliver on.  They do not honor signed contracts.  Dirks workers do not know what they are doing!!  They pretty accurately estimated our heating and cooling needs, but then installed a unit that could only handle half of what was needed.  They did finally install another smaller unit, but it is still not enough.  They are very unprofessional and refused to turn the disaster they created at our house in to their insurance company so we could get our money back to hire someone else to clean up their mess.  They only care about getting their money and do not care about their work or customer satisfaction.

Horrible, horrible experience! Dirks was like a cast of idiots. We would never have them do anything for us again and do not recommend them to anyone. We had 3 other experts come to look over the Geo system at our home. They all agreed the unit was not big enough and the duct work was questionable. They also said the loopfield is not big enough. We were advised to sue Dirks. We will have to sue them to get our money back so we can hire a company to come in and put in a working Geo thermal unit and loop field in our house.

Our $14,000 down payment was collected a month and a half before work began. They chose a crew to do drilling instead of digging without informing us. The drilling crew made themselves at home in my kitchen by using my fridge and leaving food in it for me to throw away. They didn't need to be in my house at all! The Geo crew searched through my closets and found my vacuum cleaner which they used to clean up their mess. I had a new H2O water vac. They didn't know what it was and used it dry which ended my warranty and it didn't work as well after that. Workers said I had the vacuum cleaner sitting out so that is why they used it. An outright lie and no excuse! Dirks agreed to replace it after I called and said I wanted a new vacuum cleaner since they had ruined mine. They didn't order it until they wanted the rest of their money and I discovered they still hadn't ordered the vacuum cleaner. I told them I would pay when the vacuum cleaner came in. I guess they thought I would forget about it. Workers took our radiator and heat exchanger in our basement for our outside wood stove and left worthless items in our basement. They did not return our items when we asked for them. They only put duct work in one room in our house and they were supposed to put ductwork throughout the house-7 rooms. I finally got them to put a heat run in the kitchen and bathroom. One of our dogs has been traumatized since that day; not sure it it is because of where they placed a duct (in the middle of our house!!) or if something else happened. Not happy about that! Worst of all we discovered that the Geo system did not work when the in-floor heat was turned on in our entry way and garage. Our house has been around 62 degrees for more than two months and has felt like a window was open. We called and the salesman told us it should work. He did come out and did something which didn't work. Workers had also left a valve closed for weeks that should have been open which was only discovered when my husband questioned it because he thought it looked wrong. My husband was not happy and did get another worker to come out and try to figure out what was wrong. They finally admitted to us that the salesman hadn't figured in the in-floor heat when he drew up the proposal. This salesman told us we would have boxes built in the corners of our living room to run heat ducts upstairs. We didn't get any heat ducts upstairs. When I suggested that our bill should be lower, He said no the drilling had cost more than what the digging would have. We were not happy!! We have also found out that the salesman has been lying to us and about us. I guess he just can't admit to screwing up! Other workers have added more items to help the system work and now our house is around 65 degrees and no longer feels like a window is open. Not sure if they will ever have the Geo system working the way it should. We will not recommend this company or ever use them again.
