Whirlwind put a fence in my back yard this winter. My point of contact at the company was Chris, and he was fantastic. He was very forthright with the process and our timeline. It was January when we started the process and he very clearly outlined the weather issues that could be involved as well as the fact that on snow days, the company stops its work on fences and plows full time. I thought that was great to be told all of this up front rather than the way many companies do it which is after they have your money and you're having to call wondering why your project has stalled out. Chris also dealt with the city on my behalf regarding zoning and planning permission. I am on a corner lot and wanted my fence to enclose as much of my yard as possible. There were some issues with how much setback the town of Grand Chute requires on a corner lot, and Chris made several calls to Town Hall on my behalf. I really couldn't have asked for more. Whirlwind and Chris made the task of putting in a fence painless and the finished product is fantastic. Dare I say it's the nicest fence in the neighborhood. Lastly, Chris called me immediately after the fence was completed and mentioned that his crew had caused some damage to the siding on my house. He told me he'd make it right as soon as the weather improved. How many companies will be so up front with an issue like that these days? The install got pushed back by several months due to heavy work loads so didn't begin until after snow fell. The installers were polite, worked hard and stayed on track. They intend on returning early this spring to replace bricks that were removed from the driveway and to tamp down the posts and do some leveling. I would recommend them again, just not that late in the year.

Overall I had a good experience using Whirlwind for my backyard fence project. The estimate process was quick and easy, and the rep was not pushy at all. I quoted a couple other companies in the area and I had a hard time getting them out of my house as they tried to make a sale. Not the case with Whirlwind. Whirlwind offered me the most competitive price, and carried Certainteed vinyl fences (the other contractors did not offer this quality of product).
The installation process went rather smoothly. My only complaint would be that one day they could not access the rear of my house through a back empty lot due to excessive mud. The installers entered my backyard by driving their equipment over my front yard without my permission. Very minimal damage was done to my front yard, but I thought they should have asked first. Other than that, I had no major issues with the actual installation.
After falling a little behind on the project due to inclement weather, they put all hands on deck and finished the project 1 business day ahead of schedule when weather conditions improved. I really appreciated their efforts to complete the project. The end product was a beautiful vinyl privacy just as it looked in the product manual. The installers did a fantastic job keeping the posts at perfect right angles, with perfectly straight fence lines along my property line. My neighbors are impressed with their work!
Bonus points: I needed to regrade a section of my lawn, and with the post hole drilling they pulled up some free dirt for me to use as a base. They moved all of the loose dirt into the area I needed to regrade, saving me some extra work wheelbarrowing the dirt around. They certainly did not need to do that for me, but they did.

I first called to have someone come out and measure for a free estimate. He offered several options although I knew pretty much what I wanted. I sent my partial payment and they arranged to have Digger's Hotline out. I obtained a permit and not too much after that they called to let me know the guys would be coming in a few days. I was a little concerned as I've had situations before where the sales person offered solutions and the workers that arrived didn't quite live up to expectations. That was not the case at all this time. The guys that did the work did a fantastic job. They were very careful to close up all the nooks and crannies so there's no way for my dog to get out, while still making the fence visually appealing over uneven ground, a tree just barely creeping over the fence line, etc. They cleaned up well before leaving and reminded me to call if any boards popped loose or cracked. I've gotten several comments on how nice the fence looks. Both the estimator and the guys the did the work arrived on time.

The only issue we had was that after diggers hot line came out and marked the area - one of the fence posts was drilled into one of the lines cutting off phone and cable to one side of the neighborhood. They corrected this issue within 1 hour after being called. Things like this can happen - and they were right there to correct it. This was on a Friday night after hours they were very upbeat and got it fixed.
