The entire process was straight forward and efficient. Joe came out and measured the windows being replaced and provided a quote while he was on site. I also had Pella and Anderson out to quote the job. I ended up going with J&B primarily because they were the contractor the former home owner worked with, and the line of windows J&B carries has a noticeably different profile compared to Anderson (who was the runner-up). Because I did not want to replace the 12 windows the former owner installed (add'l $8-9k Anderson price), I decided to keep the J&B window line so I would not have 2 window styles in the house. The 2 person crew who did the install was great. They worked very hard with very little down time. The bulk of the install time was 3.5 days and the crew did a great job of cleaning up after themselves each night. There was no wall or other damage during the process even though they had to do installs on 3 different floors. All of the windows were properly installed and look good. The only negative item that happened was one window was the wrong size and had to be reordered (which took an additional 3 weeks for the order - manufacture - delivery - install process). Overall J&B did a great job with the ordering and install. The home is maintaining a constant temp with the furnace working much less and the elimination of exterior noise is very noticeable. The only reason for the "B" rating is the window profile itself. The negative regarding the manufacturer is the lesser amount of glass surface relative to Anderson windows and what we had replaced. Trade-off of lesser glass surface area for roughly 20% lesser project cost.

Joe Berkin called to make an appt. soon after contacted. He thoroughly explained his products in a professional manner, fully confidant of his product. We were impressed and agreed to use his services. Our windows were installed as scheduled and look great, using the original trim without any marks or holes! We highly recommend J&B!!!! Fully satisfied!

He came in and did an initial measurement. He showed us all of our options for styles and explained the differences very honestly between the brands he carries and that of his competitors.
We had four estimates done for our windows. J & B was hands down the obvious best value for the price.
We put down a deposit in late winter and agreed the work could wait until spring. When the weather warmed up we made arrangements for J & B to come in and do their work. The work was exactly as we had talked about. Absolutely no surprises.
The window sill needed to be replaced (as was explained to us when we signed the contract). The new sill was expertly cut and fit perfectly.
Because they were even able to reuse some material, they knocked off over $100 from the figure in the contract.
We absolutely will be going to J & B for any and all future jobs.

We had discussed replacing our second story windows for the last several years.  We finally took the plunge and got 4 separate estimates.  J &B was not the low bid ,and there was no pressure to purchase, but Joe convinced us that if we were to invest in our home,and in some quality windows, that his product was the one to choose.  I am happy we did so!  It was a bit of a messy process, but Rick and Jake, the installers, took great care to clean up and vacuum each room. We moved furniture and covered things from the dust, but they still  moved and covered  items that we had overlooked.  They even took pictures off the walls in the bedrooms so they would not get damaged. The workmanship and quality was exactly what Joe had described, and the new wood trim is beautiful.  Rick and Jake were meticulous with the installation, and both were very pleasant and personable.  Joe followed up throughout the process to make sure we were happy with everything.  Cost factor aside, we wish we would have found J & B sooner.  We are happy with the end result and the new windows are wonderful.

All 3 projects started when scheduled with exceptional attention to detail of finishing. The installers, were friendly, did an excellent job installing and clean up at the end of every day. We compared products and prices for each project and selected J&B Home Improvements, each time, because of their quality. We knew we wouldn't be disappointed with their work and product.

Our house was hit by hail in the spring of 2011.  After calling several other contractors and having nothing but no shows I signed up on Angie's List; I was getting fairly frustrated with digging through the yellow pages.  I got Joe's information off of Angie's List.  The first meeting I gave the insurance paperwork to him and we walked around the house discussing the damage: he took the time to explain the damages and what it would take to repair them. He also let me know that there was no way to repair the damages with what we were offered.  So he advised me to get the adjuster back out, Joe was there when the adjuster arrived and they both went through the damages.  The out come was a revised adjustment that eventually covered the all damages.  Joe also took the time to explain the windows and siding options that were available, he presented us with our options in a very professional manor.  It made both my wife and I comfortable with the decisions that we eventually made.  
I have heard horror stories about contractors saying they are going to be there on a certain date and then having no shows.  This was a concern of mine since I had taken vacation and intended to be there when the work was to be preformed.  The crew showed up as scheduled, and were very considerate to all of my concerns.  Examples: they took there shoes off while going through the house, I had special concerns about protecting my landscaping which they listened to, they explained the work they were preforming as they did it, etc.  Every homeowner may not be that concerned but it made me much more comfortable with them as they were working on our house.  The crew was professional and courteous.  As as a wrap they cleaned up the mess (nails, small siding pieces, trim, etc).  You would think that's a common practice but not according to my coworkers who's experience with other contractors was completely different. Thanks to Joe and his crew our house looks brand new and no longer leaks!
