The movers were unprofessional and slow.  One of the movers was using his phone NUMEROUS times.  He was spoken to by me (homeowner), but continued to use the phone.
We were moving approximately 300 yards, so I told the supervisor they did not need to stack to the ceiling, they could leave the boxes on the floor and make multiple trips.  They insisted on packing like it all had to be one trip.  The stacking took lots of additional time.
I called the office to express my concerns.  I was told that this was a great crew, there should be no problems.
The crew spent LOTS of time re-folding packing blankets after they were used.  Precision of folding seemed to be important.
When we saw how slow they were going to continue to move, I instructed them to finish unloading the truck, then move the two pianos.  I wanted them off the job, they were costing a ridiculous amount.
We had three young ladies (late teens to early thirties) using a Suburban that were accomplishing more than a "professional" crew of four men.
The following week I contacted the owner (same man I talked to on moving day) to express my concerns again.  He said he would check things out and get back to me.  He backed his crew and said that they had done what they were supposed to.  Because of my concerns he took 3/4 of an hour off of the bill, but still charging us for 7 3/4 hours.  He stated that "I believe this is more than fair."
We moved again a year later and used a different mover.  They were a wonderful contrast - quick, professional, pleasant, and much less expensive.
I recently joined Angie's List, so am reviewing it now even though the service was completed several months ago.
