Taylor and Son Construction

Run from Taylor and Son! Colton is dishonest doesn't have a clue what he's doing and if he has a helper with a first name starting with B is even worse. Very first thing our adjuster asked for a break down of the bid every line needed details. Colton somehow didn't understand this. I spent over an hour and a half breaking his bid down. His first estimate was on lined paper with no letterhead! Then repair work started his helper had to Google everything and mad inappropriate comments about his activity on dating sites next came cutting cedar shakes on my front porch killing 7 goldfish from saw dust getting into the pond. His helper was an alcoholic bringing beer in his cooler to my home. Didn't bother me in the beginning until I realized he had to have a beer or he couldn't function. His helper bragged about how he built all these places around town but had to google everything it seemed. I provided many materials not on his estimate. Some of items he over estimated costs others were way under estimated. His helper took it upon himself to use boxes I had on the front porch for masking materials. He also pin nailed my black plastic to a door way. He then used 2 boxes of mud a full bucket of mud, and some of his own mud to texture my small kitchen. The texture was supposed to be blended to match existing. What I'm left with is a ton of tiny super heavy texture, 4 hours of cleaning overspray from 2 other rooms and I'm still finding it. I hate the texture with a passion! Colton did not account for replacing belly paper over flooring insulation. Thankfully I had plastic but that started them using almost a full roll of plastic I had intended for other projects. Colton isn't clean and tidy. His helper would stop what he was doing when the site became too messy multiple times. I have scratches and dents on my deck from their equipment, 2 doors from them taking them on and off the hinges every day they were here. They attempted to install laminate countertop. The helper had to take scrap material and a router bit home to practise! Next day they screwed a scrap board to the top of my pond when I asked if it was screwed to it the helper made snide comments towards me! I left with my daughter who has migraines to keep her away from the glue fumes. When I got home after over 6 hours they still didn't have the countertop on. Another company 3 hours start to finish. It doesn't take all day to put on decking, and laminate when you know what your doing. That night at 9:30 I called it quits for the countertop his helper refused to give up even after I told him no more fumes and got a towel with paint thinner to try and fix their screw up. Our agreement was that his dad who has experience was to be on site for the majority of the work. To this day I have yet to speak with him in any form. They were here for nearly 3 weeks. He left us that night with a mess on the floor of shavings that could have scratched, a mess on the front porch, a mess on the back deck, a front door that doesn't open like it used to building materials I can't return sun faded wood trim and a ton more stress. I'm out well over $1500 don't make the same mistake I did.
