Horrible
This first paragraph is what I posted on Facebook at the end of August 2012
"I have some very negative stuff to say about this contractor "Brawn Construction" here in Yakima. I gave him $1000.00
up front to remodel my pantry. Nick Brawn , the owner started April  27th and now it is the end of August 2012 and so far he has.....maybe been here 4 times doing work. So far all that has been done is he knocked out the old walls of the pantry in the garage and has ONLY put up a stud wall frame...nothing else!!  He avoids my  text message s and avoids answering my phone calls and rarely  answers my voice mail messages. BRAWN CONSTRUCTION has proven to be VERY UNRELIABLE AND
UNTRUSTWORTHY"
Well after posting the above statement on Facebook about the end of August 2012...he called me and asked me to remove my post, because he would come and do work???well after 1 week, he came and did the insulation and then he came again the first of October and put up sheet rock and did a very shoddy job?..and since then NOTHING. And today?s date is November 8,
2012. My patience is worn out. I now plan to hire someone else to finish this job, thru Angies List
I have begged and pleaded for months, I even tried to appeal to his sense of honor and decency, but nothing. I tried very hard to
give him plenty of opportunity to complete this small job, but I am done with him. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO DO BUSINESS ...IN A SMALL TOWN, like Yakima. I have just filed with the BBB , so we'll see, but I 'd rather he did not finish...God knows what kind of work he'll do.
The pathetic thing was.... I had a membership with Angies List when I hired this guy, but I obviously was not smart enough to use it. Live and learn :(
From now on I am DEFINITELY using Angies List.
Response from Brawn Construction
"Hello, in regards to The work for the customer. The original estimate for this work was removing an existing built in cabinet to create a closet space. The day i arrived to begin the job the customer informed me she wanted to enlarge the utility room where this cabinet was located by expanding the room in 2 directions further into the garage, this was a verbal request, and i informed her that that was well beyond the original scope of work agreed upon, and that this would cost more to do. She verbally agreed to this. After removing old built in cabinets and 2 walls, new walls were framed and new doorway framed, and a large closet was framed, and a recessed area for the hot water heater was framed. and at this point i attempted to discuss the additional cost this added on work was going to be. The customer did not want to discuss paying for all the extra work she had received. At that point i had well exceeded in work, the dollar amount she had paid me. She became very Rude and Belligerent and would not discuss this with me.The customer had paid me $1000 dollars and until a price for the extra work was agreed upon i stopped work. This customer proceeded to attempt to slander me through social media, so i decided to contact her and try to resolve this. At this point i just wanted to resolve this and had no intent on ever working for this woman again, So to try to make piece with her i Agreed to come back, insulate and and drywall on the new walls, and closets that were built. I went back and did this for her. Lesson learned, always get customer changes in writing. This customer at this time has received $2500 dollars worth of work and has only paid me $1,000 dollar"
