He answered almost right away. It has been my experience that when you tell a plumber that you have a leak they respond quickly, but this guy was and quot;slammedand quot; and not able to make it that day. He said that if I could not get anybody else, call back and he could get there in the AM. I was not able to reach another plumber, so I called back, maybe an hour later. and quot;I'm completely slammed, tomorrowand quot; When I reminded him what he had told me, he said maybe he could make it in the afternoon. BTW, I had identified exactly what the problem was and told him so on the phone. So he did show up the next afternoon, and told me it was the bypass valve (which I had already told him )I would have to order the parts from sears, and he had stopped the leak (He didn't) charged me 80.00
|There were issues getting the parts so it was a week before I called back to have him actually do the job. It was a Fri afternoon, and no suprise he was and quot;completely slammedand quot; We agreed on Monday. I called Mon AM to get an estimate of when he would be there, and was told he was and quot;copletely slammedand quot;
|When I reminded him he finally got there and did the job - another $80

.The plumber came the day I called and determined it was coming from the toilet, which wasn't set properly on the floor seal. The toilet was re-set on a new seal, but leaked again a couple of days later. The plumber came out that day and decided to replace all seals in the tank. I wasn't charged for this second visit because he said it could be something that might have been caught on the first visit. I was pleased that the second visit was free and no charge for parts.

I called this company to repair a showerhead that was dripping. I had done some reading on shower drips and figured it was probably the cartridge that needed replacing. I asked the dispatcher to have the plumber get me a written estimate for the work this time, because I had used them before. The dispatcher Michelle said, "We don't give written estimates." They refused to give me a written estimate; in fact, they refused to provide any firm estimate at all. The plumber arrived on time, but by his own account, he apparently sat in my driveway for about 10 minutes looking for his paperwork or something. He took the shower handle apart then he told me that he did not have the correct Delta replacement cartridge with him. He put the handle back together, and said that he would have to order a cartridge and come back. I asked him how much all of this was going to cost, and said he wasn't sure, but that he would try to keep it at about $150.00. He came back a couple of days later with the part. He did replace the cartridge, but in doing so, he also changed the position of the hot and cold water so that as you turn the water off, it gets hotter instead of colder. He didn't bother to tell me this, though. It's a real safety hazard, because most people operate on the assumption that as you turn the water off, it gets colder, not hotter. Now I'm going to have to get another plumber in to fix it. The plumber handed me a bill for $187.74, which included two hours of labor, trip charge, etc. Assuming that the bill covered everything, I paid in it full. But it gets better. Last week, they sent me an additional bill for $89.02 for the first visit, the one where the plumber took the handle apart and then told me he didn't have the part in his truck. I have refused to pay the bill, because I believe that I have already paid in full for their services, they did a very poor job, and then grossly overcharged for it. I did tell them about the switching of the hot and cold water lines, and to their credit, the dispatcher stated that they would fix it. Unfortunately, the only guy they would send out was the same plumber who screwed it up in the first place! I told them I wanted this fixed ASAP, and the dispatcher said she would talk with the owner and get back to me. That was over a week ago, and I have heard nothing from them since. When they refused to give me any written estimate, or even a firm verbal estimate for the work to be done, it should have been a red flag. Any plumbing firm that will not provide a firm written estimate should be avoided. I will certainly never use this firm again. Update: 2/20/11 Have never heard from the owner, despite their promises. The handle for the shower fell off yesterday.

I called on a Wed. They said that Thursday was booked, but someone would be there on Friday at 09:00. They called at 08:30 and let me know that he would be late because of an earlier job that was behind schedule. He arrived at about 09:30. He was done by 10:30-11:00. He asked me if I wanted him to clean up the dust in the shower, which I declined since I would be patching it later and generating 10Xs more dust. The cost was more than the informal estimate given over the phone, but the circumstances were also not standard considering the cutting a hole in the ceiling and all. All told, the project went well.
