He was just wonderful as he was the first time you recommended him. His work is top notch. He came in, saw the problem and in fact spent more time figuring out exactly what he could do. He studied the problem and solved the it in the very best way. When I talked to him on the phone he told me that it would probably be a $120 but when he got out here and saw what the problem was he fixed it for less. His quality of work is wonderful because my door now seals so well that when I open it I have to pull it because of the vacuum it creates in the house. It was done before I could see light. I called him on Friday morning and we live not far from him so he stopped by on his way home from his other job as well as fixed it that afternoon.
Description of Work: I used D E K Construction about a week and a half ago to work on my front door.

We had a slow, longstanding leak in the wall behind the cabinets, which we didn't know about. The vinyl, underlayment, subfloor, and wall were all destroyed. The studs were rotted out at the bottom. Mr. Kulla came out promptly and worked out what my husband could do to keep the costs down. He subcontracted the plumbing fix and even up-graded our plumbing for a refrigerator ice-maker, just for the cost of parts. The repairs were done quickly and beautifully. The wall looks like it was never cut open, and we were totally impressed with the stud repair. He did a wonderful job and we highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Rot removal, plumbing repair, repaired studs and subfloor, replaced the drywall (taped and textured).

We are extremely pleased with the professional manner in which he did all three phases. In addition to fantastically beautiful work by David, he was prompt every day to start work and finish what he said he would accomplish. He also cleaned up the destruction or reconstruction mess each day. Even though we told David that the carpeting was to be replaced after he completed the work he insisted on placing drop cloths leading to the particular work site and picking the up every night. The first phase was the complete remodel of our master bathroom with the exception of the Plumbing (shower enclosure, sink and toilet). David completely gutted the master bathroom including removing and replacing the sub floor in preparation for new flooring that was installed by another company. Throughout our entire upper floor and one door frame and door replacement on the lower floor, David set the door frames and all solid core doors. Eight individual framings and doors to absolutely perfect alignment where these heavier solid core doors open and close with great ease. He suggested and installed handle door hardware that is perfect for us older folks. Since David saw that there was room for an open shelf recessed cabinet unit that wasn't there before and would give us additional usage in addition to the recessed medicine cabinet unit for which he also cut in and framed. David did a great, great job giving us the open recessed shelf unit that was again beautiful finished off. Needless to say David gave our master bathroom a completely new look including wains wall covering and rail. David removed our entire kitchen sub floor and replaced it in preparation for new flooring installed by another company. David did remove and replace kitchen appliances for us. He did another beautiful job removing and replacing the door and arch between our kitchen and dining room. David did removal and replacement (using pre finished natural birch wood and casing) on two archways in our home. All this work, three phases, was performed over a two month period. Since we were on a three week vacation, this is the reason for the two month work remodel. We did offer David the keys to our home (he did have on in the event we would be on an errand when he was scheduled to work) while on vacation to continue remodeling but he felt more comfortable with us around and having and indoor pet cat that we consider part of our family. Our cost for the bath remodel including a new window framing as well as door framing and door replacement (solid core door) was just about $2500. The work done on our kitchen cost just $800 excluding the flooring. He is honest, fair and wonderfully likable family man.
Description of Work: David Kulla did remodeling work for us in three separate phases.

David did 80% of the work himself. He subbed the electrical and plumbing and carpeting. Everything else was David--hands on. The price was appropriate to the job. The price turned out to be a bargain based on the quality of the work performed. David went beyond our expectations. He color coordinated the hardward to our existing hardware (without our imput) and he went so far as cleaning the newly installed window on the inside and outside and matched the paint around the window on the inside and the outside. My wife and I were very, very satisfied with David's work. He is honest, trustworthy and timely.
Description of Work: David took an unused space, with a dirt floor and turned it into a large walk-in closet plus a huge storage area. This included sheetrock and electrical and paint and a small plumbing change, plus installing a 4 by 4 foot window in the adjacent room, plus carpeting and doors and all the hardware that goes with it.
