Thadd worked with us on decking choice and color schemes. He gave his recommendations. We gave ours and we met in the middle. There were a few things we wanted that we just couldn't make happen with the decking choice we made. We asked them to paint the railings for us as well. The quote was very reasonable.
They were great. We put a deposit down through PayPal and the decking was delivered a few days later. The boys came out and painted the deck. I noticed a few spots for them to add more stain, it was done quickly.
After that, they tore up the deck in sections and finished it in a couple of days. The deck looks great, it feels great, everything was cleaned up and looked awesome. They hauled everything away and washed it all down. We are extremely happy with the project, price and clean up. I am asking them for a quote to work on the yard in the front.
Contacted John to do all of my remodel needed on my house. John was very thorough in listening to my needs and understanding my timeline & budget. All the work was completed while I was out of the country so I relied on his judgment in making decisions w/o me there. I was happy on how everything turned out.
Since the work was done, some of the tiles and other things he did fell off or weren't done right. I believe this is because he relies on unskilled laborers to do some of his work and he doesn't supervise them enough @ times. he has come back and fixed the items needed to be fixed but there are a few items remaining and he has been too busy to come back to fix. I believe that he will even though it's been a couple of years since the work and I haven't been in much of a hurry. now that I am trying to sell the house I will be hoping he will be available.
*supposed to rat proof the attics...one attic had 80% of the wall void covered with mesh but not the outer few feet on either side, rats could get in still...i fixed it myself...the other main attic had 3 of the 5 main vents chewed thru....that would be the first item i would check if i was going to secure an attic from rats*lots of the crawlspace insulation is hanging off and not touching the underside of the floor...they used the wrong size batting in some areas....also they used cheap string instead of nylon or metal stringers....*they charged me a ton of money ($2000) to do some wall repairs after the electrian made holes in them....some of them need another coat of mud and in some areas the wrong color (really wrong) of paint was used....one repair in particular was done with an ugly bulge in it and you can tell they threw a coat of paint on when the mud was still wet.....this is in the main enty of my beautiful 1895 historic home.....kind of a big deal*when i asked him about coming back to finish it he just blew me off...i think if you charge that kind of money you need to follow thru on your product....*they cut corners with materials and labor, assuming i would never check the work.....
a big issue was that john himself was only there a bit, he had his "workers" doing most of the work....he seem like a nice, talented guy but he needs to take responsibility for the job his workers do....i ended up having to spend a lot of time doing additional work, they did the easy, obivous parts and i had to do the hard parts...i guess a lot of people take it at face value and would never crawl under the house or in the attic to make sure the work was done....this is a $700,000 house that is a big part of my life, and these items listed above are a fairly big deal in my mind!
