I was assured by the service provider that the job would be completed before I came back from my trip but this was false. The shower is 3/4 complete, the glass is not installed and there are wires hanging out of my bathroom wall which is dangerous. The apparatus of the shower head is not on as well. Everything is missing, there are holes in the shower. I've also tried calling the service provider three times and still have yet to receive a response. The project was paid in full, all $9,000. I just want my shower finished.

John was recommended to us by our real estate agent to do the inspection when we bought our house. During the inspection, we learned he was a contractor too. He was willing to give us a good deal, and since our agent was also a family friend, we went with him. We had a lot of work to be done, and for the most part it was done adequately. We did have some items stolen while the work was going on, but John reduced our bill to cover replacements. Some things were not done very well, so he had someone come out to fix them later on. The project did take significantly longer than expected and costed more than we planned, but overall we thought the overall quality was adequate. However, just today we learned that the roofing on our garage was not done correctly and there has been moisture leaking into the attic space for 4 years, so our roof will need to be replaced, possibly on both structures.

The deck off the back of our split level finally gave up when my nephew fell through it last summer. Thadd and crew gave me a good solid estimate. They were the only ones who said that the supports were fine, the railings were fine, and it was just the floor that needed replaced.
Thadd worked with us on decking choice and color schemes. He gave his recommendations. We gave ours and we met in the middle. There were a few things we wanted that we just couldn't make happen with the decking choice we made. We asked them to paint the railings for us as well. The quote was very reasonable.
They were great. We put a deposit down through PayPal and the decking was delivered a few days later. The boys came out and painted the deck. I noticed a few spots for them to add more stain, it was done quickly.
After that, they tore up the deck in sections and finished it in a couple of days. The deck looks great, it feels great, everything was cleaned up and looked awesome. They hauled everything away and washed it all down. We are extremely happy with the project, price and clean up. I am asking them for a quote to work on the yard in the front.

Contacted John to do all of my remodel needed on my house. John was very thorough in listening to my needs and understanding my timeline & budget. All the work was completed while I was out of the country so I relied on his judgment in making decisions w/o me there. I was happy on how everything turned out.

Since the work was done, some of the tiles and other things he did fell off or weren't done right. I believe this is because he relies on unskilled laborers to do some of his work and he doesn't supervise them enough @ times. he has come back and fixed the items needed to be fixed but there are a few items remaining and he has been too busy to come back to fix. I believe that he will even though it's been a couple of years since the work and I haven't been in much of a hurry. now that I am trying to sell the house I will be hoping he will be available.

bad experience overall...john is a very nice guy but i feel that i got scammed a bit...he did the inspection as well as the work, my first mistake....quoted me a price then gave me a big discount that dropped his bid way down...mostly crawlspace and attic work...one item was to replace 3 heating ducts due to rat damage....after work was done i crawled around underneath and saw that none were replaced....response was "i went back down there and i didn't see the damage, maybe the homeowners replaced them"  the ducts were obivously not new or repaired, also why would the homeowners replace them and not even tell me?  out of the goodness of their hearts?  they wouldn't budge a bit for home repairs or a low home appraisel in the first place(home owners)....so john responds that he already gave me a big discount on the work so it is a done deal.....hmmmmm...i was given the discount thinking that the heat ducts would be replaced and/or repaired for that bid price, that is why i went with his company....seems weird and sketchy to me....some of the other work was good but here is a list of the other things not done the right way....
*supposed to rat proof the attics...one attic had 80% of the wall void covered with mesh but not the outer few feet on either side, rats could get in still...i fixed it myself...the other main attic had 3 of the 5 main vents chewed thru....that would be the first item i would check if i was going to secure an attic from rats*lots of the crawlspace insulation is hanging off and not touching the underside of the floor...they used the wrong size batting in some areas....also they used cheap string instead of nylon or metal stringers....*they charged me a ton of money ($2000) to do some wall repairs after the electrian made holes in them....some of them need another coat of mud and in some areas the wrong color (really wrong) of paint was used....one repair in particular was done with an ugly bulge in it and you can tell they threw a coat of paint on when the mud was still wet.....this is in the main enty of my beautiful 1895 historic home.....kind of a big deal*when i asked him about coming back to finish it he just blew me off...i think if you charge that kind of money you need to follow thru on your product....*they cut corners with materials and labor, assuming i would never check the work.....
a big issue was that john himself was only there a bit, he had his "workers" doing most of the work....he seem like a nice, talented guy but he needs to take responsibility for the job his workers do....i ended up having to spend a lot of time doing additional work, they did the easy, obivous parts and i had to do the hard parts...i guess a lot of people take it at face value and would never crawl under the house or in the attic to make sure the work was done....this is a $700,000 house that is a big part of my life, and these items listed above are a fairly big deal in my mind!

I was given an estimate in a timely manner, and once I decided to go with this contractor, he began and finished the work punctually.

I really liked this company and would use them again for major and minor repairs and construction. I liked that John Wright shared ideas with me about the possibilities for the deck and he was excited to use Trex. A few things that struck me as less than perfect about the company, but I have never worked with any contractor for more than 2 days that doesn't do the following: 1) He thought the whole deck could be done on a 3 day weekend. It was actually 3 weeks from start to finish (not that it was worked on all that time--different delays came up). 2) Often, when the crew was supposed to show up and didn't, I would be the one to call to find out why. I usually gave them 24 hours to contact me to let me know that materials weren't in yet, or whatever the reason was, but rarely heard from them first. This drives me absolutely batty, but again, I've never had a contractor NOT do this. It's a stereotype that I have found to be true. 3) Somewhere in the order, the railing types I wanted (round ones) were switched with square ones. As you can see from the pictures (if I can upload them), the square ones looked great. But somewhere between the company and the supplier, errors were made and I didn't find out until the railings were mostly installed. As I said, the error worked out great for us, but in the future, I would want to make sure I communicated in person (not over the phone) the materials I wanted.

They did an excellent job. John was aware that I was on a very tight budget for this project and he went above and beyond to work with me on materials and labor, while still doing very professional work. This project was to convert a small interior storage closet into functional laundry room. The floor of the room was inexplicably at ground level, 26" lower than the rest of the floors in the house, and needed to be raised along with the water heater. Plumbing and electrical fixtures needed to be rerouted from the opposite side of the wall where the laundry was located previously. The doorway was 24" wide and needed to be widened to fit the washer and dryer. I also wanted to incorporate an adjoining closet to increase the size of the room and remove an unused electrical sub panel. The crew worked very quickly and by the second day I thought they were nearly done. I was pleasantly surprised when John called me to ask if I could have the flooring and paint ready the next day. I had assumed due to the low estimate, that the room would be unfinished and had planned to paint and install the flooring myself. In retrospect, I realized that this would have been a real pain once the water heater and laundry equipment were back in place, so I'm grateful that John handled it. Although the painting was done quickly, the work is professional and looks very good. The majority of the work was done in 3 days, however there was a bit of a delay in wrapping up the project. I wasn't concerned with the delay, since I was aware from the start that John had accommodated my schedule by squeezing this project between larger jobs that he was already working on and the work that was left was not even in the original bid. The final result looks great and I'm very impressed with what John was able to do on such a tight budget and in so short a time. He completed everything for his original estimate, even the items that I hadn't expected him to do. I would absolutely recommend him to others and will call him again when I have another project.

Top notch work. The house looks beautiful, they were very patient with my indecision on colors and provided good advice. I originally called them only about the painting, but when I told them the paint job would have to wait until I had the decking replaced from having a hot tub removed, they told me they did that do. In fact, since John is also a home inspector he found an area of the deck where it was not being supported properly. So I had them do all the deck repairs. You cannot tell at all where the big hole was. There was a lot of house and deck to paint and it all looks wonderful. I also needed to have the gutter replaced on the barn--it was falling apart and totally dysfunctional, and they did that as well as replacing all of the fluorescent light bulbs, which were very high up. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the work and the fair price. The job did take longer for various reasons and a couple of times they did not come out when planned. But I was not in a big rush, so the delays did not bother me that much.

John Wright of Wright Choice Construction was very professional to work with. His background in construction and home inspection lead us to choose him to restore our house after major flood damage. He was quick to respond to our initial phone call for help and was always quickly contactable there after. John listened to what we needed. He had a competitive bid as compared to two other local contractors for the same work. He and his wife Karen, respectfully guided us through the process of restoring our home, knowing that we were dispalced and dealing with many other problems associated with the flood. His quality of work and willingness to go the extra mile for us at every turn was truly a blessing. John, and his support crew, provided back to us a home that was comforatble, safe, and much improved as was before the flood. He completed the home on time and on budget. We will recommend John Wright and Wright Choice Construction INC. to anyone who needs home construction/ remodeling. Thank you John and Karen for giving us back our home and for for your kindness and professionalism during our time of need. Sincerely, The Joe Richter Family, Snoqualmie, WA 2009
