I received a bid from Stout Roofing to re-sheet and re-roof my house and shed. The bid was about $1500 more and not nearly as detailed as bids I received from two other companies. It left me with a long list of questions. Based on all the questions and the price it was the first bid I discarded. Jake Stout was pleasant and punctual though and I would call him again in the future.

The entire process went great from my initial contact with Jake to the very end. I do a lot of communication via email and was very happy that Jake checked and responded to his email often. We didnt have to play phone tag for days. The crew was always very kind and respectful of our home and children. They clearly worked hard to get the job done in the time period estimated but didn't rush or cut corners. The new roof is beautiful, and I've recommended Stout Roofing of all of my neighbors.

Went well, even though the work was performed mid-winter. Workmanship was great, cleanup was very good, and company President Jake Stout personally came by to inspect the results. We won't use them again because the roof will likely outlive us! but if we moved to a house that needed a new roof, we'd choose them. We received three estimates for doing the work, and all were close to one another, but service with Stout was superior, we think.

Actually, there's no much thing to say about the roofing project - which is a good thing. The drop-off guys came in two days prior to the project kick-off date and collected the garbage bin two days after. Crews on-site are professional and quiet. Not much conversation but worked as hard as other customers said on Angies' list. I asked for a walk-through with Mr. Stout after the project's done and he explained to me all the details of the project. Overall the experience is smooth and easy. And the price is very fair. Believe me, I built an Excel sheet book for the whole biding thing and they provided the best service with great price. I would definitely recommend them to my friends.

We did not choose Stout Roofing to reroof our house. There was almost no reason not to. We just went with a different company.
Description of Work: Jake Stout came to our home and thoroughly inspected the roof. He clearly explained the service he would provide. Two days later, he emailed his estimate. He was polite, thorough and pleasant to interact with.

The owner of Stout came out that same afternoon, the day before T-giving, even though he knew we wouldn't be home while he was there. He followed up after T-giving to let us know what he found and offered to come back and put a tarp up if the leak continued until we made a decision on whether to repair or replace the existing roof. He gave us an estimate that is within our budget and didn't try to hard sell us, as we had been warned that many roofers do. Stout Roofing's responsiveness gets a big 'A' in my book. We decided to hold off until Spring to replace the current roof and Stout is definintely in the running as a vendor we will strongly recommend. Best of all, they didn't charge us anything for coming out and looking.
Description of Work: We noticed a small water stain on the ceiling in the master bathroom of our newly purchased home. We didn't know if it was old or new as the attic had been completely cleaned by the former owner. We needed it checked out though.

Jake Stout himself came and inspected my roofs, and even gave an estimate for a repair, as well as the needed replacement. He had knowledge, experience, and the patience to explain to me the options. I liked Jake, and wanted him for the job. It turned out to be an easy choice; he offered the lowest bid with the same materials. Work was completed in the time frame that was quoted. The roofs look great.

We obtained bids from a half-dozen roofing firms and Jake really stood out throughout the proposal process, answering all our many questions, dealing with our HOA issues and timing concerns, and not trying to "sell us" something or recommend lower-quality materials. Based on that, and the references we contacted, we were very happy to choose Stout to do our roof. Now that it is done, we are even happier. Jake's crew started on time, finished on time, and did a great job with no unpleasant surprises. Final cost was just what we had agreed to, and every detail had been taken care of. We were especially impressed with the "little things", like, the way the crew cleaned up the property at the end of each work day, and were extra careful around plants and such. The night they delivered materials to our house we had a windstorm, and I was worried about sheets of plywood flying off my roof overnight. I called him in the evening, figuring I'd have to leave a message, but he picked up the phone, listened to my concern and explained how his guys had secured and protected the materials before they left. Sure enough, next morning, not even the waterproof covering had been blown off the plywood. Totally professional, and above-and-beyond responsiveness. I hope I never have to have another roof done, but if I do I'm for-sure going to call Jake. Couldn't be happier.

I have a hectic schedule and they worked with me to drop off roofing sample etc. They gave me good ideas -- I was going to have them refinish my front door and they suggested just replacing it which looked much better and it turns out was cheaper than refinishing all the curves in the door carving and trying to even out the stains on the existing door. they also were able to get the work done in a very reasonable time for me to put the house on the market. I was totally satisfied.
Description of Work: Stout Roofing replaced my roof for the best price of all the other estimates I received. They did an excellent job. I was totally happy with it. I also hired them do some other work (I did not include that pricing in the above amount). This included power washing the house and driveway, replace the back deck , repaired the front porch and built a fence. They did an excellent job on everything and I would definitely hire them again. They were professional and qualified.

Stout's crew arrived on time and weren't daunted by their material being unable to get all the way up to our house. They completed the project within a week. When we complained about debris from the old roof blocking our front door, Stout had people there at 6 AM to clear up the problem. We were very happy with their work and would recommend them to anyone else with a roofing project.
Description of Work: Stout Roofing did a complete reroofing of our house over the period of a week in August. The services involved stripping off the existing asphalt shingle roof, replacing some water-damaged sheathing, installing new composite shingles, redoing valleys & gutters, installing ridge vents, replaced two skylights, etc.

Overdue review of Stout roofing. They replaced our first roof in 2001. we were selling our house with its dilapidated cedar shake roof, and the buyers wanted new composite. Their bid was competitive, they showed up promptly, kept the worksite finicky-neat, and finished on time. Our next-door neighbors commented that they were polite and respectful and very careful workers, and then they used them to do their house, too! They were very pleased with price and quality, as well. We bought an old house after that, and the roof started leaking the first year we were in it (2002). I called Jake Stout, and he came over in the rain--in January--and crawled around on my roof for half an hour. He came back in, told me it was just moss that he'd cleaned off and it should stop the leaking. We didn't need a new roof. Insisted I NOT PAY HIM. He finally agreed I could send him $100 later, if I really wanted. Yes, he fixed the leak for free, and then told us we don't need to replace it, just keep the moss cleaned off. Wow. We decided to sell that house in 2007. (Yes, awful timing.) We decided to replace the (not leaking!) roof to take it off the table as an issue for potential buyers. (We had to say on the seller's disclosure form that the roof had leaked, so we decided it made sense to just put a new one on rather than raise concerns/have a potential haggling point.) It was a huge roof, gables, complex, only $13,000 for a 50-year roof. Couldn't believe it. Same friendly, efficient crew, and beautiful roof installed in exactly the time frame we were told to expect. These guys are just amazing.

I called Jake Stout three times and emailed him twice between 7/20 and 8/2, in order to receive a quote on my roof which was leaking. He never returned my calls and never replied to my emails. Excellent job by Jake and his crew. They took little hiccoughs (such as having to hand carry the shingles up a ladder to the roof) cheerfully and without complaint. My garage will need a new roof in about 10 years; I'll be sure to use Jake again.

A little hard to get a hold of them on the phone but they showed up on time, did a wonderful job and did everything they could to keep the job reasonably priced. A very pleasant experience and this is a company that we will use again in the near future for other houses that we own.
Description of Work: These folks do a wonderful job. They came out to give me an estimate and told me I did not need to replace everything, just the peak and do some repairs. The peak materials that were used on the house originally were not available and they had to use new materials but gave us a very good price on the materials and the work was done quickly and efficiently. I would recommend them for roofing work any time and plan to have them look at the roof on another of our houses.

We have a really old house and I appreciated that Jake took that into consideration when preparing his bid. There were no surprises when it was time to write the check. His roofers were friendly and professional, they kept everything clean and they got the job done very quickly. Finally, there was no damage to the landscaping, barely a leaf knocked off. I don't think I'll need another roof for a long time but if I do, I hope Jake is still in business.

I have a leaking roof and called Stout Roofing on June 26th to see if they could provide an estimate to repair. Jake Stout returned the call and said he would be out to take a look the next day (which he did). On June 29th, I called to see if he had an estimate prepared, but only got a voice mail so I left a message. Never heard from him. So on July 10th, I called and left another message asking if he had an estimate. It's now July 13th, no call, no message, no nothing. In my books that's lousy customer service. Jake must have tons of money since he isn't interested in earning any of mine.

I live in the Saybrook community in Woodinville an am doing significant remodeling work on our home, including the replacement of the original roof. I received 3 quotes for roof work from the common roofers that I see replacing roofs in the neighborhood. Jake?s bid was very competitive (in the middle of the two). I recognize the complexity and costs associated with the roofing business, so I didn't?t take the decision lightly. I checked Stout?s insurance/licensing/etc and all checked out fine. I also tracked down a few references (some of which Jake didn't?t supply) and all of them were very happy customers. Jake?s crew was terrific ? great result, low mess, and great attention to detail. The roof looks beautiful. They accommodated all of our requests. Also, the other major work on my home is being overseen by a general contractor who was a foreman for the builder when the neighborhood was originally constructed and knows the homes and building practices really well. He was very happy of the work Jake?s crew did, and this is a huge ?positive? since I see how critical he is with building practices and other trades that are currently performing work on the home. I am recommending Stout Roofing to all of my neighbors. I?d give my first ?A+? if Angie?s list would let me!

Description of Work: Jake was asked to give a bid on roof repairs on two fourplexes adjacent to each other, on a two layer roof with various small problems. He fixed the problems while he was there, and gave us a clean bill of health where 1-2 other companies had said we needed some repairs that were a bit more costly. I personally have used Stout roofing for my own home, and on many, many clients homes. All of us would use his company again.

Stout Roofing Stout Roofing, did a full inspection. repair on our roof replacing damaged shingles and assuring it won't leak in the winter . They are all great people, their work is always very neat and very clean. They have actually done work in our house while we were not home, and we didn't even know that they were here. We have never even found one piece of material in the yard after they did the work. Really professional! They are going to re-roof our house next year.

. We had a couple of leaks at a rental house of ours and after several patches with another company to no avail (and already $700.00), we called Stout Roofing. Jake responded right away, advised me that the best course was to replace the roof on the back half of the house and that the front was just fine. He could not guarantee patching and the roof was too far gone for that to be a good option. We hired them , they completed the work on time and two years later we still have no problems. They were honest and a pleasure to deal with.

Stout Roofing did a great job! Jake Stout and his crew are a pleasure to deal with. I obtained 5 different estimates and theirs was close to the lowest and had the best value and warranty. After the roof was on Jake came by a couple of days later and did a quality control check and made a few changes that I wouldn't have even known about - but he wanted to make sure everything was just right.I highly recommend them and in fact have recommended them to multiple friends and clients. All of which have also received excellent service. One of my clients had a new roof put on prior to putting their home on the market. When something came up during a very detailed and nit-picky structural inspection, a simple phone call to Jake, and they were out there quickly and took care of the issue.

The roof on my rental property was the original mid-60's roof and developed a major leak. I initially called him and left a message, he called back right away and happened to be close to my house. He got right over there and had an estimate emailed to me that night. His price included the Angie's List discount was the best I'd received (I also received bids from Lowes and State Roofing) and it included new skylights, which the others didn't. Given the number of high-profile clients he had, I assumed the price would be higher - a very nice surprise! I had a few questions and he was very responsive in answering them, even over the weekend. He knew that the situation was urgent (the leak damaged a bedroom which was unusable for my tenants) and was able to fit me in between two other jobs. I paid the initial installment (half) on Saturday, the materials & dumpster were delivered on Monday and work started on Tuesday. They were finished by Wed afternoon. I live out of state but my tenants gave the crew very good reviews - professional, courteous, quick and clean. They did a great job cleaning up and, according to the tenants, the new roof looks great! I went with Certainteed due to their Best Buy rating on CR, I picked out the Heather Blend based on the photo in the catalog and Jake approved the choice. The tenants say the roof is "actually quite pretty". I am very, very glad I went with Jake and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed 1 layer composition shingle roof, replaced 2 sheets of plywood, replaced rotted fascia (2x8) and eaves, replaced 3 skylights. New composite roof installed using Certainteed Landmark composite shingles (approx 30 squares). The homes is a mid-60's rambler, approximately 2000 sf.

I received a number of estimates, all in the same ballpark for price. I went with Jake Stout because he did not try to upsell to a more expensive product and was straightforward in discussing vent options, flashing, and other items that go along with a project like this. He was very low-key in his approach. He was also flexible about coordinating with the other contractors (insulators, electricians) involved. His crew was very hard-working. So hard that on the first day we actually had to request they leave (at 7pm) so we could start getting our kids ready to go to bed without banging on the roof. After a conversation with Mr. Stout about clarifying communication to avoid this in the future we had no further misunderstandings. The crew tore off the roof and covered it with large tarps and Mr. Stout just asked for a couple days notice as the electricians were finishing so he could have his crew return to put the roof back on. It got a little breezy a couple nights while the tarps were on and I asked Mr. Stout to return to try to make them a little less flappy. He came personally to tighten things up. After the roof was back on he sent a carpenter to touch up the wood gutters, including painting, and they replaced a small section that was damaged without my even having to mention it. He offered to match the paint, but I had some of the original on hand, so it wasn't necessary. Stout wasn't the cheapest, but there were no surprises on the final bill which was exactly what was estimated, and he was very professional to work with. This was a very good experience and I really appreciated Mr. Stout's willingness to work around the needs of the other contractors. I will likely need a new garage roof in the near future and I would definitely use Stout again. The other contractors remarked on how good the roof looked. He even left the safety anchors in place at my request so they will be there when I re-shingle the dormers.
Description of Work: Stout roofing provided a new roof to our recently purchased 1931 Tudor home. This included tear-off of multiple layers of composite skip sheeting. Peak vents were added as well as roof jacks for sealed attic spaces, drip edges, flashing, and valleys. Most of the roof is 12/12 pitch, with some 12/24 (really steep!) sections. The project was complicated by coordinating electrical work replacing the old knob and tube wiring and getting weatherization done while the roof was off, allowing access to spaces normally sealed off.

I had a 20 year old cedar shake roof that needed replacing. We selected composition shingles to replace the cedar shakes. Work was completed in two days and the finished roof looks absolutely great!! The crew was pleasant, helpful in explaining what they were doing, careful around the shrubs that surround the house and very meticulous in their workmanship. Work was completed faster than I expected and even a half a day faster than Mr. Stout had estimated. They did an excellent job of cleaning up after the first day and then again when the job was completed. I am very satisfied with all aspects of the roofing job from Stout Roofing, and Mr Stout himself was a very knowledgeable and pleasant person to deal with.
Description of Work: Removed existing cedar shake roof and installed a new composition shingle roof. Roof required approximately 31 squares of shingles. The job also required putting one half inch plywood over the existing spaced sheathing. The job included a continuous ridge vent ventilation system and adding 17 new soffit vents on the roof overhangs. All flashing and plumbing vents were painted to match the roof color.
