Travis came to give a quote and was very punctual and pleasant to work with. We have a cedar shake and it was difficult to find companies to clean them. Overall I am happy with the service that was done. The guy that came out to clean it was very courteous and worked the whole day to get the job done.

Overall, they did a good job. It was a little more expensive than it should have been, but I didn't realize it at the time.

Mike came that afternoon with an estimate and the very next day another guy came to fix it.  And he took before and after photos to show me. Very good and quick work.

Mike Wilson came by at the time we'd arranged, was able to generate a paper estimate on the spot and it was nicely detailed.
This job included power washing the house and large detached garage/shop.  The roof material is flat concrete tiles. There was quite a moss buildup as the last 'roof cleaner' merely swept it.
Eastside applied zinc to minimize future moss buildup.  Plus cleaned the gutters, which also had quite a lot of debris.
I was surprised that only one serviceman arrived for the job but Travis was incredibly hard working and skillful.  The roof was cleaned in about 3 hours and then he spent several more hours cleaning up the ground mess on my and my neighbors property.
The roof looks as good as the day it was installed.  Gutters are clear and exterior cleaned as well.
I would highly recommend Eastside Roof Cleaning for your roof and gutter cleaning.

I contacted Mike and he quickly came out to give me an estimate.  I liked him and felt like he would do a good job -- he also had very good reviews on Angie's List -- at that time.
I couldn't be here the first day they came out to clean the roof  on May 23rd-- that was my first mistake.  When I returned home, the roof looked amazing .  BUT, the flower beds were a  mess, the fountain was full of mud.  The furniture on our covered porch had roof debris on it.  It was obvious that little to no effort was made to cover/protect the areas surrounding the house.  When they came out the next week to finish the cleaning, I was here and took measures myself to cover the fountain -- that I had spent 1-1/2 hours cleaning -- and other plants I didn't want to be further damaged.  When the cleaning was finished, I pointed out some wall areas that had debris splashed on it.  The job was finished to my satisfaction and I wrote a check for the cleaning.
Next comes the treatment.   About 5 weeks later, Travis came out to apply the oil treatment.  When they were done, the roof looked great.  I pointed out a few drips on the fascia boards, that they quickly cleaned up.  I wrote another check for the treatment and they left.  Within   minutes after they pulled out, I spotted an area at the edge of the roof where 2 or 3 shakes were damaged/broken , and there was more oil dripping/staining the fascia board.  I called Travis right away and assumed they'd just turn around and come back to take care of it.  He didn't want to do that.  He assured me that he would tell Mike and someone would be out to take care of it soon.
Well, "soon" has turned into 3+ months and numerous calls to Mike with no result.  It is now the end of October and no one has come out to finish the job.  The last message I left with Mike was on October 2, reminding him again that I needed the shakes repaired, but he didn't respond and no one has come out to take care of it.

In conclusion, the damage to gardens and not completing the job, outweighs the beautiful roof.  I mean other companies can get the same result and be more attentive to protecting the surrounding areas.

UPDATE:  November 6, 2013:  After making another call to Mike, the final repair to the roof has been made.  The oil stains on the fascia board are still there, but at this point, I'll just climb a ladder and take care of it myself.

Did not go well.  Head foreman on job walked out.  Mike then came to try and salvage the job the next day.  Owner was also involved trying to fix things but at the end of the job, we spent a lot of money for a job not well done....roof never seemed like it was repaired properly.

They replaced some of the shakes but apparently forgot to check their work before they left for the day. I found out 2 days later that they had pulled 3 or more old shakes out but didn't put the new ones in and the old shakes were scattered around on the roof. See the picture I have taken.
Called Mike multiple times and he always promised someone would come out to fix it but it never got fixed and no explanation was given unless I called him again. Mike told me that it was too cold and it was dangerous to work on it.
Finally got hold of the owner of the business and the owner was really nice and he promptly fixed it the next day.

Prior to starting our Angie's list membership had contacted 5 companies for estimates.  Estimates were not only higher than previous cost for same service but varied greatly in cost.  Decided to rejoin Angie's List based on previous experiences as a member and the reliability of services/products and ratings on the Angie's List website.   Contacted several companies based on ratings, reviews and experience in cleaning a shake roof.   All were professional in response but Eastside Roofing seemed to have the most experience with shake and the quote was reasonable.  Very glad we did two things in order of priority; 1.  Rejoined Angie's List  2.  Used Eastside Roofing.

Our experience has been more than just good. First, Mike was able to fit us in the week after I signed him on and he was able to finish the job in 2 days like he promised (I have a very large home). The workers did a great job of pressure washing the roof and then cleaning up all the gutters, stucco and siding around the house including taking care of bushes and trees. The roof looked like new after pressure washing. The other plus was the color choice for the TWP roof treatment. I didn't like the color he uses on most homes, so I asked him if I could see a home that has other colors (I had picked a few from the TWP samples). I picked a dark brown color -cedar gold. I am glad I chose the color by looking at a real house because on the sample card the I wouldn't have chosen this color-cedar gold- it looks very different on roof than on the sample card. Both Mike and the owner, Travis, were very helpful. After the treatment was finished and I had paid them I saw that they were listed on Angie's List which had a 10% off coupon- I was very disappointed I hadn't used it as my roof cleaning was VERY expensive. So I called up Mike even though I thought it was a slim possibility that he will do something about it. But to my pleasant surprise he talked with the owner and they gave me 10% refund in check. I can't ask for more. They have been very efficient and done a great job, even though they are quite expensive. However, i will use them again in the future as I don't mind paying more as long as the service is to my satisfaction.

Eastside came and gave me an estimate to clean, repair and oil stain our shake roof. They were able to thoroughly explain the process to me. I was able to schedule them immediately which was important to me. The roof looks great and we are very happy. The service occurred over a span of three days. Would use them again and recommend them

Scheduling went ok, and work finished ontime --- everything appeared good until one day later when it rained.
Water went back out from one of the down sprouts, and made a huge mess arround that area. We wondered why it happened. I took out the down sprout and dug all the way to the underground pipe.
Big unpleasant surprise --- turned out during the gutter cleaning process, instead of taking out the dead leaves, they pushed them down and stuffed into the down sprout!!
After 3 hours of work, I removed all dead leaves myself and everything went back to normal.
Called their sales man, Michael, demanding an explanation – no answer of course. Left message, no call back. Called many times and all the same, and eventually we gave up and just let it go.
Will never hire them again.

Made a special request to not use Korkers on our shake roof (as recommended by roof installer).  Eastside Roof Cleaning did not use Korkers to do the cleaning, but the applicator did use them to apply the treatment against our wishes. Harness hooks are installed on our roof but were not used by the applicator.  I also requested the MSDS (material safety data sheet) so that I could determine what chemicals were used in the treatment.  I was not able to get the information so I don't know what was applied.  In any event, algae reappeared on my roof 6 months later so whatever was applied is not effective.
