Fantastic - Scott Taylor agreed to rebuild our large, old deck even though it was at our cabin out in the mountains. He then had many good ideas about how to redesign the original deck in ways that were more efficient and also looked better. He was very communicative and explained everything as we went along. He and his team worked day and night, even in the pouring rain and during the challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic. I would definitely hire him again, he is so professional and also very personable.

Scott was great to work with! He was very knowledgeable about deck and decking materials and explained in detail why certain things needed to be done. He used top quality materials and paid particular attention to details and appearance. On top of that, he was able to start the project two months earlier than originally estimated. The result--our deck looks much better than it ever looked prior. Scott was responsive, easy to work with and professional. He also left no trace of leftover materials after his work was done. I highly recommend and would work with Scott again.

We were very pleased with Scott’s work. He was very professional, skilled, and pleasant to work with. He listened carefully to us regarding exactly what we were looking for in design, etc., offering suggestions and working hard to one up with the final product, which we were very happy with. We would certainly hire him again.

Scott provided a good quote that described the work to be done with accurate pricing. This included: demo of the existing structure, disposal of the old decking and footings, installation of new footings, framing, Azek decking with a picture-frame border, and aluminum picket railing. During demolition of the decking, Scott discovered some dry-rot on the siding (where the previous deck hadn't had **any** flashing installed). He was able to add the demo and replacement of that siding with new pre-primed siding (we opted to paint it ourselves) as a separate quote at a per-hour amount with an estimate for hours and materials. The final product is excellent and my family is loving being out on our deck and enjoying our backyard! The only issues we ran into were in regard to communication and scheduling. Scott did a good job of communicating the plan when he was on-site or had finished up a stage in the project, but he did not do a good job of keeping us in the loop when schedules changed or there were delays. We also were the ones that needed to initiate contact after the schedule had gone off-track and find out when the next stage was going to begin. I would've appreciated (and would ask for) a more concrete schedule for the project laid out at the beginning and updates over time if that schedule needed to adjust. (Note: The railing was a known time-delay in the process and Scott did a good job communicating that it would be 3-4 weeks after construction of the deck was complete before the railing was finished being fabricated and installed.) Generally he was responsive on the first text/email, but the follow-through to finish the conversation and answer all questions wasn't always there. All said, Scott did a great job with the work we hired him to do and the deck is fabulous. It might've taken longer than originally hoped and with a few more bumps in the road, but as I said above, we're very happy with the end result.

Scott replaced a large deck on my property. Summary: 1) The quality of his work is exceptional. He treats your house as if it is his house. I have hired very few contractors with this attention to detail. 2) When you bring up something you would like addressed, it gets addressed. Very responsive to customer feedback. 3) He's a great person. He cares, he is sincere, he works **** ** your behalf. I'd hire this contractor again in a second.

Scott came out to give me an estimate (along with 3 other contractors) and his quote was by far the lowest, so we went with him. We had sketched out the layout we wanted, and Scott worked with us to refine it and adjust his bid. He also worked with us on getting the right decking selected. Scott and his guys worked hard over the next few weeks and built our deck in reasonable time, about 3 weeks. There were a few bumps in the road, all within what we'd reasonably expect, and all of which Scott corrected at no charge. We really appreciate that! The biggest surprise was when the custom railings came! They were beyond our expectations and look beautiful. I'd recommend Scott and his team as they were affordable and the end product was as nice or nicer than we expected. Thanks again Scott!

We are very pleased with our deck and would hire Scott again. The pros of working with him: 1. He takes the time to listen and understand your project well. We did not have all the details solidified concerning our deck and he was very patient in explaining our options. He came out several times in the planning/estimating process to go over new ideas and changes in direction. 2. He is committed to delivering a quality project. After building the upper level of the deck he suggested we rethink the location of our stairs to better join the upper and lower level of our deck and make for a more seamless transition between the two areas. This suggestion not only increased the usability of our deck, but saved us money and lawn space as well. 3. His price is fair. We had 4 companies provide estimates on our deck and his price, while not the lowest, was certainly within a reasonable range. His estimate was very clear and detailed. To give a complete picture, there were a few minor challenges. 1. Our project started a little late, ran a few days late and the duration of the project lasted longer than needed. They usually only worked on our deck a few days a week. 2. There were a couple of issues that arose during the project that I feel should have been either anticipated or avoided. One being the bottom step of our deck, where it meets the lawn, is halfway under ground due to the ground being sloped. Only after the steps were built were we told that we would need to excavate our lawn and have a retaining wall built so that the whole step is above ground and would not rot. This is something that seems like could have been anticipated and communicated beforehand. We found a workaround that we are happy with so in the end it ended up not being a major deal. Overall, very pleased with our deck. It looks beautiful and it is well built. We recently had a contractor out to install a sliding door who also builds decks, and he commented on how well built the deck was. In conclusion, I would hire Scott again and am happy with our deck.

Everything went great. Scott and his crew are professional and hard-working. Scott has a good eye for detail and he did an excellent job overcoming some problems from the old deck design.

Right on budget, project started a little late and ran a little long, but still within reasonable amount of time. We had a problem with one of the light fixtures, but Scott followed up and fixed the problem. The deck and railing are very well done.

Scott's team was very professional, and they were on time each day and committed to the schedule and timeline that we discussed. They had great workmanship and attention to detail, with several difficult angles deigned into the deck, and they did a great job. We chose a composite decking material with Scott's recommendation and we went with the railing design that he suggested and we couldn't be happier with it. We found a few things that we wanted touched up a few days after the deck completion, and they were back that week to tend to the items. I would highly recommend them. 

Scott and his team did a fantastic job on our deck. It is beautifully finished, with excellent craftsmanship. He was great about working with our idea and offering suggestions to improve the look of the deck. Some suggestions added little to no cost, so we could tell he truly was invested in the final product. He had several workers in his crew, and they were all great guys too. They cleaned up the work area each night and the project stayed within the estimated time frame and cost. We would hire Big Bones construction again with no hesitation and would highly recommend them.

We had 3 companies bid on the job and Scott's bid was in the middle in terms of price.  Since I had only a rough image of what I wanted I felt that it was important that I work with someone who could give me a number of ideas and make recommendations so that I could understand my options. Scott proved to be the perfect choice! He helped us design the deck, a basic simple platform low to the ground with a few simple steps to the yard. The job took a little longer than originally planned, perhaps 8 days instead of 5, but it was easy to coordinate with them and they always showed up on time when expected, there were no surprises regarding the schedule. He and his crew did beautiful work with a great attention to detail - during construction there was a small issue that I wasn't happy with and Scott was responsive and fixed the issue immediately.  The final result is beautiful, I've already gotten many compliments on it!  Just after the deck was finished I decided that I wanted to extend it further and add a new door from the house onto the deck. I plan to have BigBones Construction return and do that work later in the summer. I highly recommend them as a good company to work with.

Scott was great! We had some old decks that had to be torn down and rebuilt. We feel that he really used top quality materials and the decks are sturdy and well built. Scott even customized a railing for us that we had seen on brochure. Our deck is awesome - we spend as many sunny hours on it as we can. He created a new deck at our front door of his own design and it changed the look of our house so much, the three decks make our house look clean and uniform.
Scott kept the job site clean and safe as we have kids and dogs running around!
I would not hesitate to recommend Scott and Big Bones Construction!

Scott was one of 4 contractors to give us a bid for our deck project.  He came in the lowest and was also the most responsive and came out to our house within a few days of us contacting him.  He gave us several options and had ideas and advice about materials etc. Scott was also the only contractor willing to reuse the glass that was already part of our existing deck, which we really appreciated.  We had to wait a couple of weeks for his schedule to open up and then he and his team got straight to work.  It was quite a big project and took over 3 weeks to complete.  They were always very polite and patient with my kids who wanted to watch the action.  At the end of the project we have a beautiful cedar deck across the entire front of our house.  It has turned out better than we imagined and we couldn't be more happy with the results.

The new deck looks awesome and the crew did a great job and kept everything tidy during the whole job which took about three weeks.  While getting the deck done, we asked about getting some French doors installed to go out onto the deck and those should be installed soon.  I would not hesitate to use Scott and his team again.

We are extremely pleased with our new deck.  Scott & Todd did a great job of taking our thoughts and putting them into reality.  I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

Scott was straight up, provided excellent long term advice as to the location of the new deck, and was professional throughout the entire process. His crew was outstanding, professional, and cleaned up after their work. 
We came home from work to find the railing installed, and realized it was not the one we thought we had picked out. We thought it was our mistake, but when Scott called to check on it, he said his vendor sent out he wrong one. There was never a question as to whether or not he would make it right, just that it would take a while. The new railing was later installed and it looks awesome.

Scott and Todd are the folks you want doing your deck. Their work is awesome. Everything is level, built right and to last. The deck they built will outlive me. You may find cheaper folks out there, but nowhere near the quality. Timely, responsive, willing to help design whatever you want. I could not be happier with the outcome every time I walk out. If you want it done right these are your guys!

I hit "submit" too soon.  I forgot to mention what a pleasure it was to work with Big Bones.  Scott and Todd  and the rest of the crew were a really nice bunch of guys and we were very comfortable having them at our home.  We'd definitely call them again!

They showed up on schedule and worked like crazy. The old decking was really solid (my father in law built it about 20 years ago and he was a bit of a perfectionist) and took a while to remove and the old cement walk, which was cracked through in two places, was much thicker than we thought it was and that took Scott most of one day to jack hammer out and remove. 

The new deck is exactly what I had hoped for and it is so solid that I have visions of the deck will still be standing long after the house is gone.  They used an engineered product in two wood tones and the finished deck is quite nice and I'm eager for summer so we can put out our potted plants and finish the look.

Scott was very thoughtful in the planning of our deck addition and offered recommendations for the design.  The workers were very nice and responsive to our questions.  The quality of the work was top notch and they paid attention to the details.  The work was done the right way, not just the fast way, which I appreciated.  They went to the extra trouble of fixing the existing structure, before beginning the new addition.
