Jeff has an outstanding crew! They were very hard working, nice, accommodating, and very professional! I am a Realtor and work with a large group of vendors with Aadam's Tree Service being one of them. I highly recommend them, Pat O'Grady

They were able to come out very quickly due to a previous job getting done quicker than expected. This was great for us because we were able to cut the tree down before all the leaves started to drop. They were very clean and professional. It took a little longer than expected due to where the tree was located so they had to come back the next day to finish. AAdams honored the original quote even though it took longer. We chose them based on neighborhood reviews so I wanted to do my part and share our experience. We have lots of trees and would definitely use them in the future.

It went very well. They are professionals at what they do, and did a thorough job and cleaned up any remnants of the tree and a thorough manner. I would use them again.

Jeff was very responsive. He arrived on time to provide an estimate. His crew arrived as arranged, was friendly, carefully worked around other landscaping, and did good work. The price for the work was very fair. I highly recommend this company.

I have found my new go to tree service! Jeff was very informative when he came by to give me a quote in November. I got my written quote (which was comparable to competitors), scheduled my service and they came in early December. I received a heads up call about 30 minutes before the scheduled time saying they were just wrapping up their other job and then they'd be right over. When Jeff arrived, we went over the work one more time, then to my surprise a small army of men turned up and made quick work of my trees. The work was done in just over 2 hours! When the lead knocked on my door to check in, as they were getting close to being done with the cutting, he consulted with me on the height of a tree that was getting cut down. And while I was outside, one of the guys hanging in the tree turned and said "thank you for your business." This is how to run a business. Everyone on the crew was professional and courteous and competent. When they were done, they blew the debris off my roof, patio and driveway. They left things cleaner than when they arrived. The quote I was given is what I paid. I will definitely use this company again and would recommend to anyone looking for a quality and reliable service. This company knows how to do it right!

I have been using AAdams Tree and Landscaping over the past 15 years. Jeff is an extraordinary professional. From the knowledgeable sales person, Dale, to the professional and hard working crew - they are outstanding. They go above and beyond and the communication is exceptional. They are always respectful of the properties they are doing work on. I will continue to hire for all my landscaping/tree removal/site preparation needs and I recommend this company without hesitation.

This is the second time I've used Aadams.

Overall:

This is a great company with an expert team, I would definitely hire them again and would recommend them for any job.  You might get a lower quote but I don't think you will find a better crew.

At the time of estimate the time frame was 2-3d and the price was quoted.  The rep had suggestions on some other trees we decided to leave alone for now.  He gave me an idea of what was going to take place and took care of all the paperwork and got the permits squared away on time and with no issues.

Fir Tree Thinning:

Midway through the main tree job, several other people arrived and thinned the two other large fir trees.  This looked like an independent job with a different crew but they shared the wood chipper.  The crew did a good job and cleaned up all the debris.

Main Tree:

The crew showed up on Monday and started unloading gear.  They advised clearing out more potted plants and deck furniture and moving vehicles and making even more room, so I did that.

This tree was a monster and in very close quarters in the backyard between a shed and a deck, probably more than 80' tall and the largest trunk over 3' across. The crew began by setting up equipment including the chipper and clearing out even more items from the area.  Then the climbers went up and started taking down the lower side branches and hauling them off to the chipper. Then the climbers went up and started taking the tree apart from the top down and breaking the fall of the limbs with ropes.  This was the most time consuming part and took several days, longer than they had expected.  When that part was done what remained was the main trunks stripped of the side and top branches.  The climber then started cutting the main trunks from the top down and dropping them into the yard while the rest of the crew hauled off the wood. They worked from there down and one main large trunk remained standing at about 15', they estimated 10,000 lbs or more.  This had to be dropped precisely into the space between the deck and the shed without much room for error.  The crew dropped it exactly where they wanted with no problems and proceeded to slice it into sections and haul it off.  The final day the stump was ground up and all that remained of the tree was a big pile of chips where the tree once stood.

What went well:

The company stood by their estimate even though the job took 5 days not 2-3

Safety was a clear priority for the crew - both for people and property

The crew took the time to alert the neighbors about what was going on.

The crew kept me up to date on what was happening and when things changed

The crew was professional, courteous and very skilled

Cleanup was thorough, all wood and branches were removed

  • What could have gone better:
  • Heads up on the amount of  landscape damage would have been helpful.  The damage is unavoidable with a tree that large but advance notice would have allowed relocating and saving some of the plants and possibly clearing or covering some or the borders and walkways to reduce the amount of landscape re-work needed.

What you should expect if you are doing something like this:

The chipper and chainsaws are extremely loud and sustained, pets will panic, neighbors should be advised ahead of time.

There will be a lot of trucks - chipper, trailer to haul wood and the road may be partially blocked.

Someone should be home in case something unexpected happens, a decision needs to be made or you need to move a vehicle

The crew may need access to other yards, again neighbors should be advised ahead of time.

Plan on significant landscape re-work afterward between the nearest access road and the tree and around the tree.  The crew needs to drive heavy equipment through to the backyard to remove the large pieces and grind the stump. A crane may be an option for some locations to reduce this depending on obstacles and distance from the road.

We got four bids for the job and Aadams' was by far the lowest. Dale came out the day we called, took a good look at the scope of the work and gave us a bid with no pressure to respond right away. Some of the other contractors wanted us to sign papers and even pay a down payment on the spot. Once we accepted Aadams' bid, Dale scheduled the work for the following day. Three workers came out and did a great job. They were careful around the plants we wanted to have protected, cleaned up the work areas very well and left the wood we wanted to keep in nice piles around the yard. They were very professional and were even flexible enough to change one of the trees we originally planned to cut down to another one, and to add a neighbor's tree to the job on the spot. All in all a positive experience!

Dale came for an estimate within a day, the workers started the following week. Based on the negative reviews I was concerned, but they provided an exceptional service and were reasonably priced.  Everyone was friendly, professional and did an excellent job.  They thoughtfully asked permission to obstruct our driveway for a few hours and to park a vehicle in front of our house overnight to complete the job the next morning.  They were punctual, efficient and protected our patio furniture and fences from falling debris.  They cleaned up the yard, patio and driveway so it looks better than it did before.  Everyone was genuinely interested in making us happy and when I requested a few more branches be removed there was no problem, they brought the crane back out to complete my request the same day.  The remaining trees look great and will no longer be a hazard to our home.  Really nice guys who I would be happy to work with anytime.

After the removal of the shavings from the stump grinding it was evident that a good portion of the stump was still in place. The correction again did not totally removed the stump. The three landscaping companies contacted to repair and reseed the lawn said that the work could not be started until the stump was grounded to at least 4" below the ground level. On April 7 I contacted by phone Dale Van Arsdall, former and original bidder, telling him what the companies mentioned above had said. He told me that he would put me on the schedule. When on April 21 I called again because there had been no action or communication by AAdams, again I was told that I would be put on the schedule. When on June 1 I called again because of the AAdams failure to communicate or to act, I was told by Dale that he would consult with the company's owner and call me back. On June 14, having not heard still from Dale, I left a message for the owner. Same story. As of today, June 19, no word from AAdams. Because of the failure on the part of AAdams to complete the work, the renovation of the lawn has not occurred yet. It will now have to wait until Fall. Six months went lost. The record shows that I have not been remiss as far as patience goes while the AAdams company has totally failed regarding honesty, credibility and basic courtesy". I have referred the company to the BBB. If this issue will not be resolved through Angies' resolution process, I will take the company to Court and ask for punitive damages. This boorish and arrogant behavior should not be allowed to continue.

I called Aadams for a second estimate, as they had done some work in our neighborhood. They came out the next day to look at what we wanted done and gave us an estimate that was about half of what we had gotten elsewhere. SInce it was just cutting down trees and not pruning them, we decided cheaper was probably better; the work was scheduled for less than a week later. Three workers arrived on time (actually a little early) and talked over the job with us. The were pleasant, professional, and responsive to our requests. We actually added the pine tree to the job that day, which they were able to do without checking with the office. They worked very hard to drop all of the wood where it wouldn't be in the way until we can get to it, avoided damaging a small cherry tree under the big fir even though we didn't pay extra to protect it, and hauled away the chips for free when we decided there were too many for us to keep. The cleaned up nicely afterwards, blowing the debris off the street. All in all, a positive experience!

Two men arrived before the 8:30 am start time. They methodically set up their work zone, started up their chipper, and went to work. The entire job, including a very nice clean-up, was completed by 11 am. They cleaned up all the debris under the tree as well as the sidewalk and street. They also called the wood crew so that the remaining pile of wood will be removed.

I had a great experience working with Aadams Tree Service. They arrived when they said that they were going too. They were very efficient. They got the job done very well and they cleaned up all of the debris. When they left, other than the top of the tree being gone, it did not look like they had even been out. Their price is definitely an A. They were very reasonable out of the three or four bids that we got.

They removed a tree that had fell down in the snow, and a large tree out of the front yard. They were very reasonably priced. They came when they said they would. They were clean. There was no debris left in our yard. I changed my mind in the middle of what they were doing, and they did what I wanted.

Jeff came immediately after my phone call to do an estimate. After giving estimate he was going to check when they could schedule the job and call me back. Instead of calling back to schedule, I received a call at 7:30 the next morning to say they were on their way. I think a very lazy crew was sent out. Jeff was not here. Suckers and deadwood remain, huge parts of the trees were removed (they cut off at the base), and they have not been shaped. They did not remove the scrub tree as it had too many trunks (all very small). When they refused to do this, I asked to please remove a couple dead branches as one will probably fall on the fence during the first windstorm. I was told no need to. A couple other small brances were removed which I could have easily done. I asked about dead wood not being removed from plums and there was aggravation expressed and a few twigs trimmed. I had an appt that morning, but since I had used them several times before, I felt okay with them proceeding without me being here. It was unfortunate that I was in a hurry to leave and wrote them a check before checking everything. Having worked with Jeff before I fully trusted him to make good if any problem. Instead, my phone calls and detailed messages have not been returned. Too late I realized I needed to stop payment on the check. They had cashed it immediately. In hindsight, lots of red flags.

I liked how prompt and friendly they were. They accidentally broke the glass on one of my doors. They took out an estimate and paid for the window. They did a really good job and the quality was fairly good. I thought they could have been a little more professional. I don?t think I would use them in the future.

Great until right at the end. They arrived early and finished quickly. However, when grinding the stumps, they did not use a shield, resulting in our patio door being shattered by flying rocks. Luckily, it is double pane, so we don't have plywood up. The grinder operator then left very quickly without cleaning up. The good news is that their insurance company sent us a check fairly promptly after I forwarded 2 estimates. I would consider using them again. I found Jeff very professional and easy to work with.

They did the work for a very reasonable price. They the removed the tree from a challenging location very accurately without any collateral damage. I would recommend them and use them again.
