EARHART SPRINKLER SYSTEMS, INC.

Mid June I called to make an appointment for Earhart to check a leaking sprinkler. He said he would come by the next week. After a week I called again and they came on Thursday June 26 late in the day after finishing a "big job" and just thought they would stop by...two trucks and four or five guys to check one sprinkler head which was leaking. They took their shovels to the sprinkler and were going to dig it up until I told them to stop. I would explain the problem and what I wanted them to do, which was just turn the leaking sprinkler off and leave all the others on. Dave Earhart said yes he could do this. They turned the main water off, turned the small dial off in the system for the leaking sprinkler, turned the main water on to check the leak, turned that sprinkler off on the Rainbird dial. This took 28 minutes. I checked the time they arrived and when they finished. The remainder of the 45 minutes he charged me for, they were fixing the garden hose which they broke when they drove over it with their trucks. He didn't give me an invoice that day but mailed one later. He charged $160.75 +12.86 tax for 28 minutes. I felt this was way out of line and called to ask him to explain the charges to me. He said "I can charge whatever I want, things cost a lot, I pay Dale $35.00 and hour and two other guys $8.00 and hour +$3.00 a minute for the time I am there and I was there forty five minutes." I asked him to repeat the charges and this time he said he charged me $81.00 to "show up" because I need to pay for his cell phone charges!? He hung up the telephone. On July 7, I called again and asked him to mail a detailed invoice for the charges and his reply was "you have one in your hand, I can charge whatever I want", and hung up again. July 7, I faxed a letter to him requesting a detailed invoice for the charges and have not heard from him. I tried to figure out his charges by what he told me on the phone but it is impossible to come to the amount he charged. I want him to tell me exactly who and what I am paying for.
