The process of hiring HC was started early May of this year. (The work was performed yesterday, Sep 23, 2015, by my choice.) For several reasons, I find housework nasty!
Kevin Reynolds came to my apartment (his wife, Grace, stayed in their vehicle) to give me a quote for initial cleaning and for a weekly continuation. I have no idea what the same services from others would be, but I felt it was a fair price.
However, when I looked into my budget (I am on Social Security Disability), I thought that it wouldn't work out for me. So I cancelled. Kevin was extremely graceful (hmmm, he was "graceful" and his wife's name is "Grace"; might there be some correlation?). Anyway, Kevin was extremely graceful about the cancellation.
Since May, I have had a couple of surgeries, not really serious, that put a crimp on whatever housework I was doing. The apartment got worse!
It got to the point that I was finding it hard to get around. I contacted Kevin to "renew" the proposed job.
The original proposal had the two main elements--initial cleaning and weekly cleaning--written in it, with the cost of each. The initial cleaning element had a couple of parts to it. I knew that the apartment was probably worse than before, so I presented to Kevin that the initial cleaning job go for the same price, but we would cancel one of the parts to the original proposal. He agreed, and said that he could have a team out in two days. We scheduled the five-hour appointment.
Now, I am not in the cleaning business. So my estimate of the condition of my apartment was wrong. The apartment was worse, much worse, than when Kevin walked through and estimated what it would cost.
My apartment has five defined areas to it: Bedroom, Bathroom/Utility room, Kitchen, Dining room, Living room. The bedroom and living room take up half of the apartment, and the three other areas take up the other half. In the initial proposal, HC would be cleaning only four of the areas...not the bedroom. And in that same initial proposal in early May, was a sixth area, which I had dropped for what would be done yesterday.
Unfortunately, the HC ladies could only complete three of the four areas...they ran out of time to do the living room. However, what they did for the dining room, kitchen, bathroom/utility room was stellar!
As others have expressed, the final result was absolutely marvelous. The fixtures and appliances were as clean (could they even be cleaner than?) as showroom fixtures and appliances...outside and inside. I am *completely* satisfied with the job, and I may set up a regularly scheduled appointment.
