JNS PAINTING

Once they finally showed up to get our house started, Jim and Sherri showed up on time and worked cleanly. They cleaned up all their supplies at the end of each work day, and respected our property. They were trustworthy, kind, and a pleasure to chat with. However, their attention to detail and pride of workmanship is sorely lacking. We have an older home that was in need of some serious prep-work prior to being painted. The old paint was chipping and peeling and generally in pretty bad shape. The first day, they scraped a bit, did no power-washing, and squirted about 20 tubes of caulk into the grooves of our siding on the body of the house they hadn t began on the trim at all yet. After the first day of prep-work was complete, I had a look around and figured it was a good start but saw a lot more work to be done. I certainly didn't envy them, and the work they needed to do. You can imagine my surprise when I came home from work the next day to find most of the body of my house painted!!! The chipping paint had been sprayed over with a satin (pretty shiny) finish and looked awful!! They had left for the day, and I just stood in the front yard and cried. I caught up with them in the morning and we talked about it; Jim swore he would fix it and I would be happy with it when they were done. As the days went on, the quality of work didn't change and I became more and more unhappy with how things were turning out. My husband and I talked about it with Jim and Sherri, and we all decided to go our separate ways and just cut our losses. Now we are stuck having to hire another painter to repaint our house in a flat finish (what should have been used in the first place), finish up what was started, and prep and paint all the trim-work. There is nothing that can be done about the fact that JNS sprayed new paint over the chipping paint - it is just going to look that way forever unless we re-side the whole house. Basically, we feel they misrepresented the level of work they were capable of and truly ruined our house. We can get it repainted, but it is always going to look like a substandard job because of the work JNS Painting has done. They are nice people, but exterior painting is not their strong point if there is any prep-work needed. I'm sure they could do fine painting new construction or newer siding, but anything that has seen more than a few years of Spokane weather is out of their realm of ability.
