He diagnosed my A/C, found a bad capacitor, replaced it, and tested the amperage, and the unit was up & running within 35 minutes!
The capacitor cost about $150 and the service visit was $85, but I was able to use an Angie's List $20 discount. All in all, not unreasonable.
First Service:
The first was to fix a squealing furnace. Previously I had been informed by a big name HVAC company in our area that the problem couldn't be fixed because the the furnace was 20 years old and it would need be replaced. Airco stopped by and informed me that I just needed a new blower motor and it would only cost $350. I was also able to pay over the phone with Rick emailing me my receipt. I appreciate modern companies that have figured out how to use the internet.
Second Service:
After several days of 100 degree weather and no end in sight my wife received a call from our renters to inform us that the AC unit was blowing hot air. I was on my way to work when she called, we both feared the worst. The AC unit are about 20 years old and I figured I would be replacing it. I called my goto HVAC service Airco Mechanical, Rick answered and he remembered me from before. I told him the problem and he assured me he would get to the house by the end of day. As promised Rick made it to the house and assessed the problem. Rick informed me that the fan blade may be melded to the motor and that he needed to get it off to assess the damage. He applied some HVAC tricks of the trade and let it sit over night. In the morning he was able to remove the fan (thankfully, apparently it was a unique blade shape and would have been tough to track down). Rick replaced the motor, cleaned the coil and had AC restored to house before my tenant could wake up to meet him in the morning. Once finished Rick gave me a call and informed me of the services performed and was able to take my payment over the phone.
Hands down my experience with Airco Heating and Mechanical has been the best I have ever had with an HVAC company. They will be getting my business when it is time to replace the oil furnace in my main residence and for any repairs or maintenance I need in the future.
If you are continually trying to find an HVAC company you feel you can trust and feel comfortable with I suggest you give Airco a try.
