I got a beautiful cedar deck with hog wire railings. The work was done quickly and professionally, the materials are beautiful, and the guys were great to work with.

The quality of the work is excellent and was passed by the Kitsap County inspectors with no problems.

We had a great experience with Kelly and his team. Kelly came on the recommendation of a friend whom Kelly did work for. He was very happy with the way his deck turned out so we decided to have Kelly come out and bid our deck. Agreed upon pricing for labor did not change, cost of materials, with the price of wood skyrocketing, went up, but it is what it is. His team showed up on time everyday they said they would be there. Any issues were communicated with us. Once work was completed we performed a walk-thru to make sure what we wanted was done. I cant wait to hire them for our next project. Our Fence. Thanks Kelly! Kelly was recommended to us from another vendor working on our house. We worked with Kelly to create a new deck design and to complete the remodel of our existing Trex decks. Kelly was professional, courteous, and most helpful. His team did an excellent job and we're having him complete additional projects for us. We can recommend Kelly without any hesitation or reservation - he is simply the best.

Kelly Fandel is the only contractor I would trust to make a long lasting and beautiful deck in the Puget Sound area. Pictures of his work speak for themselves and the man stands behind his work. His crew is experienced and it shows. His pricing is reasonable for the level of excellence.

I signed up for an account just so I could leave a strong recommendation for FCI (a friend with an account originally sent me the link to this page). We needed to have our (~700 sq ft) deck replaced. Kelly was quick to meet with and give us an estimate along with several very helpful suggestions on material and pattern. Kelly and his crew were friendly and incredibly polite to both my wife and myself throughout the course of the project. They arrived early and worked hard. They finished promptly and the result was nothing short of amazing. We used Ipe decking and had a hot tub insert built into one corner. The pattern was herringbone inside of a picture frame, with Rail FX railing on one half and a bench built around the borders on the other (tub) half. We went into the project with a general idea of what we wanted, but our deck is gorgeous and we owe it all to the guidance and precision of these professionals. We couldn’t be happier. The project was completed well ahead of initial estimate, and came in under budget. FCI made every effort to minimize waste and it showed. If you want the kind of deck that makes you feel like you made good life decisions, call these guys (and listen to their recommendations).

We're very happy with the result. It was a somewhat complicated project with 3 different levels and a framed hexagon shaped section. Kelly and his assistants worked with us throughout to ensure that our vision was being accomplished. Their attention to detail and workmanship is excellent. The project took longer than anticipated (went over the holidays), but because it was winter, we didn't need the deck, anyway. (Don't count on precise timing for a project like this, as there are always unforeseen details that take longer.) Cost of materials was higher than estimated, but the overall price was still very competitive, based on other quotes we got.

Project was started on time and a very professional job done. Excellent attention to detail. Chris, Kelly's main man, showed up promptly every morning and did a great job. We decided on Oregon Incense Cedar for the deck and benches. Went with an aluminium railing with stainless cabling in one area so my wife has good visibility through it for birding around her feeders. Ended up costing more than we anticipated partly due to our decisions to have the decking prestained and substituting the aluminium/stainless railing for the cedar railing. Overall we are very happy with the project.

Kelly responded to our email inquiry via AL quickly and met us at our home to assess the situation. He was upfront about what needed to be done (deck railing) and what could be done now or at an additional time (replacing the trex base of our deck because it was recalled and would need to be replaced at some point in the future anyways). we opted to do it all at once. Kelly wasn’t able to get to the project for a couple of months, but we were okay with that as we were not in a rush. He put plywood up in the meantime so that our deck would no longer be a safety hazard. Once he and his crew began their work, they showed up on time, kept the area neat, cleaned up daily, and finished the project quicker than anticipated. The end product looks great. My 6 year old son was quite interested in the work and Kelly gave him some “responsibility” of keeping the area safe (little brother out) during construction. My son suggested he get “caution tape” and what do you know, Kelly brought caution tape the next day. It was little touches like that, in addition to the excellent work, that would lead us to recommend Kelly to all anyone who needs deck or carpentry work. Thank you Kelly and team!

We met Kelly Fandel at the 2018 Kitsap Counth Home and Garden Fair and were impressed by the RX Rail system he had on display. He made an appointment with us and came to our house to discuss a possible project. We decided on the spot to get a proposal from him and pursue a contract. We had a variety of questions and he was easy to contact and gave us all the information we needed. We decided to break up the project into two phases, so that he could accomodate planned summer travel we had already committed to. Phase One was completed in June and the final phase was completed in early August, 2018. We had traditional wooden rails with patterned boards, installed when the house was built in 1991. The house is the water on Yukon Harbor near Port Orchard and the moist setting had taken its toll on the woodwork. So we had considerable safety concerns with the integrity of both the 2x4 posts and the cedar boards. We were attracted to the RX rail system, with white aluminum posts, stainless steel wires and tropical wood handrails. Perhaps the best feature for us was the way the wire systen opens up the views of Yukon Harbor, Blake Island, and the Cascades beyond Seattle. The demolition of the old and the installation of the new system proceeded without a hitch. Kelly, Chris, and Steve problem solved continuously, often involving us. They were also eager to check with us on our preferences and adjust the outcome to fit. We are thrilled with the result. We love the new views, as well as the modernizing effet the railings have had on the appearance of the house. The construction of the RX system is solid and transmits a feeling of both safety and quality. Kelly Fandel and Fandel Construction are true professionals. First, Kelly sources really excellent wood for his deck projects. As his crew lays out the deck, they pay attention to the grain and features so the best of the best is laid where it will be seen. Kelly thinks projects through and will have creative solutions for problems you did not even know to think about. This is the second deck Fandel Construction built for us, the first one was fifteen years ago; a cedar deck with a heavy trellis for a hot tub off the master suite and it still looks great. This time we replaced our main deck. We went with Ipe wood (at Kelly's recommendation) for our main deck and it looks fabulous. Solid build quality, square joints, even gaps. One look at the finished project and you know it was built by a real professional. He did a nice job on our new stairs too and recommended treated cedar for cost and durability. Make sure you have an understanding about aesthetic features as they build to code and may not duplicate your original deck, but they make it right after you have an understanding. If we could give them an A+ recommendation, we would. Fandel Construction does first rate work at reasonable prices, you get what you pay for and then some.

Kelly took the project on, even though it was small. After meeting with us, he presented a design for the deck that was efficient and attractive. We chose Iron Woods IPE decking for is quality and environmental accountability, which increased the price but we are very happy with the choice. Kelly responded promptly to phone calls and emails throughout the entire process, from initial contact to follow-up after construction was done. He helped us through the permitting process, which was particularly easy as he knew the City permitting staff personally. The project was begun in a timely fashion and Kelly completed it exactly on schedule. And the deck is beautiful. Kelly is friendly, professional, experienced, and dependable. You won't go wrong hiring him for your job.

Fandel Construction has been a great company to work with. There were no surprises; the contract was exactly “on target” and we knew what to expect. Kelly stayed in touch regarding scheduling and was always “on top” of deliveries. He was a pleasure to do business with Fandel Construction. Couldn’t recommend them more highly!

Kelly Fandel met us at our home to discuss what we wanted as the end product of two decks, one in the front and one in the back. He took the time to show us different options and suggested the final design which we signed off on. He explained the process and timing to get the decks done. Kelly kept us up to date on the whole process. From ordering materials to our installation date, and the finishing date. When a supplier delayed delivery, Kelly kept us advised and followed through to get the order in as soon as possible. When the installation started he finished on time. Took care to provide us with a professional product. When finished he took the time to explain best ways to protect deck finish and where to get correct stains to do the job right.

Great. I am a lawyer and CPA having worked for a big Seattle law firm, major corporations and the Port of Seattle. We live in very eastern part of Tacoma and just above Puyallup with outstanding views of Rainier and the Cascades. Our residence is on a significant rise with a wood front porch and two story side decking. Kelly and staff replaced the home's original cedar porch and side decking with an IPE decks and Hansen Architectural Systems Cable Railing. See attached photos of project about 6 months after completion. I felt I could not have this project done by a general contractor. Kelly is thoroughly professional and expertised in all aspects of his work including specifically with IPE decking and Cable Railing. I couldn't be happier. Kelly's workmanship has enhanced the value of this residential property. Kelly and staff were responsive and respectful of our wishes and a pleasure to work with.

Work went exceptionally well and according to plan. Kelly, Chris and crew always showed up on time, did craftsman quality work, paid attention to the little details and brought problems (some rot with support beams, fascia and trim) to our attention quickly and provided options for remedy and additional cost. Project was completed in a timely manner and cost overruns (minor) were well-contained. We are very, very pleased with the quality of both the work and the daily interactions. I would most definitely recommend Fandel Construction for decking work and would use them again without hesitation.

FANTASTIC & impressive!!! Kelly & Chris were a tremendous pleasure to work with. I feel very lucky to have found & worked with them. Professional, responsive, punctual, fair price and superior craftsmanship. If only all contracted home projects & people were as easy to work with as Kelly was! I felt Kelly really had my best interest in mind. In the planning process he offered options/suggestions (things that I would not have known to consider - overall deck related but also the hot tub aspects). Once the project began - Kelly was great in communicating updates & timing.....and while at my home Kelly & Chris were nothing but friendly, respectful to myself and of my home, property & dogs! Fandel Construction did an amazing job completing two upper decks at our house! We were originally considering replacing our existing cedar decking with composite decking, but after talking to Kelly Fandel we also considered using hardwood decking. After meeting with several contractors about the two materials we decided to go with Fandel Construction and the hardwood decking (IPE). Kelly's prices for the hardwood decking were very competitive with other contractor's costs for composite decking and after meeting with Kelly he seemed like the right person for the job. He evaluated the existing infrastructure and was very knowledgable of the little things to be done to increase the structural integrity and longevity of the decks. He was also very responsive in getting the project done, and started on the decks within a week of getting a signed contract. We ended up using IPE decking with aluminum railings and glass inserts. Both Kelly and Chris (the carpenter) did a beautiful job installing the decking. They used a very nice pattern in installing the decking, which added a lot of a character to the decks, especially with the vibrant colors and textures of the IPE decking. Kelly explained that if you are willing to let the IPE decking fade to a silver patina, the hardwood decking needs very little maintenance. I was uncertain with what to do with the existing railings and Kelly recommended a fascia mounted aluminum railing with glass inserts, which added a little more area to the decks, but more importantly gave the decks a very nice finished look and a slightly lower profile. Both Kelly and Chris were very responsive to any questions or concerns during the installation and always communicated their schedule for completing the decks. I plan on using Fandel Construction again early next year to replace a lower deck at the house.

They've got great quality and great value. They are very easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend a family member or a friend to hire them. I thought they were very fair price. They are very easy to deal with. I thought it was a great value for the price. They were very responsive. I'm going to hire them again.

Deck looks amazing!  Kelly was hands-on and always kept the lines of communication open.  He kept us informed and asked us questions and searched out our opinions as construction was in progress.  We went with hardwood as our deck is cantilevered over bulkhead on Hood Canal.  The hardwood is pretty much maintenance free, which is great.  No staining.

We had a wire rail system installed per Kelly's suggestion and when you are on the deck its as if there is no rail at all, looking out over the water. 

Absolutely love the work that was done and highly recommend working with Kelly.  He knows his stuff. 

The deck is beautiful and his design was perfect for the space and opened up our view to a comfortable stilling area in the middle of the deck.  I was thinking we needed a huge deck and Kelly was able to cut down the size of the deck through a creative design which took advantage of the space and angles.  We had a couple of boards and areas that needed to be fixed after his crew left and Kelly came right back and took care of it!. I recommend him and will use him again for another job!
