I hired Wire Nutz twice. The first project was for a complete knob and tube replacement in the attic. I got 3 bids for this job and Wire Nutz was by far the most affordable. I think a few of their electricians were out sick, so that ended up delaying my project by a week. That meant that I had to delay other contractor's work, but it worked out in the end. I appreciate that they were able to minimize damage to my plastered walls. I was happy with their work and decided to hire them again a year later to do the service panel replacement and basement re-wiring. Since this was a complicated project, I must have gone back and forth on the details of the bid like 10 times with the owner, Matt. He was patient and helpful with me. The city inspector was happy with their work and so was I.

WireNutz was hired by American Home Shield to check a problem with a bathroom exhaust fan at my home. The work performed itself was satisfactory, however, I had concerns regarding what led to the work being done in the first place (replacement of the fan). After playing phone tag with the owner, Matt, he and I were able to connect and I shared my concerns. Throughout the conversation Matt was professional; he took the time to listen to my concerns. After sharing our perspective with each other, it was clear to me that Matt was interested in knowing what he could do to retain my business and earn my future business. We were able to come to a mutually acceptable agreement in the same conversation. Because Matt took the time to personally contact me and work through my concerns, I can confidently and firmly recommend Wire Nutz to anyone considering residential electrical work. Because I rated punctuality less than an "A", I'll provide an explanation of that rating here. Originally, AHS sent the work order to WireNutz in mid-December (right about the time of the heavy snowfall in the region). It took another couple of phone calls (made in late December and early January) before WireNutz was able to locate the work order (their rep said they never received the original work order in mid-December). However, once they located the work order, they had someone out to check out the problem in just a couple of days, which I find satisfactory. As a footnote, I STRONGLY CAUTION ANYone against entering into a "home warranty" contract with AHS. After talking with Matt, it seems much of the issue rests with AHS.

The work took one full day. The work they did, didn't pass inspection. They came back out and still didn't correct some of the issues. The things that didn't pass were basic such as not nailing down wires.

The price was about the same as everyone else.

I had a lot of work done with them. The first time they came out they sent somebody whose very new to fixing electricity and wasn't able to figure out what happened They had to send someone else to diagnose it. They were really nice about it. They're responsive. They really followed up with more professional people. They were fine.

Started out OK. Electrician came out and made estimate. Was shown what I needed/wanted. I wanted the new meter in the same location as the old one. I was not told that that would result in an ugly a** conduit running around my garage and the front of my home. Had I known that little detail I would have made a better choice. When they ran the wire from the new main box to the new sub panel, they ran it along the rafters in my garage, not even in conduit. It's code, but again, ugly (and in the way of my overhead storage. They could have at least run it along a wall to keep it out of the way. As for the hot tub, I told them to place the breaker in a particular place on my patio where it would be under a cover and protected from the rain. They refused and placed the box in an exposed area of the wall not on the patio nor under a cover. "It was easier". And this was all after they threatened to put a lien on my home for a job which we had agreed would be paid on the spot the day of the work. Claimed that the State of Oregon will not allow them to work unless they filed these papers. B.S. The State requires that they file these papers if they intend to lien the property. My recommendation to them: Be upfront about the fact that you don't trust your customers and as such, maybe we shouldn't trust you. And do the work that is requested of you or make it clear that you do not intend to follow the instructions of the property owner. Would I use these people again? Probably not. The price was fair, but the service left a lot to be desired.

Mr. Lasch came out to our house, looked over the old electrical panel, answered our questions, & said he would email us a bid, which he did. I had one key question which had to do with whether the prices for the dedicated new circuits in section 2 were included in section 1, which discussed the actual panel replacement. I like to make clear even issues that seem obvious, so that there are no lingering questions later. Mr. Lasch's reply was & I quote: Section one is for a panel change which will allow for the new circuits from section 2 to be installed." That was not a direct answer to my question. It seemed to me to parse words, but I misinterpreted this to mean that the $1800 price for section 1 (replacement of panel) did in fact include the additional charges for the new circuits in section 2. I sent back the bid to Wire Nutz, signed, with the following inserted into the paper: "We agree to section 1 to include 1st 3 jobs in section 2." I emailed Mr. Lasch & said that he should note the edits that I had made to the bid. He never got back to me or addressed the bid price or the changes that i had made to it. Our correspondence from that point on concerned scheduling. I mistakenly assumed his silence on the changes I made to the bid contract meant that he had agreed to them. The electrical panel was replaced, but no new dedicated circuits were installed. I again incorrectly assumed that Wire Nutz would adjust the final price. When they did not, I felt that I had been misled. There is 1 additional point that added insult to injury & that was on the day the tech was actually replacing the electrical panel, I received a certified letter from a business service which was serving us notice of a potential Lien on our property for non-payment of services. Their notice stated that a contractor is required by OR law to provide this notice to "inform us about construction lien laws." I have had 4 major contractor services in the last year, & Wire Nut Electrical is the 1st one to send me this type of notice. By avoiding directly answer my question, not responding to my changing the bid contract, and going ahead with the work as if they had agreed to these changes, I feel that Wire Nutz Electrical failed to be honest & up front with my wife & I. They may be legally correct in their actions, but to me there is an air of deception & greed to their actions. If Mr. Lasch had directly & honestly answered my question, he ran the risk that we might have backed out of his bid, & went elsewhere. So he remained silent, took my money, but threatened to sue me If I didn't pay the bill. Let me make it clear that my dispute with Wire Nutz is not over the technical quality of their work, but their business ethics. If Mr. Lasch's opinion is that I should have read the contract, & that he bears no responsibility for, at the very least, is a huge miscommunication, I think he should look in the mirror.

Initial install seemed fine. However, when the inspector came out to inspect electrical box he found out they  put the wrong size house breaker on (it was too large and wouldn't have tripped if the wires were overloaded) and it failed inspection. Had many back and forth between us, Matt (Wirenutz), and the electrical inspector. Not all of the issues were caused by Wirenutz (third inspector not expert with electrical), but if they'd installed it correctly the first time we could have passed inspection instead of it taking over a month to pass inspection after work was "completed" as we were trying to move out of our home. It was just a major fiasco all around.
Our other issue was communication. Wirenutz made the inspection appointment and did not tell us to check the website (at 8am) to find out when they were coming. Instead told us they would call, which they hadn't done in 6 months. That information is indicated on the inspection website, fliers they leave on the door, and on the recorded message at number Wirenutz had to call to make the appointment (I ended up setting up our last two re-inspections myself). Took time off of work and then had to reschedule. Also when things started going poorly with the inspectors- our calls stopped being answered. Instead of direct communication we'd get an email reply, or text, hours later. Stressful when you are working within a deadline for the buyers.
While our issues were eventually resolved (painstakingly), I absolutely would not use this company again. In all our *years* of working with professionals in remodeling and rebuilding our retro 1978 home (which we just sold) this was hands down worst experience that we've ever had with any company.

I can say this about this outfit, and that is they are on their and quot;Aand quot; game 100% every time! I have called them for their services in the past, and each time they come to my place they trouble shoot the problem, find a solution, and then fix it right their on the spot. This outfit does not believe in messing around and wasting your time. Their work has been nothing but the best and the cost, I am not complaining, Reasonable is the only word I can come up with. I would call on this outfit anytime, 24-7-365!!
Thanks Wire Nutz!

Evan came out to do the work. He was modestly late, but in all other respects did an excellent job. He was thorough, neat, and highly professional. He himself noted that some of the prior work exhibited and quot;poor workmanshipand quot;. In the attic he replaced the plastic box with the correct metal box that I had purchased. He wired in the conduit from the light tube kit and left everything neatly wired. He consulted with me as to where to put the box and we functioned more or less as a team.
In the stairwell he installed the switches as requested and made sure everything worked the way it was supposed to. I was quite satisfied with his work.
Finally, I asked him to look at the installation of the switches on the wall, which included the wall outlet, automatic fan control, and light switch. I noted how poorly the resulting installation looked. He agreed and this is where he made the comment about poor workmanship. He then worked very diligently and spent quite a bit of time just to correct the and quot;lookand quot; so that the final result looked professional and indicated good quality.
Overall, if Evan represents the usual quality of work from Wire Nutz, they are a good company, do professional work, and should be hired. If the employee who came out the first time (July of 2012) is representative of the company, I wouldn't hire them again. So what do you do with a Jekyll/Hyde kind of record? I'd ask for Evan if I was going to hire them.

The first part of the review covers work done by Wire Nutz on July 11, 2012 as originally contracted. The work was mostly done, but the workmanship was poor. The technician, who shall be nameless, worked very rapidly and was quite sloppy. He did not clean up, did a poor job of cutting holes in the wall when he had to install a new switchbox, and didn't finish all the work he was contracted to do. The technician was very punctual and arrived on time. He installed two light kits in the solar tubes, but in doing so he misaligned the rubber seals that held in the diffuser on the solar light tubes so that I had to go back after he left and re-insert those seals. He also left debris behind which I had to clean up. He wired both the light kits to metal electrical boxes in the attic and everything worked fine. However, for the third solar tube, he removed the existing electrical box and then inexplicably replaced it with a plastic box totally unsuitable for the future wiring of the light tube kit. That meant I had to go out at a future time and purchase another metal box. In the bathroom he installed the ceiling exhaust fan but did not squarely align it parallel to the room's walls. It looked sloppy. The wiring is fine and the fan works but I had to play with the installation to get it to look more professionally done. He installed a box in the bathroom to hold the fan switch, new solar light tube light switch, and existing wall outlet. Again, the installation was done, it works, and it looked like crap. Also, he left debris behind on the bathroom floor. I had to clean up and fiddle around with the switch plate to try and get it to look better. He connected the solar tube light kit to a switch in the living room and changed the plug to be a hot plug as requested. No problems. Finally, the job to correct the lighting in the switches in the stairwell was simply omitted. He never did anything there. As for the range hood, he didn't have time to complete it on July 11th and I was so disappointed with the quality of his work so far that I called the contractor and told them I did not want this electrician back in my house. Overall, everything was wired correctly (except the stairwell light switches that the electrician failed to do), but the resulting installations did not look like they were professionally done. If he were the only electrician working for the company I would not employ them again. For the work done on July 11th, I would have given Wire Nutz a grade of C at best. This part of the review covers corrective work done by Wire Nutz on March 5, 2013. Evan came out to do the work. He was modestly late, but in all other respects did an excellent job.
