Ken Johns was a disaster as a contractor, builder, business person and person of integrity, character and skill. Further he presents as a licensed contractor, which is a lie. Ken Johns is a dishonest, disreputable person who should not be allowed to build a bird house. Do not trust this man or his skills. After 3 months, my home is a disaster area and I have lost thousands of dollars which I hope to reclaim through legal channels. After 3 months of dealing with no-shows, unaccounted for delays, living without a wall in my home due to waiting for a French door and no access from my side doors on either unit, I have hired a new contractor to complete the job. The new builder must remove all but the framing for the rear porch and the fence posts and start over.
Description of Work: On 5/31/06 I signed bid with Ken Johns, Total Home Services for 6' cedar fencing around my duplex lot, demolition of 2 concrete side porches to be replaced by new cedar porches, deck and porch for south unit and French doors onto back deck. I paid 1/2 cash. His workers demolished 8' of sidewalk at my front entrance. Ken Johns said he would replace my sidewalk at no cost. Never happened. I have two demolished side concrete porches with framing, one back porch framed in, one deck framed in and perimeter fence posts. The south unit side porch framing fell apart, the deck framing wood split and was not level. He has not returned to job since 7/20/06 and $4000 are unaccounted for. He left his tools on my property. I moved the tools to my basement, changed my locks. On 8/9/06 my home was burglarized and Ken Johns tools stolen. I filed a police report. An 8/10/06 email from Ken Johns said: He "sent someone to my home to remove his tools so that they would not take up space."
