I can not recommend this guy enough if you're serious about wanting your yard to look the best it can look. He will listen to your preferences and suggest things that fit into an aesthetic that you may be moving toward. Our yard is moving in a sub tropical direction out front . . . and we have a bit of an Asian flair going on out back . . . the plants that he suggested will help to push those themes. We pulled together a list of the suggested plants many of which I was able to get through him right away. The balance of our agreed upon list, I'll order through him in the spring. If you want to check Rob out, go to KATU and click on AM Northwest. Look for ' Rob the Plant Guy" and you'll be able to see some of his past episodes. I spent $125 on the consultation which lasted 2 + hours and the rest I spent on plants.
Description of Work: I met Rob the Plant Guy @ the Vancouver Farmers Market where he was selling lovely and unusual species of perennial plants for very reasonable prices. We immediately connected ! Rob is a plant and garden design expert . This became readily apparent. I happily discovered through our conversation that Rob( for a very reasonable fee) will come out and spend a couple of hours walking through your garden with a note pad on which he scribbles suggestions as to how your design, soil, plants or plantings can be improved. This is exactly what I needed. I particularly wanted advice on how to group various plants to achieve interesting vistas all seasons of the year. Which plants to combine for our particular zone, where to get them, where they'd be most happy in our particular yard, and how to care for them to maximize their growth and over all health. This is exactly what I got. I now have a list of plants which I'll be adding to the landscape over the next year. I also have a list of 'to do's' for early spring. He suggested we move a number of plants and shrubs to improve visibility from our deck. Rob Mills is a plant encyclopedia ! I will have him visit our yard yearly with his little pad and pen.
