So I searched the internet for "Samsung Repair"and up came Mr. Appliance. I called and specifically asked them if they worked on Samsung, and the girl on the phone said yes.
I schedule the appointment and the service tech arrived as scheduled. I left him to his work and went to the next room. After a few moments he got on his phone and was asking somebody if they'd ever worked on Samsung dishwashers. The answer was apparently "no". In listening to the conversation it was obvious that the tech didn't know what was wrong with it and neither did the guy on the other end of the phone. The conversation ended with the tech saying, "Yeah, it's like that. Thanks anyway"
After a long pause I walked into the room and he confidently say's, "I've got bad news. It needs a new brain." I asked how he knew that, and he said it was because it was draining ok, and didn't have water in it. So I ask, "what's the blinking light mean?" He admitted that he didn't know. My owners manual had several blinking light codes in the troubleshooting guide, but did not include this blinking light, which was why I wanted somebody who works on Samsung.
He presented me with a bill of $87 and an estimate to install a new brain.....around $500....the cost of the dishwasher! So I said, "You don't really know what's wrong so your bid is high enough to basically cover anything, right?" He said he was "pretty sure" that it was the brain. Again, I asked what the code for the blinking light meant. He admitted he didn't know "that exact code."
I told him I was not happy to pay the service call fee when he apparently didn't know the exact problem, and was not really an authorized Samsung tech. He said he'd have his boss call me and maybe work something out. The boss never called.
I held out on giving this review, because my check didn't clear. I thought maybe they'd decided not to deposit it, in which case I was going to let it go. But after a month the check finally cleared, and here is my review.
They came out and told me my pump was bad and I needed a new one. It
had to be ordered and I had to wait several days before they could
return and put in the pump. The repairman left water all over my floor
and under the washer. He smelled bad and left my laundry room smelling
like body odor. Immediately after he left I put a load of laundry in
the washer and it wouldn't start. I called the repairman, he told me to
turn it off, and on and try again. I did so and the washer started,
but when it got to the spin cycle it didn't spin or drain. I called
again and was told I would have to make an appointment for the following
week. When the same repairman came the following week, he now said he
didn't know what was wrong, he didn't know what the error code that was
showing meant. He said I would need to look it up on the internet. He
said after I did that if I wanted to call and tell them what it said
they could come out and fix it. I asked - what about the pump I just
had replaced that I obviously didn't need? He said he could take it out
and refund me. I asked if he really had kept my old pump for a week;
he admitted he hadn't. I asked what he was going to replace the new
pump with? He said, well, I'm really not going to replace it, I guess
if you get the new issue fixed with us you will just get the new pump
for free. I pointed out that the "new" issue was really the issue I had
originally called about and that I didn't think I would be giving any
more business to Mr. Appliance.
My husband googled the error
code and saw within literally seconds that it was for a defective latch
mechanism. I called our usual go-to repair service (Rieglemann's) and
they ordered the part and within two days they had installed it.
Problem solved.
I called again today to request my refund from
Mr. Appliance, but "the person I need to speak to is not in the
office." Skip the problems and call someone reliable, knowledgeable and
ethical.
"We always strive to bring good, reliable and honest service to each of our customers and regret that we were not able to please this member with our service. We also respectfully disagree with some of the claims she has made in her review."
"The first time out was August 2011 where we replaced a bad belt on the dryer. The second time out was April 2012 when our technician cleaned, lubed and fixed a sticky bearing for the noise complaint. The member's reference to a check over $100 was for a repair we made on her stove during the same appointment as the dryer repair (April 2012)."
"Thank you for your nice report! We appreciate your patience so we could finally "catch it in the act" of not running correctly and get your refrigerator fixed for you."
"Thank you for taking the time to post your kind review. We really appreciate your business and review."
"It was a pleasure helping you get your range up and running again! Thank you for the great review!"
"Thank you for your review!"
