Last June a stolen truck crashed in to my home causing about $54,000 in insurance claims (before 8.4% sales tax and 20% project manager markup they add). When the heavy wood 3.5X8 foot door fell in to my hallway, there was a lot of damage to the high end made in USA laminate plank flooring as the glass transom broke gouging the material (which still looked new)l. I used this store when I built my home in 2011 so I opted out of using the restoration company's vendor to ensure the best match possible.
Last time I worked with the owner Mike; this time with Chuck who was very patient and accommodating (as the install date had to be changed 3 or 4 times and pushed back over two months after the custom door arrived damaged twice - needed to go in before flooring and than trim replaced). First he came out and measured and than provided me with several remnant rugs, at great prices, to be used by other repair contractors outside to protect my driveway (mason, landscaping etc.). Plus ordered the special corrugated cardboard rolls I found useful during the new build (which also protect areas from various contractors).
I had a couple of boxes of my product (mfg. 11) so it was easy to know what to order but the big worry was would the color be the same from a different manufacturer lot. It was but the (same) installer and I noticed that the new order boxes all had a very subtle mfg. imperfection on the side of the interlocking boards (would have resulted in snagged socks and/or future chips). So he called Chuck who arranged for the installer to immediately go to another distributor in PDX and pick up new product which was not defective. The new flooring was installed perfectly; no one would ever know any of my great room/front entry wall was ever replaced! This happy ending would not have occurred if I had used the restoration company's contractor :)
