It's only been a year and a half and my roof started leaking. Howard moved away from Vancouver so it took me a while to track down LMJ Contracting LLC but I did have a 10 year warranty for the roof. When I was able to find him, he told me to just hire someone else to do the work and he would reimburse me so that's what I did. When I brought out the new service provider I found out that the roof was installed very poorly and that several corners were cut including improperly installed drop lines and shingles. LMJ Contracting LLC also still has not reimbursed me for the repairs and will no longer return my calls.

Spoke with the provider who explained the scope of what the Big Deal included vs didn't include. Most importantly it didn't include scraping the moss off once it was dead. Provider reviewed the importance of removing the dead moss so it wouldn't create a place for new moss to grow. Provider applied treatment as scheduled and moss died for the most part. Although we weren't able to scrape it off the roof, there was 3 big wind storms that happened soon afterwards and almost all of the dead moss was blown down. We are quite pleased with this result as we are planning on replacing the roof this next year and just needed to remove the partial carpet of moss before winter.
Only reason the responsiveness category is lower is that we asked for a estimate for replacing the roof in order to budget for next year and have never heard another thing despite leaving another message with reminder.

The inspection was good.  Probably, it would've cost less for me to have that done if I went directly to them.  After they did the inspection, I wanted to have a quote for cleaning my roof and there was one repair that might have helped my roof, but they said they were going to give me a quote and they never did.  They haven't got back to me.  My experience in dealing with them was fine, but I don’t think I got a good deal.  They inspected the roof real well, but I don’t think they tuned it up.

I had specifically ask that I be home when the work was preformed.
This did not happen.  I arrived home to find some the work had already been done.
The service man was sitting in his truck in my driveway.  Since this was not as I had requested I asked him to
take a garden hose, spray that section of the roof to see for myself if that particular "fix" had in fact been completed.
It appeared that he had done that.
I asked him about the condition of the rest of the roof, because I will be selling my property in the future and wanted
to be aware of any problems.    I was especially wanting a written report so I could show it to prospective buyers.
I was NOT provided with any pictures or was I given a written report.
Part of the package was for him to "check for interior leaks that may not be noticeable from the exterior of your home."
THIS WAS NOT DONE.
Because of the unfinished portion of the contract, I called LMJ Contracting on 11/4/2014 twice, leaving a message.
I received a call back from "Howard". He said "Wayne" did the work and that he would talk to him and call me back.
At that time Howard apologized for the "miscommunication" .  I did not hear back from him.  Because of a death of a friend I didn't call back until Nov. 17 and asked Howard when he would be coming back to finish the inspection, etc.  We scheduled 11/20, but he called and asked to reschedule.  Said he would call me on Nov. 24.
This has been a very unsatisfactory situation with a contractor that was recommended by Angie's list.  Since I am a new member, I am now somewhat disappointed with something I thought would end well.  I'm a 71 year old widow, and have to rely on others for the repair of my home.
I still have hope that Howard will complete what I paid for.

I was disappointed that I was invited to provide my preferred dates for scheduling, and when I called Howard Felix he said he was busy for the next month. I have a leak in my roof and cannot wait one month. I don't think it is a good idea for people to pay in advance not knowing how long it can take to schedule service.

LMJ Contracting and Howard Felix did an excellent job from start to finish.  Before the job, Howard came out a few times to bring us shingle samples.  He was patient and once we chose the shingle we wanted, he provided us with a reasonable and complete quote on the work to be done.  We did pay extra to have more nails securing the shingles as we do sometimes have high winds in the area.  It cost more than we thought it should but we did opt for this feature for the benefits.
The work start a few days late, but that was due to the delivery schedule of the shingle distributor.  Once the work started, the job was completed in about a week.  His roofers doing the actual work were courteous and professional.  About the only negative aspect, although minor, was that a ladder was left overnight propped to the side of the house that could have given access to anyone wanting to get on the roof and enter through the second story.  After talking with them, this did not occur again.
Upon my limited visual inspection, the job was done very well with attention to detail.  Clean up was excellent, with no trash and no nails left.  There was a box of unused shingles that was left for any future repairs.
Overall, I would highly recommend LMJ Contracting and Howard Felix to anyone wanting to have their roofing replaced.  We did recommend LMJ to several of our immediate neighbors wanting to replace their roofing.  They also had the same positive experience.
Note:  we had a storm recently which for three days brought sustained winds of 40 mph and gusts up to 65 mph.  As far and I can see, the roofing held up well.  I can't say the same for a section of our fencing which was blown down (not installed by LMJ Contracting).

It was great. They communicated really well and gave some good information and some ideas on how to proceed. They were calm and answered our questions. I thought the price was very reasonable. They were quite good. They were here when they said they would. I really liked that they took the time to thoughtfully go things, look at the options and think about them.

I actually rent the house that Felix re-roofed. It was leaking and had moss growth. The owner hired LMJ to clean everything off and find the leak. When the damage was visible, Felix offered to fix it right then and there, with my landlord, using Moss Resistant Shingles. I have kids, so I was worried about nails and things flying off the roof, but the entire LMJ Staff was very careful, accommodating, and all around friendly (which I was amazed by because I wasn't the one paying them). I'm glad to see others have had the same great experience as me. I recommend LMJ to everyone that needs roof cleaning or a new roof and especially owners with Tenants! Thanks guys!!

This contractor was very thorough in every aspect of this job.  He and the workers did an excellent job from getting the roof ready, having the supplies delivered, an finishing the job as if it was his own roof.  I would highly recommend Felix, owner of LMJ Contracting, for any roof repair and also anything relating to your roof such as replacing vents and putting in solar vents to rid the inside of your house of hot air created by non-circulation in you attic.

He provided names of former clients whom we could talk to and see his work.  The former clients were very helpful and showed  us the work that Howard had done for them.  He was very prompt, courteous, and followed up with his proposal.  He was here when he said he would be here, honored the fact that we didn't want him to work on Sunday, and came back Monday and completed the work.  He didn't try to upsell us, and offered an annual cleaning service.

The roof had disintegrated on my homestead era 30-foot water tower, causing rot to the floor of the tank compartment and tank at top.    Howard carefully and respectfully removed the old materials, salvaging where possible and stacking it because I chose to dispose of it myself. He had to rebuild the floor before working on the roof itself - a dangerous and tricky situation but he handled it with skill.

Howard and his helper are polite and respectful workers,  toughing it out in 100 degree temps and getting the job done.  He can add historic preservation and restoration to his resume as his restoration of this historic building will help to preserve it for another 100 years

I can wholeheartedly recommend LMJ roofing.

This is a great company and has exceeded my expectations on the work performed.   Howard and his brother are awesome individuals and they really care of how the customer likes the finished product.   They will do what you want them to do and give you honest, sincere answers to your questions.   I would definitely hire them again.
