IBEX Roof

I'm a thorough researcher before hiring ANY company, so I read all the reviews from multiple top roofing companies and sought out four estimates before selecting Ibex Roofing to do a complete roof replacement on our steeply pitched home. The workers were truly professional, they did a great job in very cold, damp weather, to hold the debris they brought a dumpster on wheels instead of dropping a massive metal dumpster in the driveway, which could crack concrete, and they were prompt and cleaned up well after the roof was complete. After the roof was done they came back and inspected the work, and only at that time did they accept payment for the job, which I thought was a nice touch. (Many ask for at least half of the money before or during the process. Ibex only asked for 10% to get in their project queue.) Bottom line, our roof looks great, the cost was reasonable, and I'm so glad to have that major project over! I feel I made a great choice in using Ibex.

Pretty good communication, very skilled and friendly workers. Bid on reroof of structure but ended up rebuilding the whole thing due to rot, at minimal added cost. Some gutter damage incurred when rehanging them on the new structure.

Overall, we were happy with the service. Did a great job on the roof and were prompt and professional. Only knock was that some of the moss was left on the ground around the house.

They were good. Friendly, got the job done really quickly. They were good. My parents used them also.

Duane was a little late, through no fault of his own, when he came out to give us an estimate: there was an accident on the freeway coming to our house. His estimate was about half of those of those we had for the same work by other contractors. He arrived right on time to perform the repairs, he worked efficiently, reviewed with us all the repairs he had made, and made note of moss that needed to be removed from and roof (and gave us an estimate to do that work) and an estimate of how many more years before the roof would need to be replaced. We will definitely consider IBEX when we have that done.

The did excellent work. I highly recommend them. They came out to do a bid and were able to work the work in same day. Dwayne was very professional and did an excellent job. It looks as good as it originally did, with much better (metal) vents. Even though he said the existing roof shingle color was not available, he match it very well as you really don't notice the difference. He worked quietly and quickly, and left no mess behind.

After researching for the best company to call for a potential roofing problem, I decided on Ibex. They're not one of the biggest companies but I think it's often better to go with smaller ones because they tend to care more about their customers. Duane from Ibex came out, took a look at our roof and said it was in good condition even though it's over 20 years old, and he said it has at least another 10 or 15 years of life left in it. (Yay!) After looking at our roof, he found a nail hole in one shingle which needed replacing. We scheduled the repair and the cost was $250, which was a relief because when you hire a roofer (or a car mechanic, for that matter) you don't always know if you're receiving an honest appraisal of the problem. But with Ibex, I received fast, fair, friendly service by a roofing expert who knew his job and told the truth. Thank you Ibex and Duane!

This team was amazing. We had a flat section of roof originally built with composite shingles, that was starting to sag and weather with all of the rain we get in Oregon. Duane was so respectful and patient with answering of all of my questions, and did so much work to find the best possible application for our roof. He explained everything in great detail, the team showed up on time and got the job done in a day. It was amazing. 13/10 would hire again. I’ve already referred them to others! Thank you!

Of the three bids we took for our roof replacment, Kurt from Ibex gave us the middle bid. However, it should be noted that the quality of his material (Certainteed shingles) was head and shoulders above what was offered by the lower bid and was almost half the cost of the higher bid (offered by the world's ickiest salesman from DaBella Remodeling). His team delivered exactly what and when he said they would; he and his team were courteous and personable; and after the job was complete they thoroughly cleaned the area of any debris and/or scrap. They completed the job in the summer, when rainfall in Portland is practically non-existant. So when the first heavy rain came a couple months after they finished and a small leak presented itself in a spot we all knew was a little weird and tricky, I figured I'd need to just figure out how to patch it myself since they'd long since cashed the check. However, I called Kurt up and the next day his foreman came out and fixed the problem once and for all. When I called to thank him, he told me that his foreman was a huge perfectionist and wouldn't have it any other way. I highly recommend these guys. Roofing isn't cheap--but you're not likely to do it yourself and if you're going to hire someone, these guys are about as good as you're going to get.

Everything went exactly as Cody described it. These folks know what they are doing and, in my opinion, deserve the price that they get for their work.

Went very well, from the appointment, Sam Etter, to completion., Jeremy and crew.. Clean up was very good.

Got 4 bids. IBEX was not the lowest, but was impressed by the young representative's description and how the estimate was provided. Bids ran from $18,000 to $30,000. This is high due to the steepness of the roof that required about 40 squares. Roofing crew very punctual. Foreman very courteous. He began every day by explaining what they planned on accomplishing and then debriefed me at the end of the day. I watched them on occasion and they seemed very professional and thorough. Our roof has many gables/dormers/valleys to cut and fit. To bring it up to code, he added about 10 new vents. Was planned to take 4 days, but it took 5. Crew put down tarps and did thorough clean up at the end of each work day, including running a magnet all over the place to pick up nails. Cleaned all gutters and put on gutter new covers I bought from Home Depot to replace the old ones. Overall, very happy with how it went. A couple of small criticisms. The estimator, Cody, is young and lacks experience and not used to quizzical questions from a retired accountant. The contract said no credit given for unused materials. Say what? I'm paying for it and if not used, its stacked on my driveway? Still not sure what that meant, but as it turns out, they had to get another 8 squaress, per the foreman, of roofing material as they underestimated the amount of waste...but I was not billed for this. They also used more vent cans than expected, but no added billing. The estimate called for 3 sheets of plywood, which they used, and the foreman told me if they had not used, I'd have the option of getting a credit on each unused sheet or keeping them. A couple of minor criticisms. They tended to be wasteful. There were two or three guys applying roofing, each working out of their own bundle. At the end of the roofing, they each threw their partially used bundles into the dumpster. There was about 1/2 of a roll of underlayment that was also in the dumpster, I fished these out and contributed most of it to Habitat for Humanity. None of this affected my bill, just a cringe factor. The dumpster also had many shingles with <1/3 of the shingle cut out. As these were cut, they could have been thrown in a pile and used on the ends of runs or in a valley where only a partial shingle was needed. Again, didn't affect my bill. At the end of the job, Cody came by, did his inspection and gave me a completion certificate with warranty and answered any questions. When I asked about final inspection from county building inspector, he didn't know if that was required...something he should have known. But he checked, gave us a call later that day and said he'd scheduled the building inspector to come out the next Monday, which he did and all went fine. But these are small points. Very well done, and I'd strongly recommend them.

Can I give higher than an A? This was a big job. Between the size of the roof, the complexity and a couple of really steep areas it scared away a number of roofing companies. I ended up getting 5 quotes with a pretty wide price range. IBEX was not the cheapest (nor the most expensive) but I was super impressed with the amount of time they spent going up on the roof, into the attic, taking not just pictures but videos as well. And they answered every single question with total honesty and integrity - it wasn't some hard selling job on me. They just knew what they were talking about and what I would need. They kept in touch even during the quote process to see if there were questions or issues. The communication throughout the job, from initial quote to final walkthrough was worth hiring them right there. It's a big project that I know nothing about but felt like we were in good hands the entire time. I really needed an early start date (my old roof was shot) and they somehow managed to move things around to make a schedule that worked for both sides. Again, this was a big job - it took 3 weeks start to finish. The team referred to it as "The Beast". We cannot speak highly enough of the team that did the work. They were on time every single day, super polite and friendly, and they left the job site each night so clean you could barely tell there was work going on. Each night before leaving they would knock on the door, tell us what they accomplished, what they would work on the next day and ask if we had any questions. I got some quotes from gutter companies while they were working and even those guys commented to me about what a great team and great attitude they had. They proactively fixed a couple of carpentry items and rotting wood pieces without even mentioning it. Kirk, the owner, was here the first day and made sure we knew exactly what was going on, what to expect, and answer any questions. He was available and answered calls almost immediately during the project, and then came by for the final walkthrough at the end. Getting a huge and major renovation like this is scary, imposing and there are so many things you don't know about or could go wrong. But if you could design an experience that you hoped for in advance, this exceeded everything I could hope for. Professional and personable does not begin to describe it. Highly, highly recommend.

Sam came to my home and did an estimate and explained the products and the process. On the day of the project the crew arrived on time and the foreman introduced himself to me. The crew was very professional and did a great job. I would recommend Ibex Roof.

This is my first roof replacement, a task that I have been dreading ever since a roofing representative drove by and asked if I was interested in having it replaced more than 6 years ago. Since then I have had more than a dozen others mention that it is time to replace my 22 year old roof. I obtained 6 estimates and found that IBEX roofing was by far the best value. Every phase of the process with IBEX was made painless by the knowledgeable and helpful employees, ranging from my estimator, the support staff in the office, the foreman on site, and his crew. They brought the project in on time and under the planned budget. The work crew took it upon themselves to add some flashing to a facia board that I had to have replaced as water had caused it to rot out, even though this was not included in the estimate. In addition, the foreman noticed the flashing they had for the fireplace was not going to provide the best water barrier so he secured the existing flashing and ordered a more expensive flashing to be installed. Since we did not know for certain how many sheets of plywood would be needed to make repairs until after the shingles were removed, they provided a credit from the original bid for the unused pieces of plywood. I cannot recommend them any stronger. If you do the homework like I did, you will find that they are the best value out their. (Note - the price I have shown below is tax adjusted price after subtracting the facia board and two pieces of plywood that was needed for the roof. The price was approximately $3.42 per square foot, or $342 per square of asphalt tile needed.

Ibex kept me informed on the scheduling and then checked in to see if I had any questions or concerns. The foreman and his team arrived on time, worked hard and were very pleasant to work with. They particularly took care to protect the shrubs and plants around my home as they removed the old shingles and checked to make sure that everything was picked up. I highly recommend Ibex because not only did they do an outstanding job but also because they will be there to handle any problems that arise over the years.

Ibex did a fantastic job. New home roof had to be torn off, new shingles purchased and installed. Kurt came out and spent an hour talking about the process (who knew I could listen to a talk about roofs) then took over. I expected to have to fight with contractors and put up with missed deadlines, nails in the driveway, etc. Not the case here. I'm so impressed with the level of professionalism, from Kurt to Jeremy the lead and his crew, to Felicia in the office, everyone involved made this an easy task for me. I highly recommend Ibex.

We chose Ibex because the quote was competitive and informative without high pressure sales techniques. It turns out that they have excellent customer service as well. Minor problems were taken care of swiftly. For instance, an extension cord went missing and was replace quickly. The crew was great. They were polite, and kept us apprised of the progress and repairs consistently. They installed vents in new locations to bring us up to code, replaced several sheets of plywood at no extra charge and cleaned up like they were never there. We are please with the look and quality of our reroof. My only complaint is that a two day job turned into a three day job because they were short staffed on the first day. While it was an inconvenience it wasn't a huge problem.

Kurt from Ibex gave me a good bid and was extremely curtious & friendly, as the entire crew. Absolutely hire Ibex Roofing, they were excellent, hard-working and knowledgeable. The guys that came by for the estimate were the same ones doing the work. They were professional, responsive and very courteous. They communicated during the job to ensure that we were satisfied. We had some huge downpours less than a week after the repair and everything stayed put.

The crew did an excellent job working under very challenging conditions. The work was done during a heat wave and the job itself created unforeseen challenges causing it to run longer than the expected 2 1/2 to 3 days, but the crew was unfailingly polite, thorough and professional. They kept the job site clean and the finished roof looks great. I anticipate my new roof will last many years (IBEX also provideed a generous guarantee).

I needed my roof replaced on a deadline. They met the deadline, did a fine job. They caught several areas that needed repair and performed the repairs. They kept the garden clear of debris and there was nothing damaged - this was very important to me as the garden is fully established and has multiple layers of plantings. They came back and inspected the work, completed one small thing that had not been done yet. Very professional, very fast and very tidy. More expensive than some services but well worth it, the quality is extremely high. They took the time to explain the various features, and there was no pressure for the sale. I'm very pleased with their work and their crew.
