HOME DEPOT

Signed a contract and paid deposit last April-nearly one year. I filed two complaints and no one will call me back. Materials were delivered to my driveway several weeks ago but no contractor was scheduled to complete the job. Job is still not started and we are avoiding the delivered siding every time we driveour car. Frustrating.

Materials and dumpster were delivered on the 17th. On the 20th, when no workers had arrived by 11AM, I called Customer Service to find out what was happening. In short, the contractor they had assigned my project to had taken another job, and neglected to tell Home Depot. So now I have a driveway filled with aa 40 yd. dumpster and 28 squares of siding. Late in the day I hear from the Home Depot (HD) project manager that a crew will be here at 9AM on the 27th to start work. On the 27th the crew of two shows up to "survey" the job at 10AM. They walk around the house, take inventory of the delivered materials and tell me that they'll be back in a week to start. I said, "what"? You are supposed to start today. They said that they had another job to finish before they could do that. I contacted the Project Manager an expressed my unhappiness. He told me that they hear a "few hours" of work left on the other project,and wanted to know if they could spend half days on my house, ehile the finished up the other project. I unhappily agreed and we proceeded. In short order it was clear that this crew of two was both insufficient and slow. I complained again to HD. The next day HD called and said that a 4 man professional crew would show up at my home the following Monday and be there until the job was done. Generally that is "finally" what happened. I had custom sized railing that had to be removed to do the siding. The first crew did that and lost all of the hardware. HD replaced all of this railing at their cost. The job finally finished about October 4 - so nearly 8 weeks past schedule. Excuse, after excuse, after excuse permeated my conversations with the Project Manager. It was like he told me anything he could to calm me down. I finally challenged him, asking him if he was lying to me or just incompetent. HD did give my a 10% discount for all the trouble. That's nice, but they have lost this customer for good. I will never recommend Home Depot Contract Services to any one. I now take my business to Lowes.

Guy I spoke with was knowledgeable and helped me find the right light that could go against insulation safely.

Although I had lots of problems with Home Depot's subcontractor (see Precision Countertops), Home Depot went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with the final product, including issuing a partial refund because of faulty work by their subcontractor.

They postponed twice from the start. They put in the windows but didn't replace the interior cases. I woke up found new windows, but the same rotten cases. I called that same day to tell Home Depot and they said they would send someone over to see for themselves. Sent digital photos. The guy never showed up. Complained and they sent a different installer over to give me my cases. This next guy did a horrible job. Look at first three pictures I submitted. You could see the white wall BETWEEN the wood panels. Complained again; the Home Depot guy finally showed up saw all of the gaps and got another guy to fix the problem since I didn't want to deal with the last guy. Got postponed TWICE AGAIN! Finally got cases with okay workmanship (Picture # 4). Took about a MONTH from start date to the long overdue finish.

Rented their carpet cleaning machine for four hours from their rental department. They are knowledgeable about their rentals and very helpful.

They did a great job, but they were very expensive. They did approximately 2400 sq. ft. for $14,600. Awesome results. They did a complete tear off, removed all vent holes, and put in an ''end cap'' system so all vents are now gone, and the whole house breaths. They were incredibly fast. With a crew of 10, it took a 1/2 day for complete tear off, and by end of first day, half the house was roofed with completion the next day. I am very happy with the results, but I am glad it's a once in 30 year event!

THE SALESMAN WAS VERY HELPFUL. HE DESIGNED A KITCHEN ON HIS COMPUTER THAT WE PURCHASED. THE INSTALLER WAS VERY POLITE. HE WAS VERY GOOD ABOUT CLEANING UP AFTER HIMSELF. HOWEVER HE USED THE WRONG SCREWS AND OUR CABINETS ARE FALLING OFF THE HINGES.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB OF FIGURING OUT MY CABINETS AND GIVING ME A COST OF THE WORK THAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO FOR ME. I INSTALLED THEM MYSELF AND EVERYTHING FIT THE WAY THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO FIT.

STAFF IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL ESPECIALLY IN LIFTING AND LOADING SUPPLIES, STORE HAS VERY GOOD SELECTION OF OUTDOOR WOOD PRODUCTS FOR FENCING AND GARDEN STRUCTURES.

THE HOME DEPOT MEN WERE GREAT. THEY CAME OUT ONE DAY AND MEASURED AND THEN RETURNED THE NEXT WEEK WITH THE EXACT AMOUNT OF LUMBER WE NEEDED AND PARTS IT TOOK TO BUILD OUR FENCE AROUND OUR FRONT YARD TO KEEP OUR DOGS IN.

I ASKED A SALESPERSON IN THE APPLIANCE SECTION FOR SOME ADVICE. SHE CONTACTED THE PLUMBING GUY WHO WALKED ME THROUGH THE PROCESS OF INSTALLING THE AIR-GAP. EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECTLY.

HAVING THE FREE CONSULTATION WAS A MONEYSAVER. SHE MADE SUGGESTIONS AS A PROFESSIONAL SHOULD AND MEASURED MY WINDOWS TO PERFECTION. ANY MISTAKES WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY HOME DEPOT IF NECESSARY.

WE PURCHASED EVERYTHING AT HOME DEPOT: MARBLE TILES, SPACE DIVIDERS BETWEEN THE MARBLES, SPECIAL GLUE, MACHINE TO CUT THE TILES, BLADES. WE ALSO BOUGHT THE PAINT TO COLOR THE WALLS AND THE DOOR SO EVERYTHING MATCHES. EMPLOYEES WERE VERY KIND AND HELPED US MAKE RIGHT DECISIONS.

THE CARPETING WE RECEIVED WAS WHAT WE ORDERED AND WE ARE PLEASED WITH IT. THE INSTALLERS DID NOT AGREE WITH THE MEASURER'S PLANS FOR INSTALLATION AND ASKED ME IF THEY COULD INSTALL IT DIFFERENTLY THAN THE PLAN CALLED FOR. NOT BEING A CARPET EXPERT, I AGREED WITH THEIR REQUEST AND HAD THEM INSTALL IT THE WAY THEY PREFERRED. I'M NOT SURE WHY THERE WAS A DISCREPANCY IN HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN LAID EXCEPT FOR ISSUES WITH SEAMS AND THE WAY THE FABRIC WOULD LAY. WE HAVEN'T NOTICED ANY PROBLEMS EXCEPT THE SEAM LEADING INTO THE HALLWAY IS NOTICEABLE. PERHAPS IF THEY HAVE FOLLOWED THE MEASURER'S PLAN THAT WOULDN'T BE THE CASE.

THE SERVICE WAS PROMPT AND COURTEOUS. THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL IN EXPLAINING HOW TO USE THE POWER RAKE AND ALL THE STEPS WE SHOULD TAKE.

THE EXPERIENCE WAS A NIGHTMARE: THE DOOR CAME IN, WE PICKED IT UP TOOK IT HOME AND STAINED IT. THE DOOR JAMB SEEMED TOO BIG, BUT WE TRUSTED THE HOME DEPOT DID THEIR HOMEWORK. THE INSTALLER CAME OUT, REMOVED OUR DOOR, AND IN THE PROCESS, BROKE THE OLD DOOR JAMB, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE EXCEPT THE NEW DOOR JAMB DID NOT FIT; IT WAS TOO BIG. THE INSTALLER CALLED HOME DEPOT AND HOME DEPOT REALIZED THE DOOR JAMB WAS TOO BIG, THEY TOLD THE INSTALLER TO REINSTALL THE OLD DOOR JAMB. NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE WERE UPSET. THE INSTALLER TEMPORARILY INSTALLED THE NEW DOOR & JAMB. HOME DEPOT SAID THE NEW JAMB WOULD BE IN STOCK IN A COUPLE DAYS, WHICH TURNED INTO A WEEK AND A HALF. WHEN THE INSTALLER CAME BACK, HE INSTALLED THE DOOR AND DID A RUSH JOB. WE NOTICED THE LOCK WAS NOT ON SECURELY AND THERE IS AN OPEN AREA BETWEEN THE DOOR AND JAMB.

HOME DEPOT WAS VERY PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL AND THEY DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO WHEN THEY SAID THEY WILL DO IT. THE PEOPLE WHO DID THE WORK KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING.

THE FANS WERE DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE BY AN INSTALLER. AFTER A BRIEF CONVERSATION ON THE LOCATION OF THE FAN IT WAS OFF TO WORK FOR HIM. HE HAD THE TWO HUNTER FANS UP IN NO TIME AT ALL.

I PURCHASED THE BATHTUB AND FIXTURES FIRST, THEN THE TILE AND THE GROUT. THE ASSOCIATE IN THE TILE CENTER WAS VERY HELPFUL, BUT THE ASSISTANT MANAGER WAS HELPING ME WHEN I PURCHASED THE TUB AND FIXTURES AND HE ACTED LIKE WE WERE TAKING HIM AWAY FROM SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT. GENERALLY THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS AVERAGE.
