I rented the last piece of equipment I used for $50 for four hours. They are good people, I think.

Hardware & Home Improvement Stores
Troublesome from ordering through Window and Door special services, product received damaged. Was encouraged to installed when the installer arrived with the doors and tube of wood filler. In fairness to them it the damage was repairable and our need to get the doors installed was paramount. Would not use Special Services at Home Depot again, the installer Kraft Screens did a exceptional job, highly recommend.

Ceramic Tile Service
The work was completed quickly and a nice job was done. Some green rock had to be replaced which I did on my own, tile and bullnose was replaced and the functionality is great. Not a fancy job, just the basics but it did what is was intended to do.

Flooring, Carpet Sales and Installation
We had Home Depot install new carpeting. They showed up as scheduled and cleaned up after themselves.
The carpet installation, including a difficult wrapped pattern around the stairs looks great.

Doors
This whole process was nothing short of a fiasco.
1) At initial purchase, the invoice was incorrect. I was originally told that they didn't charge me for the second door install. When I asked why the second install cost so much more than the first door, they changed the story and said they had charged me for two internal door installs rather than 2 external door installs. This added several hundred dollars to the cost. When they added this to my charge account, it was not coded under the interest free offer that it would have been had they correctly prepared the invoice initially.
2) At the time I purchased the doors, one was not in stock and had to be ordered. I was told it would arrive in 7-10 days. On day 10 I called to see if the door had arrived and schedule the installation. I was told it was really 7 - 10 business days and the door was not scheduled to arrive for an additional 17 days. (A total of over 27 days - clearly beyond 7-10 business days.) No one was going to call and let me know about the delay. This was a huge problem as I had multiple contractors scheduled throughout the summer and the projects had to be completed in a certain order.
3) Went to the store to select the door hardware. The clerk tried to sync 3 separate locks unsuccessfully. This store didn't have any additional of this style in stock so I had to go to a different Home Depot to get the locks.
4) After the doors arrived, the contractor called to schedule an installation appointment. The first day they had available was after the Home Depot "Home Improvement Agreement" Finish Date.
When I called the store to see if there were any other contractors available that could install earlier, I was transferred to the Mill Desk where the clerk answered the phone complaining about both lines ringing at once. He then laid the phone down on the counter. I was on "hold" for over 25 minutes. I finally called the store on my cell phone and asked them to have the Mill Desk pick up the phone. I was transferred to the store manager who told me that Home Depot does not use "Agreements" despite the fact I had one in my hand. He called back laughing and essentially said - there are no other contractors, too bad this is the earliest date available.
I ended up rescheduling other contractors because this Home Depot made promises they did not keep. They set the timeline and the deadlines and failed to meet even one. Ultimately the doors were installed.
I would not use the installation services at the Home Depot (Store 4738, 330 SE 192nd Ave, Vancouver WA 98683) again and I warn others not to rely on their promises. Through the whole process they were condescending and rude. I have called their corporate office consumer line to express my dismay.

It was a very complete service and they did a first rate job. The quality was wonderful and the people that I worked with were great. I get many compliments that it is a first rate job. Their cost was much less than other company bids that we had got in the area. I would recommend them.

So they brought out the finished product and set it in place. The problem was when I home from work I thought maybe iit looked different than what was in the Home Depot store. It was evening and I thought it might be the lighting. I thought it would be fine in the morning with the sunlight on hit. But it wasn't. It wasn't even close to what we'd seen inthe store. We took the piece they'd cut out for the sink into the store in Oregon City and showed it to the person in charge there. He agreed, it didn't look the same. It was dark and dull and not even green. (moss green). He said he would call the rep on Monday and find out what to do. The next thing we know we have him calling back to say, it IS the same, it's just not polished. So we said then we want it polished or we want it replaced. They argued that it would show scratches if it was polished and we wouldn't be happy with it. We only wanted what we saw in the STORE! They shouldn't have a display that doesn't look like the finished product sitting out there. We expected it to look like that and it didn't. It was quite an ordeal getting someone to say yes and only after threatening to stop payment on the card. did we get a reply. So we'll see what it looks like when it's polished. I can't imagine that the grey is going to look green, but we'll see! At any rate, no, I will not ever purchase anything from Home Depotthat I can't carry out of the store!

Countertops and Backsplashes
The company Home Depot used was Precision Countertops. They did an excellent job and I am very pleased with their product and service. They called ahead to let me know when they would arrive, arrived on time and were very professional and efficient. I would highly recommend them.

They subcontracted the installation, and we were very happy with them. We shopped around comparing the serviceability and were very happy with the product we selected. The price is great, especially compared with some of the other materials we considered for the countertops. It was difficult to know who to speak to about minor issues through the installation, but we were happy with them overall.

Hardware & Home Improvement Stores
I went there to buy some lumber, lights, and misc items for a business remodel, I arrived one night during the week about 45 minutes before they were to close, my son and I walked around putting items on our cart and not one person asked us if we needed help, as we were deciding what kind of wood we needed, an employee notified us that we needed to start heading up to the front to get rang up, then the guy just walked off. I stood there in disbelief, all the employee's were missing in action or chatting with each other. I finally got fed up and left my full cart in the aisle and went home. I gave Lowe's a try and was very happy with there willingness to help and there prices seem fair. When Home Depot first opened, their employees were retired professionals or people who actually knew what they were doing, now they have people who would rather walk around and chat with each other than make a sale. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM OR GO THERE AGAIN!!

The coordinator was very concerned about the work and interested in the project. The crews were on time and very clean and courteous. All workers were very careful about making sure they new where my 7 week old puppy was before they started work.

Window Service
4 out 9 windows were not manufactured correctly, upside down, not obscured, scratched. Ordered the first week in April 2006. Still waiting for 1 replacement the last week in July. Installers twice didn't show up as scheduled, didn't have all the windows. Calls frequently not answered.
