We have used Tom since 2006 for all of our HVAC needs. Honest, friendly, and fair, he has provided us with top quality work. When our heat pump went out, Tom was unable to find a replacement that would work anywhere in the Portland metro area. He worked with me, telling me what to request for my online search. I located a replacement unit. Tom was out the next day after it was delivered to install it. Everything has worked great on that unit since it was installed in 2015.

Excellent service and energy use consulting. We have Tom come out every year to ensure our AC is in perfect working condition prior to the hottest weather. He always provides a great amount of expertise that helps us operate our system efficiently, and when repairs are needed he does a thorough job at a fair price.

Called on a Saturday to replace a part that we felt caused the furnace to shut down. Tom on the phone spent almost an hour going over each possible cause for the shutdown until we were able tom restore heat in our house. I was very appreciative and had Tom come and service our furnace . He found two parts needed to be replaced and several adjustments were performed. He identified several issues none of the previous service people had ever mentioned. I would highly recommend Effinger Heating.

The appointment was made a week ago and before Thom arrived in the afternoon he called me in the morning to remind me.
He arrived on time, was very presentable and professional. He did not waste any time and set to work testing the heating system first and then the air conditioning system. Clearly he is knowledgeable and uses a range of up to date testing equipment. Thom is also very personable and we chatted while he worked. Unfortunately, I am moving out of the area shortly but I wholeheartedly recommend Effinger Heating to everyone looking for a reasonably priced, honest and customer focused heating and air con' service and repair company.

I called Thom when I realized our heat pump was not working. He called back because the ONLY way to get a hold of him is via phone (somewhat old school) but his return calls were pretty soon after leaving the message. First thing he did was to troubleshoot over the phone but when that went nowhere he came over quite quickly (at the end of his work day). He used some instrumentation to diagnose the system and discovered a blown capacitor which he replaced (expensive little sucker!) then tested the system to make sure all was working normally, which it was.

They repaired the wiring and got the heat pump un and running. They made some preventative maintenance recommendations that will help save money down the road, avoiding emergency repairs and calls, and ensuring maximum life span. Tom Effinger came out to do the call. He is knowledgeable, professional, and has the best interest of his customers in mind. The preventative measures were done a follow up call, he had to order a couple of parts. The second call came to $257. I estimate that the money spent on updating a couple of parts will save me approximately $1000, with parts and labor.

I called Tom late on a Friday afternoon after our furnace stopped working during a coldspell. I had been warned of extra fees for evening and weekend work by another provider so I asked Tom if we should wait for Monday. I'll never forget his reply: "I don't charge extra for people who don't have heat during the middle of Winter." Tom arrived as soon as he was able that night and spent his Friday evening in our freezing garage getting our furnace operational. A few months later we had another minor issue with the furnace and Tom stopped by and corrected it free of charge. He was the epitomy of professionalism throughout.

Tom answered the phone and responded to my needs promptly and efficiently. He arrived 15 minutes after my phone call, late on a Friday afretnoon. His professionalism was evident from the time he got out of his truck. Truly the best experience I've ever had with a service technician. Why would anyone ever use anyone besides Tom Effinger for heating and air needs.

Checked Angies list, selected Thom Effinger and left a message for him. He called back within 15 minutes and was on-site within an hour. He determined what the problem was with my Trane heat pump, gave me an estimate which I accepted, and left to get the needed parts. An hour later he returned and repaired the unit, checked it all out, and gave me a few good pointers.

I called Effinger and they tried to help me resolve it over the phone by recycling the system, checking to make sure the filter wasn't clogged, turning the circuit breaker on/off, etc. Couldn't resolve the problem, so Tom came out the same afternoon. Found that the high speed igniter that had been replaced by them almost a year ago had failed and so he replaced it immediately. No charge, including the trip. I've had Effinger out several times in the last two years and each time they've been totally professional, prompt, and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.

Mr. Yates had the courtesy to call and say that he was running late, and gave an adjusted appointment time within half an hour of the original appointment. He inspected and cleaned the furnace and inspected the A/C. He did the job in short order and cleaned up after the work (the furnace is in the attic).
