Cascade Fence and Deck

Polite and courteous crew performed excellent work. Labored through some truly awful (cold and wet) weather with never a complaint. The job turned out beautifully and was completed on schedule. I have enjoyed my fences for 2 year now with not a single problem.

Were not willing to work on my project

There are plenty of companies that can build decks. But none are as honest, respectful, or talented as Cascade Fence and Deck. Not only were they able to (patiently) listen to our questions and provide information on design options, but they made us feel like we weren’t just another job for them. It wasn’t about getting the deck built as quickly as possible or “close enough” to our needs, but making sure we were happy. We had very specific needs for our deck and Cascade was able to meet them all…and then some! From the very beginning, the field sales representative, Leif Wirtanen, was extremely helpful. He provided honest answers to every question we had and gave something that other companies had yet to provide: Confidence. We felt like Cascade actually understood our deck design and the reasons behind them. He also took note of our wish for in-deck lighting and offered us options without making us feel like he was “up-selling”. The build began in late Dec 2016 with, ironically, the tear down of our old deck. The deck installers, Dustin and Louis, were always prompt and made short work of removing the old deck. If you’ll remember, the weather in Portland around that time was quite challenging, but Cascade made sure to keep us informed of any days there were not able to work due to the weather. On those days they were able to work, Dustin and Louis proved why they are considered professionals. The precision with which they built the deck was amazing. They were focused, skilled, and always ended the work day by asking us if we had any questions. My wife also noted that they treated her as an equal to me, something that can’t always be said of many companies. The end results are nothing short of incredible. The design is exactly as we asked for, the final product is above and beyond our imagination, and the build quality is spectacular. We would happily recommend Cascade Fence and Deck for any project you might have!

From the beginning when I called for an estimate to the installation everything went very well. I used this company a couple of years ago and was very pleased with their work. I called them in January, 2017 right after this winter's storms took out two very large trees in my yard. The trees fell on my vinyl fence and destroyed several sections. Cascade Fence responded immediately to my request and from then on followed up on every step. Yesterday the work was completed and I am very satisfied. I called them directly after the storm and did not get a second opinion as there was no need since I had been very pleased with their previous work. This is a well run and responsive company.

It was an outstanding experience. We have more fencing to be replaced and will call them again to do the work.

In the end, I chose to go with the contractor that built my deck at my last house, but I would certainly consider Cascade in the future. They are very professional and their quality looks great. While price was not my only driving factor, it was A factor in my decision making process. Cascade was actually the most expensive of the quotes I received. That being said, the quality and professionalism from the company should still keep them on your list of potential contractors.

By the time we got our gate we had a joke that to "cascade" something was to commit and then not show up. Eventually, we got an apology for how horribly our job went, and I should have cancelled our agreement after the third or fourth time that they screwed up. In the end, I learned that I need to end contracts with unprofessional companies as soon as it becomes apparent that they aren't going to do a good job. I began by making an appointment to meet an installer at their showroom. When I showed up for the appointment, no one was there. I wandered around for a while before finding someone who said, with irritation, that they were all in a meeting now. So I waited. When the meeting was out, the person my "appointment" was with wasn't even in that day. When I asked if someone else could meet with me, there was a big sigh and a rolling of eyes, and ok, but it was clear they thought they were doing me a favor. The person who met with me was a "supervisor" but didn't know how to use the software to generate a quote. I sat down with them and we learned how to use the program together. I felt bad for them and how clearly over their heads they were. Again: I should have just walked out. I know this now. After agreeing to the quote, I arranged the first on-site appointment for the posts to be installed. I have a family member at home who is senile and mostly deaf - she gets very scared if anyone is at the house when I'm not there so I made a point of scheduling at a time that I knew I could take time off work and be home. I was home. They did not show. I called. I wrote. No response. I kept calling. I was told that the original appointment had been made at a time when they have their weekly meeting. Ok. Scheduled again. Made it clear that I was taking time off work to be there during the work window and how important it was that I was there. I got home an hour before they are scheduled to be there to find two people breaking up the concrete in my driveway and digging holes. They just started - with no confirmation from me on where to dig. My senile family member is so scared she's hiding in the closet. I was furious. I told them to leave. They said they couldn't leave until they finished. More angry calls from me. No apologies, just a "sometimes they just get there early" response. Again: I should have cancelled the whole job. But now my existing gate was gone and I needed a gate. And I'd paid half of the cost upfront. The whole job went on like this. It was absolutely awful. Whatever time they agreed to be there that was the ONE time we could be sure they would not be there. They might show up at another time (earlier or later), or they might not show at all. The quality of the gate is fine. It opens and closes. Eventually I got an apology from the "supervisor" but it was way too late and the work was over by then. I would never, ever, ever (!) hire them again.

Prompt, professional, and resoonsive to all our concerns. Stayed within the budget. Not the cheapest option, but worth the extra money.

They are the most responsive team I have ever had the pleasure of hiring.

The job went very smoothly. From the company rep who came out to give the estimate for the job, to the installers, everything was conducted in a highly professional manner. Very respectful, and considerate.

We purchased a new home in North Portland this summer and wanted to have a fence put up. After an exhaustive online review search we called Cascade Fence & Deck. They were able to fit us in earlier than they had expected at our request due to the fact that we would be moving in with our dog, flock of backyard chickens and bees. From the beginning, they were extremely friendly, courteous, and professional. Above all, they did great work. Nate( I'm pretty sure this was his name, sorry), the foreman, was amazing. He kept us up to date and well informed. After the team had completed our job we called them back to make a few additions. They did this as efficiently and professionally as before. I would definitely recommend Cascade Fence & Deck to anybody in the future.

Cascade Fence & Deck did a fantastic job throughout our interaction with them. They were very responsive, provided a detailed and thorough inspection, gave us various options in terms of what to repair and how, and worked with us to make the best decisions based on how long we expect to remain in our current house. We were particularly impressed by Leif who did the initial inspection and set up our plan for repair. The gentlemen who completed the work did a great job repairing our deck. While there were a couple of (minor) issues that we wanted to be addressed after they finished (a couple of boards needed re-fastening), the company sent out a crew the very next day to address our concerns. We were very happy with Cascade Fence & Deck and will certainly use them again for any deck repair that we need in the future.

Cascade was very professional, very thorough in matching the product with what we had. They brought out samples and when those weren't a perfect match, brought more until they go it right. They also were meticulous in planning and keeping us informed every step of the way. The workers were always courteous and polite, it was a great overall experience. I would highly recommend them for any outdoor project!

They were the only people I asked. I might have done better someplace else, but I never bothered to check. It was a lot of money. The quality was absolutely excellent. They were extremely professional, the work itself was beautiful and they were fast. The workers were super. We had problems with our Homeowners Association and I had to put this on hold for three weeks and they were so great waiting for me.

They were absolute professionals at every step. I left a message when I initially called, and my call was returned quickly. Mike was able to visit my house soon after the call, and give me an estimate soon after that. I was shown gate and fence pictures, and received a plan for the work, to approve. Darren and Scott arrived on time to build the gate and fence, and reviewed the plan with me before working. They did an excellent job -- it's beautiful! -- and even raked the soil in the border area to cover some exposed concrete from my neighbor's driveway. They went above and beyond the described work to make my yard look beautiful. I plan to replace a fence next year and will without a doubt hire Cascade. They do great work, have terrific customer service (you too, Sharon!) and stand by their work. I'm impressed. I recommend them highly.

They did a reasonable job. Looking at the fence now, I am going to say that I certainly couldn?t have done as good as job, but I am not in the trade either. The quality of their workmanship is good, the quality of the product we agreed upon is fair, average. Had we been smarter, we might have gone with a higher quality wood. There is a crew and some members of the crew are stronger than the others. The leader of that crew I would give a ?B? for professionalism, and a couple of his worker bees might have been a ?C? or a ?D?. Just pay attention to what you agreed to and that sort of thing. But, we are not unhappy! But, we are certainly going to trot up and down the block and said, hey you guys need to get your fence done with this company. I am not going to promote them.

I don't think I have any complaints at all. You can give them an A. The pricing was probably a B, I would think. They respond professional. It worked out great.

They did a wonderful job. They were excellent, they did such a good job I was very impressed. I wouldn't use anyone but them now. Everything just turned out perfect I wish everybody was like that.

They were good. They were professional, did quality wok. They were pretty fast putting up the fence.

They had to come out quite a few times to correct some stuff that they did because instead of having the fence straight across and level, they had it angled up and had to bring it down level. Then they had to fix the bottom of the fence where it was at an angle. It was a little expensive and thought it would cover the other side of the fence, but that wasn't a part of the deal. I thought all the fence was going to be repaired but they just did one side of the house and two gates.

It was great, they did a great job. They were very polite and on time, good communication.

The three-person team from Cascade Fence and Deck finished our deck project two weeks ago and I must say they exceeded our expectations. From the moment they started the job until they finished, they kept us fully informed on how they would complete the project, provided multiple updates, asked our opinion on design elements, and how we felt with the work being performed. Since we are retired, we had plenty of opportunity to observe them at work. We found them to be very safety conscious, always wearing safety glasses, proper ladder usage, and keeping the job site clean to eliminate trip hazards. It was great to see how well they worked together and the pride they took in the quality of work they were preforming. You could truly see they enjoyed what they were doing and also had great respect for the company they were working for. Not only do I feel we hired the best company to complete our project, we truly could not have asked for more friendly, helpful and professional people to work with.

Cascade Fence and Deck installed a quality fence with excellent workmanship. From the first contact with the office (Sharon), to the estimator (Mike), to the installers (Nate, Kelvin, Tyler, & Jake), we received outstanding customer service. Mike was thorough and asked good clarifying questions. The lead installer, Nate, was hard working and a pleasure to work with. The installers stayed on task and completed the job in three days. We are extremely pleased with the result; our backyard looks great.
