Of all the renovation projects we have done, this was the highest budget and level of risk we ever contracted out for, so we consulted multiple sites and read reviews before narrowing the list of professional contractors to a handful and reaching out for consultations. Alta Casa immediately stood out with their excellent responsiveness and communication, and the others gradually self-selected out to the point where we were ready to proceed. How would that translate over the course of the project? Design process: The Alta Casa team listened to our needs and incorporated them into the design, asking appropriate clarifying questions along the way. Our priorities (yours may vary): - Keep original footprint and walls intact - Increase storage, but better use of space (lose the peninsula and soffits) - Increase lighting: overhead and under-cab - Functional usability of cabinetry - Coffee bar - Baking station Execution on Delivery and Project Management: - Scope: We reached an initial agreement and everything that we decided to add was appropriately and promptly covered with a change order. - Schedule: Coordination of subcontractors executed well, work was done in sequence without dependency-related problems causing delays or rework. - Budget: The budget grew as we added and communicated prioritized items, but always under control and confirmed. - Communication and Coordination, Adapting to Changes: We all know that "little hiccups" happen, and you never know what you're getting into until the walls are opened up, but the frequent and open, honest dialogue enabled us to discuss what was learned, define options, and make the choice with which we were most comfortable. - Skills and Materials: Top quality, see for yourself in the photos. Final review together to confirm successful completion and satisfaction. Summary: Being without your kitchen for several months is notoriously stressful. The team at Alta Casa, their subcontractors, and external referrals were all extremely professional and repeatedly went above and beyond to deliver us an amazing result. I would choose them again in a heartbeat, offering my highest recommendation. If I could give them 6 stars, I would. They were that good.
