listed on the web site and Angie's list. When I called and spoke to Lenny, he said he
could have a serviceman out that afternoon. He quoted about a $90 service
call. The repairman arrived in the afternoon, looked at the heater,
and told us it was possible flow meter, but he would have to check. Later he said he would have to clean it. He
took over 1 hour and charged us almost $190, because, he said, it took him so long to clean the flow meter.
Three months later the
problem recurred. This time we called around, and I spoke with the
serviceman at Stan's--another authorized dealer. That person told me
that the flow meter was a known problem on this heater, and I should
order another at less than $30 + less than 30 minutes to install.
However, he didn't have a unit in stock and it would take a couple of
days--possibly the same problem as with All About Air, who then would have
lied about the issues and upcharged. I called a local
plumber--Simpson's--also on Angie's list. They checked and told me
they could have one by the next morning. I gave them the go-ahead and
the total bill was ~$90. Subsequent to that the Navien has functioned
much better even than when it was new (installed in 2010). The guy at Stan's was right--just not timely.
"Dear [member name removed], thank you very much for taking the time to post a review - feedback creates action and potential opportunities for training within our company. We respect and admire our customers and always do our best to take care of each and every one individually. I apologize that you feel All About Air did not take care of your needs and you feel as if you were overcharged. However, I'd like to take this opportunity to reply to this review and provide my explanation as well as our experience and knowledge. After speaking with the technician, pondering my own personal experiences, and even performing a few simple internet searches – I have come to the conclusion that we are not alone here. The Navien flow meter sensor issues have left many HVAC companies and plumbers in the same predicament. By following the service and care before replacement model and first cleaning the flow meter before replacing it; many people have had the same experience where the technician has left the site and months later had to have that same technician back out or have the flow meter replaced by someone else. It’s an unfortunate situation that the cleaning only lasted three months before a replacement had to be made; but our technician followed procedures. I am happy to hear that you were taken care of by Stan's as they are a water heater specialist and obviously knew of this being a replacement issue first hand with this product. We believe we provided you with the proper diagnosis and performed the service to get your water heater functioning and would have welcomed the opportunity to resolve the matter directly with you. Again, we thank you for your review and apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions. Lenny"
