Alko Blind & Drapery Cleaning & Window Coverings

My 14 year old silhouette blinds needed cleaning. I wasn't sure whether they would hold up. I checked the Hunter Douglas website and learned that injection/extraction cleaning was recommended for the type of blind I have. The website listed Alko. I called and left a message, Memo got back to me quickly, We set up an appointment to determine if the blinds were in good enough shape to clean. Memo determined they were good to go and explained the technique. He quoted me a price that was similar to another company that would have been using a non recommended technique. He was willing to make a second trip back to pick them up so that I would be without window covering for less time but I told him to go ahead and take them. He actually got them back to me more quickly than I had anticipated and they look great. I highly recommend Alko and Memo is a very pleasant person to deal with.

The blinds look very nice, but it took Memo several trips to get the blind installation right. I'm crossing my fingers that yes, he got it right this time.

Owner kept our blinds a day longer than promised. We were promised a brush for cleaning, never received. Cords were singed/burned shorter, and so then they consequently snapped the first time we used them. We were told he would come fix them, and never heard from him again. Owner did not respond to emails or phone calls in an effort to let him remedy the situation.

Memo came out within a few days of my call and then had to take the blind back to his shop to replace the cords. He returned the blinds several days later. The blinds now work great.

Such a great experience: professional, efficient and great results. My blinds look like new. Very honest and careful. I would for sure use this company again. My blinds had to be hand washed due to the mechanisms I have on my blinds otherwise,he explained that they might rust.

It went well!  We arranged for him to come to the house between 9:30-10:00 am.  He was running late (about 10-15 minutes due to traffic) but called me at 9:45 to let me know.  He came in, handed me his business card, introduced himself and had me show him where the blinds were that we spoke about.  As we went from room to room he quickly removed the blinds from their hangers and labeled each one as to their location.  He was very polite and respectful.  
I had forgotten my accordion blind was broken when I spoke with him on the phone but asked him while he was there if he could fix that one as well.  He said yes, removed the blind and labeled it.  Then he noticed, with an experienced eye, that the other accordion blind in the same room was coming loose.  He politely asked if he could stand on the couch to reach it and immediately took off his shoes to do so.  He snapped the blind back into place.  I told him I sometimes had trouble raising the blinds because they are so heavy and he proceeded to teach me how to raise the blind so as to not put undue stress on the cording and the holder. I was pleased with the extra time and care he took.  He brought them back the same day but did run 1/2 hour late  (that's why I gave him a 'B' for punctuality for the pick up and return).  The blinds look WONDERFUL (practically brand new) and the two that were broken work beautifully.  In fact all of them work much better due to the cleaning.  I will definitely call him again for my window treatment cleaning.

A mechanism on two of my Hunter Douglas blinds was broken; one blind 20 years old and one 10 years old. I had no idea who to call so I looked online on a Sunday morning and liked the web page that Alko Window Coverings presented and sent the company an email. I was totally surprised to receive an answer back that afternoon and was given an appointment at 10:00am the next day. The end result of that initial visit was two fixed blinds even though the parts hadn?t been made in many years. Mr. Alp Akalin never gave up in his attempt to get my blinds repaired. I also asked him to clean 5 blinds that were 20 years old and they came back looking great and restrung in the process. And his costs were more than reasonable. Alko Window Coverings will be getting all my future window covering business.

Alp was great to work with and took the extra time to make sure the window coverings were the right look for us and fit flush inside the window frame. Highly recommended, will use again. His prices were very competitive and the quality of work was excellent.

Alp was on time, very professional and very knowledgeable.  I have quite a few Hunter Douglas blinds in my house, which are generally in great shape....they are about 20 years old.  Some of them hang in windows that face west...thus, they get a lot of sunlight.  Some of the plastic parts at the top of those blinds had gotten dried out from 20 years of heat.  They broke, hence the blinds were hanging crooked.  The exact parts were not available because of the age of the blinds, but Alp worked with the manufacturer to figure out which new parts would work on my old blinds.  They look great and hang perfectly.  The repair was much cheaper than buying new blinds, and the convenience of having Alp take them down and put them back up was greatly appreciated.

There were a lot of splotchy, rough spots on the lowest vane of the Hunter Douglas Silhouette PowerRise. You can get a feel for it by looking at his photo gallery at the bottom of his web page, http://www.alkobc.com/. Photos 4 and 5 are the before and after photos of someone else's Hunter Douglas Silhouette. Mine was not as bad as photo 4; only the very bottom rung of mine had the splotchy rough spots.
The Hunter Douglas Silhouette PowerRise was installed new 15 years ago. This was its first professional cleaning. Memo was concerned that he might not be able to get those splotchy, rough spots out. However, he thought a bit and agreed to give it a try. He said that he had a few different approaches.
I called him to find out how it was going. He told me that his first approach did not work, but he had another idea.
I waited and called him to find out how it was going. He told me that his second approach did not work, but he had another idea.
I waited again and called him to find out how it was going. He told me that his third approach worked pretty well, and he needed more time to get it looking the best.
In the end, Memo did an excellent job of cleaning what I thought was an impossible mess. The Hunter Douglas Silhouette PowerRise looked like new!
My guess is that others might have tried their standard cleaning methods, been unsuccessful and given up. Luckily for me, Memo did not give up. His persistence, experience and knowledge were the reasons he succeeded.
