Bennett Home Inspections

Geoff was punctual and very professional. He was quite thorough with the inspection, and explained findings in detail. He was great at going over specific problems and their respective remedies. We were presented with an excellent report which included relevant photos. The photos were very useful for comparison after the sellers had completed (or not completed in some cases) required repairs. Geoff was also very willing to answer questions in the days following the inspection. I would definitely recommend Geoff for anyone needing a detailed and knowledgeable inspector. His friendly and professional demeanor instilled confidence in his work as well.

Everything went well, from initial contact and follow up to set up appointment. Geoff was on time, very thorough and efficient in getting lots done during the inspection. It was also very helpful being there while work was done along with explanations about what he was seeing. I was very satisfied and would use again in the future.

We were so pleased with Bennett Home Inspection's services and would use the company without hesitation. Mr. Bennett offered PhD level knowledge of the state of our potential home, and advice on how to correct any shortcomings. He inspected every single part of the house, interior and exterior, including (off the top of my head and not inclusive) the attic, crawlspace, electrical, major installed appliances, foundation, HVAC, windows, roof, siding, plumbing, electrical, He even showed me where to change the furnace filter. We were so impressed with his knowledge. Mr. Bennett spent over 4 hours looking things over, snapping pictures, and taking notes. Then, he upload the photos to his tablet and gave us an excellent presentation on his findings. He explained why some of the items were problems and what could happen if the items were not fixed. We were able to decide for ourselves which items we could ask the sellers to repair. Within about 24 hours we received a (pdf?) report via email, complete with pictures, findings, and recommended actions to resolve any problems. This report was critical in helping us get more than 10 major things corrected prior to us signing on the dotted line. Also, his vivid, detailed descriptions helped the contracted professionals go right to the spot where the fix was needed. Also, we were able to succinctly explain to the professionals exactly what we needed. After the seller fixed the requested problems, Mr. Bennett returned to meet us for the re-inspection (additional cost but very much worth it) of the 10+ items. The report was optional for an additional fee. In our case, some of the items had not been completed so we were glad to get a report. My husband has a background in construction and I would call myself an advanced do-it-yourselfer. However, we would not buy another house without calling Bennett Home Inspections first. Mr. Bennett brings invaluable expertise, an eye for detail, and strong verbal and written skills to his inspections. We absolutely got what we paid for and more. We highly recommend this company.

I was in the process of purchasing my first home and had 10 days to do an inspection. The original company I was going to go with was booked out. I ended up calling 11 different companies/inspectors and the 11th was Bennett Home inspections. I spoke with Geoffrey for quite a while on the phone, he was booked out too but explained to me how to find a certified inspector and what to look for. He ended up calling me back a while later and said he would arrange some things to be able to schedule me in. He was on time, very professional and extremely thorough. He checked every single things from the smallest things to the large things. He went on the roof of the house and the garage. Inspected the attic, crawl space, showed us the electrical panel (That needed replacement badly), checked the electrical outlets (Most were install incorrectly), explained why we needed to contact an electrician due to dangers, he checked obvious leaks and found three, one that was very important. He pointed out what was obviously new, old, what was dangerous and a safety hazard. He told us things that were ok but done improperly. He also pointed out where there was previous pests and what could be inviting to new pests. He explained everything in detail and in a way that both I and my boyfriend, who are inexperienced with all this, could understand. He quoted me a price over the phone, and even though he spent 4.5 hours inspecting he kept to the original quote, which was must less then any other company I called! It was an extremely pleasant surprise that the last company I called and least expensive was the absolute best experience and service I could have found. I would most definitely recommend Bennett Home Inspections to anyone purchasing a home.

Geoffrey showed up on time, ,listened to my description of the problem, and my theories. He took a quick look and suspected a routine nail popping event. Climbed onto the roof to look for any way moisture could access the attic from there, looked carefully at every ceiling in the house, used some sort of device to check moisture content around the nail heads, then crawled into the attic to make sure there was no undue mositure nor any problem that might cause such in the future. There did turn out to be a venting issue that is not causing a problem but might in the future. 
A couple days later I received an emailed report, complete with more pictures than you'd find in a travel book (ok, maybe not that many). I can now forward that report to someone who can actually fix the problem for me,.
Geoffrey also gave me some free advice on how to deal with a minor patio problem and who I could contact to address that.
Here's the funny part: He was soooooo apologetic from the beginning (From before the beginning actually. Before we got off the phone the first time.) about how "embarrassingly" little time he would spend in my home for the outrageous fee of $95. I thought it was a bargain, frankly, given what people charge in this area. He was here well over an hour, he was intensely thorough, he gave me more information than I am capable of processing, and he was frank about all my options, including the do-nothing option. I'd call him out again in a heartbeat.
