The crew showed up on time and did seem to do what they were hired to do but they completed all the work the first day and came back the second day to seal mortar and take down scaffold and clean up. It wasn't until the day after they left that a trip onto the roof exposed the fact that very little work had been done on the side of the chimney that is only visible from on top of the roof. The mortar chimney cap had been replaced on only three sides and there were several old lines of mortar that still had cracks and were supposed to be ground out and repaired. Contractor was called at that time and disagreed with our assessment. He said he could have spent forever replacing the old mortar, yet when he bid the job he told us that most of it was in sound condition. He had already cashed the check so we had no recourse.
Description of Work: Ground out old mortar, pressure wash, tuck point, replace chimney cap and seal one chimney. Then, pressure wash, check mortar, and install new stack and metal chimney cap on a second chimney. This job was supposed to take three men two days to complete.
