Reliable Roofing and Retro-fit

Ooooh, boy these guys are pros, pro salesmen that is, much like smarmy used car salesmen. The name of the company sounds just a lot like another, reputable company. That one is "Reliable Roofing" - but these guys are "Reliable Roofing and Retro-fit." I looked 'em up to re-roof a shed. They wanted to inspect the main house as well. Surprise, Surprise! I need a new roof - that they wanted to sell me for $50,000; or about twice what anybody else charges. They came on strong, with lots of smiling and handshaking. Their T Shirts say "Platinum Installer" on the sleeve, and every time they say "We're platinum installers" they tug their sleeve so you can see the logo. And they say "Platinum Installers" a lot. Took a two-hour sales pitch with 'here, try to tear this' I passed on the main house - but asked 'em to still do the shed, even tho it was pricey. (I could rebuild the shed for that much) Was starting to feel uneasy but wrote 'em a check for $1000 down. They said they'd start tomorrow (who starts tomorrow?) That would have been Thursday, they called on Thur to reschedule for Saturday. They showed up Saturday, taped down some plastic, and left. Meanwhile, I'm starting to smell a rat. They said they'd come from Angie, but Angie didn't give me their name, and in fact has no reviews for them. Whereas they said they needed a review score of 3.8 to be Platinum Installers (tug sleeve.) So I hit the web & found a whole lot of 1 star reviews, and people talking about the company with the shorter name losing business because of these guys. Lots of people talking about the smarmy salesmen and no work getting done. Cancelled check & told 'em not to come back. But now they *do* have a review on Angie...
